I am a beer connoisseur and this is as good as it gets. I’ve hit all the local breweries in this area and this place is the best TC brewery by far. Excellent staff, great pizza, over the top awesome salads too. Don’t leave Traverse City without s stop here.

AMAZING pizza! If you are in town, this is a must visit place if not for beer, than certainly for their pizza. Hubby had 6 tasting of beer which was pretty good. Only negative — we had a hair in our hummus. Staff was nice about giving us a refund for it because we didn’t want another plate of it.

We stopped in at this cool place a short walk away from downtown, as it’s one of only a few breweries open on a Wednesday afternoon in winter. The atmosphere was super friendly and laid back — shout out to bartender Tom, who came over to talk to a couple of out-of-towners and give us excellent local recommendations! The beer was, overall, good — especially the barrel-aged beers — and we might have stayed all afternoon if we hadn’t left the car at a meter downtown. If I lived here, I’d be a regular.

I’m not a beer drinker… I’m a foodie! And I have to say the wood fired pizza is the best I have ever had! My husband and I shared the Stoker pizza. Nice crisp crust with fire roasted veggies, with just enough heat. delish! my husband is the beer drinker, he enjoyed the golden ale. The service was great. Staff was very friendly and pointed us to other places to visit while we were in town. can’t wait to try another pizza!

Beer: I only tried two, but they both were very good. I would definitely go back to check out some more options. Food: I was not impressed. We got the beer cheese dip which is served cold with those little pretzel sticks that you get in a bag from a grocery store. I wouldn’t pay for that again. We also got the station salad. It was all right. I revisited the photo someone else posted on Unilocal that drove my decision to order it, and yep! That salad had twice as many toppings. The salad would have been great with more pear and figs. Finally, we ordered the wolverine pizza which has pepperoni, pineapple and jalapeño. It’s a weird combo, but it’s actually something my husband and I order all the time. I thought it fell flat, not flavorful enough. My husband loved the garlicky sauce. We both agreed that the middle of the pizza was super soggy. Service: For a place with pub service I can’t believe how great it was! We were asked many times if we wanted more beer, water, a box for the cheese dip that we did not like. Very impressed on this. I would have given it a 3, but the beer and service were both so good. Go for the beer and maybe a snack. There are many better meal options in TC.

Excellent. We came here based on Unilocal reviews and were not disappointed. Very helpful staff and recommended beer we really liked. The pizzas were very good — liked that we could get one pizza but both sides completely different.

Can’t believe I waited this long to try them! Great atmosphere for a casual date night or dinner with friends, loved the white lights around the exterior of the room. Our host was very friendly and his recommendation of ordering a salad and a pizza to split between two people was perfect. My date was apprehensive to try the pizza I wanted(I think the idea of arugula of top freaked him out) so we did half and half and he ended up loving my side, of course ;) the caesar salad was perfectly dressed and pretty yummy and the pizza was delicious. Beer was great too! Can’t wait to go back! Like I said perfect for a casual, affordable date night :)

We read about this brewery in a delta airlines magazine and thank you Dan Weldy for your recommendation. This was our first stop in Traverse City and the beer and flat bread pizza were both amazing. Views of the lake, an engaging bartender and a cozy atmosphere. What more can you hope for from a brewery. Well worth the visit and a great way to start the beer trail in TC.

Great gastro-pub. I had a seasonal gluten free pizza and a beer flight(I know that contradictory). Gluten free pizza is more often than not — awful, but their crust was excellent for gf. The beer was great — there was a saison style ale that was among the best I’ve had.

I’m not a huge fan of the sit down, decide, get up and order, sit down, eat, get up and pay service model; however, the food more than made up for it. The Filling Station has an excellent beer selection to pair with stellar, above average eats that I can’t even classify as «bar food.» The Station and Eurorail salads were fresh and unique huge portions. The Cock O’ The Walk and BLT pizzas were not just made with quality ingredients, the thin crust was just about as close as I’ve ever come to a true, wood fired, thin crust Italian flatbread — meaning, the pizza was so delicious and delicate, I could’ve eaten the entire thing myself! Also, a very special note/tip for parents: If you’ve ever been frustrated by the over-complicated kid’s menus at other places, then you’ll love it here. The mac ‘n cheese is straight up Kraft and the sliced pears and applesauce are no fuss. This is the *perfect* kid’s meal for toddler age. Overall, I was extremely happy with the beer, the food, and the price.

We loved our pizza and salad. They told us it would be plenty for 2 people. It really wasn’t. I did find my favorite microbrew and I’m not a microbrew lover. It was the copper red rye bourbon ale. Perfection!

We bought the B.L.Tizza flatbread… So good. Highly recommend this place. Great pizza, great beer. Awesome atmosphere. It’s housed in an old railroad station. Doesn’t get much better than that unless you hate railroads or trains. Then you may as well move to Japan becuz you ain’t American.

Wood fire pizza was excellent. The gentleman working the outdoor bar was top notch friendly. The beer flight was solid, especially enjoyed the copper red bourbon ale. Absolutely loved this place.

