Great sandwiches, as always, and a place where we can have lunch with our dog. We also love the updates to the interior — a great place that is even better now! Highly recommend the Turkey Club and the Italian.

Stopped for a quick bite to eat. Food was awesome. Only one person working which was fine we were the only ones in the place. It didn’t take long for our food to be made. The lady was nice. It seems like a good place for summertime. We would come back if we didn’t live so far away.

This was a nice little stop on our way through Old Mission while we were wine tasting. We got the Rachel and the Reuben. Fantastic sandwich. Worth the money and the stop! Highly recommend.

What a great place to stop for lunch out on the peninsula. I started out with the reuben and loved it. Next time I was in, I had a small pizza and they made the crust to order and brought it out piping hot. Such a good pizza. Then, most recently, I had the club sandwich and it was my favorite thing yet. The ladies who work here are so nice and the food is so good, I can’t wait to come back. As a bonus, they have a good selection of really nice local potato chips and unusual sodas.

The food is good, but as one reviewer mentioned this place is very slow. The owner/cook needs more help with the food preparation and needs an attitude adjustment. He seems annoyed by his customers especially of they are unaware of how long it will take for them to get their food. We have visited this place for years and it’s always the e problem.

If your thinking this is a quick alternative to a sit down restaurant — think again! Took over 1HOUR to get 1 sandwich! Told it would be 20 which is still too much for a deli. Only reason for the 2 stars is the sandwich was tasty’!

So, I’d be really into this place if they added a few popular items to their topping options. Cucumber maybe? Avocado would be a dream. Sprouts would be pushing it, understandable. But just a few more options for us veggie lovers would be bueno. Perhaps a gluten free bread/wrap option too. Now I’m just being selfish.

Well who would think that a Rueben sandwich this good could be found anywhere else but NY? Let me tell ya folks, this small little spot on the peninsula in Traverse City has got one of the best. Lean succulent corned beef on rye with mustard and kraut thousand island dressing oh man my cousins were in Heaven while indulging. If you happen to be in these parts sometime and love the Rueben, go for it you’ll love it…

We ordered shots and lunch for 15. After 45 minutes still weren’t served and the bartender wasn’t very nice. We are checking this off our list.

Very very good! Must try the tuna sandwich! It’s whole filet of blackened seared tuna in between garlic cheese focaccia.

Great find on the Old MIssion Peninsula. Very convenient, with nice staff, easy parking, and delicious food! It was packed on the Friday we went for lunch, but the setting was very comfortable for our group of eight. The sandwiches were all fabulous and filled with fresh ingredients. I will be back on my next wine tasting adventure!

Consistently great. Terrific choices of meats and cheeses. And the soups… wowza. One of the best pastrami sandwiches I’ve ever had.

Bad Dog is a simple deli counter that offers good value, good sandwiches, and quick service. The staff is marvelously friendly, even when they’re in the middle of the lunch rush. Along with the nearby Peninsula market, one of the two best places for an inexpensive lunch when you’re on the Peninsula.

Hot Sandwiches! Great refreshments with variety of meats grilled if you want, ask them to brown the outside of your bread a little more, worth the time to taste the crunch. Spend a little time or a lot. You’ll enjoy the food and the menu selections and look over your schedule thinking of why no one told you to stop relax and eat HERE! Our by chance stop made us wonder how many times we could get back. Love the chicken cherry wrap, daily specials worth a try.

This is the most basic of delis, in the middle of Old Mission Peninsula… maybe 8 or so Boarshead meat selections, several cheese selections and several bread selections; the sushi-bar-style menu lets you tick off what you want on your sandwich, and the they make it to order. There are also salads and daily soup, sandwich and entrée specials. On the day we visited we ordered the specials, which were respectively a Buffalo chicken mac-and-cheese and a Buffalo chicken wrap. The mac-and-cheese, which was topped with browned panko and was served in a ginormous portion, was extremely dry; so much so that I found it difficult to eat. The bleu cheese flavor was pleasing, but there was very little evidence of Buffalo sauce/seasoning in the dish; and the chicken, baked inside the macaroni, was also dry. So that was a disappointment. The Buffalo wrap, by contrast — just a simple chicken wrap with Buffalo sauce, mayo, lettuce and tomato on a tomato wrap — was quite tasty, but nothing special. If you get hungry while touring the Old Mission Peninsula and just need a casual nosh in between wine-tasting and sightseeing and recreating… this is a convenient refueling stop; but again, be aware that this is about as sparse a deli as you will find. if you’re looking for local atmosphere, I might recommend the historic, funkified Old Mission Store, at the northeast end of the peninsula, which serves simple meals and is quite an interesting place in general.

Wonderful sandwiches! This is an ideal place to visit for a stress-free, reasonably-priced, tasty meal. When you enter the restaurant, they hand you a paper menu of all the sandwich ingredients. You merely circle which of the fresh, high-quality ingredients you want in your sandwich, check off whether you’re dining in or taking out, and hand the menu back to the counter. Easy and done! The sandwiches were delicious and quite large. Oh, and they had some of the most delicious sourdough bread I’ve ever tasted. It was a perfect lunch. I would definitely recommend this place for take out if you’d like to have a nice picnic on the beach.
