Everyone knows what Godiva is by now. They have a variety of chocolate, sometimes shake, and even ice cream. It all depends on the location. My review is the one on the south side. I ordered my regular swirl ice cream with a cone. The swirl is a combination of white chocolate vanilla bean and dark chocolate. Their ice cream is to die for! I am glad I found a place in Michigan. If you sign up for their bonus card, you get one free chocolate every month. Also, you can ask for a stamp card. If you purchase 5 or 6 ice cream or shakes, you can one free. I have had several of their chocolates to their truffles. My favorite would be the dark chocolate truffle set. Overall, I had a pleasant experience here.

I think this chocolate is pretty well know. Wanted to drop a review on the staff at this location. They are stellar! I’ve been in maybe 15 times in the past few years, usually for a free monthly truffle while shopping, but quite a few times for bday gifts. They are great at helping pick something out, and putting together a small gift package. Taking into account what the gift recipient likes, and what flavors play off each other they’ve paired different items(ex. sweet truffle w/dark chocolaty sea alt bar). Thanks Somerset Staff.

Godiva has long been the standard for American chocolate. Yes, I said American chocolate, for despite it’s thin coating of Belgium flavor, is produced in good old Reading, PA. They used to be owned by Campbell’s Soup, who also owned Pepperidge Farm and Swanson’s but were bought by a Turkish company in 2007. Godiva is their most recognizable worldwide brand. When I worked here in the early 2000’s, the store was an Art Nouveau beauty, all carved wood and creamy interior. Nowadays, it looks metallically and severe, kinda like a space age soda fountain. Back in the 2000’s, a one pound box cost $ 33, now it’s $ 50! I’m not sure the quality has kept up, but some flavors are still the same. The Key Lime truffle is awesome, and so is the Cheesecake truffle. They do a very good Dark Chocolate Cherry Cordial. Things I miss are the Honey Almond Truffle and the Dark Chocolate Marzipan Hearts that came out at Valentine’s Day, but marzipan is a hard sell to Americans. Avoid the Gems, they are vile!

How can Godiva be less than 5 star ??? Just for Double Chocolate Rasberry Truffle alone they get 5 star in my book. & now they serve Dark chocolate Banana Chocolixir!!! Between Godiva, Tiffany & Apple store i might even get to not completely dislike Somerset collection.

Sure it’s pricey but when chocolate is a treat and not part of your everyday meals– it’s worth it for Godiva. Join their chocolate club, 1 free piece of chocolate every month without a required purchase!

Godiva chocolate is «a mule in a horse’s harness.» Fancy packaging and expensive, but low quality chocolate. As an aside, I’m not a total chocolate snob – I«slum it» with hershey’s kisses every now and then, but kisses cost very little $$$ and don’t masquarade as «gourmet» chocolate! I digress… For the price, Godiva should be using real vanilla and criollo beans(read: the most coveted and expensive beans). Godiva uses fake vanilla and I believe the more widely available and less expensive(and bitter) forestaro beans. As such, the price you are paying for Godiva is not proportionate to the quality! Look, I know that low quality chocolate can taste really good(i.e., reeses peanut butter eggs at easter?! awesome!), and I probably wouldn’t refuse a box of Godiva chocolates if GIVEN to me, but the price Godiva is charging for its low-quality chocolate is absurd! If you want«gourmet» chocolate, go to whole foods – they carry some nice Valrhona bars at reasonable prices($ 4 – 7 per bar, depending on what you get).

It’s not Christmas to me without peppermint truffles from Godiva. When I do my day-after Christmas shopping at Somerset, Godiva is the first place I hit up. How can I resist 50% off my limited edition sweet, creamy and refreshing white chocolate balls of joy?! All their holiday chocolates are 30−50% off! Did you leave someone off your list that you are visiting in the New Year? Go to Godiva! They’ll never know you saved 50%. They’ll say to their friends, «That So-and-So is the most thoughtful person!» Get there quick, before I buy all their peppermint truffles from under you!
