This place makes me happy to shop at a small, local business instead of on the interweb. Prices are fair, the place is clean and the owner extremely knowledgeable. If there was a PhD to be had in homebrewing, Joe would have one. It’s clear this is his passion and he is willing to help you however he can. Helpful direction hint: it’s on 29(ignore the«Sanhican» bit) on the northbound side.

The place has everything you need but the main guy who works there is not very helpful and never seems to be pleasant. I actually dread going there but I have to because its the only place that has what I need.

Princeton Homebrew has anything that you need for home brewing. Joe, the owner, has a wealth of knowledge which he shares freely with his customers. He is very honest in his recommendations, and will also tell you when a product is something that you may not need.

Joe is great. He is friendly and will chat about anything(which led my wife to often ask«why does it take an hour to pick up a vial of yeast?») When you think of the kind of small business based on solid products and good service which you want to see thrive, this it it. I moved away for NJ and will miss our semi-annual chats.

You can’t go wrong when you talk to Joe! Very knowledgable and great resource. And a good selection for beer brewing!

Contrary to other posts, I never got the impression that Joe was friendly or talkative. He was always condescending to me. After talking to tons of people about homebrewing, I thought homebrew shop owners were supposed to be a great resource to talk to openly when first starting out about uncertain steps or ingredients in the process. I always got short answers that usually inferred I didn’t know what I was doing, which I openly admitted and was the reason I was there. The shop itself always had everything I needed and the prices were acceptable. But you don’t go to homebrew shops because the prices are good. You go because of the friendly environment. I went about 4 times, so I can say with confidence that I didn’t simply catch him on a bad day.

Stopped in today to pick up a better bottle for secondary fermentation. Meet Joe and chatted with him for a while. Nice guy and great store. I’ll definitely be back.

Great homebrew shop! I love the hop trellis window design. Joe is a wealth of knowledge and we always learn something when we visit. Our first trip to the store he threw my boyfriend and I some sunglasses and we toasted some grains with the sun in the parking lot.

This is the place to go for homebrew supplies… I love the charm of this place, and the owner Joe is a real character. FYI, it’s very easy to drive pass this building. So keep your eyes open. Also, very limited parking of 4 spots… but I have ALWAYS gotten a spot. Get in your car & go… you’ll be glad you did. Joe is a big help.

Jim had wanted to start making beer again, and we’re glad we found this place(former location was on Witherspoon). Joe, the owner, will talk your ears off and give you step by step directions for how to make beer. He’s very friendly and knowledgable, and if you wanted to do it on the cheap, you could, or you could be like us and buy both the brewing kit($ 75) and whichever beer ingredients you wanted as a kit(Russian Imperial Stout – $ 55). Most of the beers, btw, aren’t so pricey, but we’re fans of dark, rich, knock you on your butt beers. As a bonus, we found out that if we let the second fermentation go for 2 months, it will be smoother. And in 2 months I’ll be able to drink again – YEAH! Perfect timing! All of the raw ingredients and supplies are sold here too, from buckets and bottles to bins of hops for your own special blend. And if you have any questions during the process, Joe will give you his email in order to answer your questions. It’s nice to have an expert on hand who will let you know where the process is flexible and where it isn’t, and how to use the measuring instruments so that you aren’t completely overwhelmed once you unpack everything at home. As an added bonus, you get to see a side of Trenton most of us miss with giant mansions and gorgeous gardens which make you feel as though you’ve entered an alternate universe.