The Filling Station Microbrewery opened in the spring of 2012 in Traverse City, Michigan. Located right off of the historic railroad district adjacent to an actual railway, the Filling Station offers a rotating list of craft brews, along with wood-fired flatbreads and salads. You order your brews and pizzas at the bar and grab a seat inside or out. At 700 degrees, the wood-fired oven crisps up the flatbreads in just a few minutes. On most nights, you’ll find live music outside. Along with the heat lamps and picnic benches, you’ve got the perfect setting for a fun night. But let’s get on to the food. Burlington Northern [$ 16] Garlic oil, roasted garlic, red onions, pear, prosciutto, brie, Parmesan, balsamic reduction The Burlington Northern was a nice mix of savory and sweet. The tangy sweetness of the balsamic reduction was complemented by the pear, with the salty prosciutto and Parmesan creating a countervailing element to impart some savoriness that was accented by the garlic oil and roasted garlic. The bite of the red onions was nice, with the brie providing creaminess and some funk from the rinds. The dough itself was crisp and nicely charred. The Spartan [$ 14] Marinara, crimini mushrooms, olives, red onions, pepperoni, prosciutto, mozzarella The Spartan was salty and savory, with plenty of pepperoni and prosciutto, mixed with earthy crimini and briny olives. The sweet marinara and mozzarella was interspersed throughout to bring it all together. Overall, The Filling Station hits the spot with its variety of craft brews and interesting flatbread creations. Each flatbread is plenty for two to share, but there’s nothing wrong with getting a few to change up the pace!

Reminiscent of a German Biergarten, The Filling Station Microbrewery ticked off all the boxes for a nice hangout, great atmosphere and good food and brews. The restaurant has outdoor seating with an outdoor bar, as well as an indoor space. We opted to stay outside and the staff efficiently explained the way they do things. You order(everything, drinks & food) at the bar and a server will take it to your table. We sampled several beers and I ended up with the weissbier to enjoy with my pizza. Hubby and I split a Mediterranean salad(think a really good Greek salad, served in a deep bowl/plate with a heaping mound) and two pizzas. I don’t remember the pizza ‘s names but they change their menu frequently so it doesn’t really matter. One had arugula, pancetta, onions, tomatoes, garlic and a balsamic drizzle and the other was a slightly spicy pie with homemade sausage, tomatoes, cheese and garlic. All pizzas are made in a woodoven resulting in perfectly crispy, ever so slightly charred flat bread type za. Delish! Many things here are homemade by the way. Obv the brews are brewed in-house, but they even make their own pizza dough, sauce, salad dressings etc. Very cool.

Flat-bread pizzas are not generally filling, but I’ll give this«station» a pass due to a combination of friendly staffers, interesting atmosphere and delicious beers. The Filling Station sits on a trio of train tracks just outside downtown Traverse City making it a hotbed for vacationers, bearded hipsters and boxcar hobos. They have indoor and outdoor dining spaces along with outdoor bars which make it conducive to drinking their heavily-hopped beers. The menu a trend-setting hipster blend of pizzas and salads that are topped with new-fangled ingredients like kale, aioili and lemon. Not the type of fare I wanted in a brewery, but unique enough where you don’t feel as if you are eating at Moe’s Tavern. The Station is part of this Brew Tour they have in Traverse City. Go to all the breweries and you can claim a prize at the Filling Station to go along with your slurred speech and public drunkenness.

This is the only place I would come if I wanted great beer and wood fired thin crust pizza(which is most of the time). Lots of beers available, especially IPAs. Many interesting pizza combos. That is what we have tried in three visits and we have always sat outside. Your mileage may vary.

The pizza here is very good. If it wasn’t so touristy expensive, I would rate it higher. We enjoyed the Conductor salad and the BLT pizza. We decided that although the pizza was the highlight of our visit, we hope to try the wolverine pizza next time. The location is very fun and family friendly. We say outside and had a seat next to the railroad tracks with a view over the Hull park and Boardman lake. The train theme continues throughout. We had a small table marker with a wooden track magnet train set engine and a beer sample platter with a metal locomotive cutout. The beers were limited and disappointing. They had many IPAs available during a summer month, but as my wife and I prefer malty beers(stouts, porters, reds, and other malty Amber options) we were sad to find only one brown, one red, and one stout. None of these beers was better than mediocre. We left after our meal and immediately went to visit another nearby brewery that we feel is significantly better. As an Untappd user. I was also frustrated and disappointed to find that one of their pale ales was not entered on that app yet when I ordered it.

I had a nice experience at The Filling Station. They specialize in pizza and beer, but make sure you get a salad. The way they treat their lettuce is great and it ends up being very crisp. Service is very friendly here. You order everything at the bar, food included, then they give you a number and will deliver your things to you at your table. My one complaint is that the entrance door was strangely hard to open, but other than that everything was great. The pizza crust is very crisp when it comes out and really thin, so you don’t feel overly heavy. Also, the view is really nice, especially if you’re there during sunset. The history of the location adds to its charm, but the food is also very tasty.

I don’t think it is possible to have something bad here! The flatbread pizza is seriously the best you will have around northern Michigan! I usually get the Stump Jumper because I love garlic and mushrooms and it is like a celebration of deliciousness in your mouth! You can also watch them make your pizza and use the stone oven which is super cool! I’m not much of a drinker, so I can’t comment on the beer part, but whenever I’m passing through this area I always stop for a pizza!
