Service is great! Loved the selection of clothing. Needed a shirt for a Red Wings game and this was the place to go. All had a nice clearance selection. The store manager JR is fabulous! Super knowledgable and very helpful. Seems to go above and beyond for his customers.

JR the manager always goes above and beyond to try and make things work. He cares so much and will not give up until he finds a solution. My daughter is on the ice 4 days a week and he helps when no one else will. If you ever have a question he will answer it. Bottom line he always leave me feeling like I could shop nowhere else.

I would normally rate this as a 3, but due to what I consider the best skate sharpening in town, I give it a 3. The store is huge. Too big for the inventory, and it gives the feeling that it doesn’t have a lot of inventory. Granted if it were in a store half the size, it would look packed. I have bought some equipment there, but the selection was limited. I got a girdle and shell, typical list price, but there were only one pair of Warrior and one pare of Bauer. Went with the Bauer, and love them, I just wish they would have had a few more selections. My only other dig is that for sale items, you should go to Peranni’s. They have a great selection and many closeouts. Total Hockey is just closer to me, and like I said, the skate sharpening is the best in town. Which I consider a high bar being in Hockeytown. One other recommendation is to get the Platinum level of their Rewards. It is $ 49, butyou get a $ 50 store credit, you earn rewards, and best of all, on Tues. & Wed., you get a free sharpening.

My 4-star rating was apparently premature because this location treated a friend and I quite poorly during the holiday season. The Troy location didn’t know about a promotion that every Total Hockey was running starting in October. They also wouldn’t honor the promotion on certain items claiming that they weren’t included(they were, I bought the same things with the discount at the Novi location). I unfortunately wouldn’t recommend the Troy location to anyone after this, but still have a very high opinion of the Novi location where the employees have been nothing but helpful, friendly, and now apologetic about how the Troy location treated us(and my opinion of the Novi store is based on about a dozen visits, I’ve only been to the Troy location twice but the second encounter was more than enough for me).

Store just opened, went in the first week to pick up some socks, undershirt, and misc stuff.(and mostly to check out the buzz in the hockey locker room) Compared to the other TWOMAJOR hockey stores, this place definitely has a more«adult» feel to the store. The merchandizing is professional and what I’d expect from an actual«retail establishment» I noticed they have plenty of seating which I know when I was a kid my mom would love it. I noticed there were some hockey mom’s just hanging out while their kids were running around which is always nice to see! Store management doesn’t’ have the attitude of «I’m going pro, where did you play» that I’m used to getting at the other TWOMAJOR hockey teams. – RANT — That is one of the big reasons I don’t like buying my gear from the other TWOMAJOR stores is every time I go in looking for something, some 19 year old kid gives me the up down like I’m some pylon in the D leagues… I was dishing sauce before you were born junior… — ENDRANT — The selection of gear(number of SKUs) is good, but not quite as much as I expected. I think it could also be that hockey is out of season and the store is trying to figure out what’s up. However the quantity of items in stock is excellent and it’s super easy to get in and out of the store. As a hockey guy, I would want more hockey gear, and less swag… but I suppose that swag is high gross margin, and the average person can walk in there and buy someone a gift. One last detail: the designer for the store purchased«Big Ass Fans» brand fans, which is really awesome. It’s a detail that shows me that they actually care about the overal image and feel of the place. It’s one of those details that maybe 1 out of 1000 people would notice, but I did, and guys that know, know that there are cheaper fixtures out there but those fans are the best. Keeping customers comfortable in the store is certainly top of list for them. I’d go 5⁄5 on Total Hockey if they can up their SKU count. I’m a fan of Total Hockey, but as of week 1 being open, they don’t quite have enough SKUs to be a «superstore» Another ding is they don’t have a fitting room, which may not be «necessary», but I needed one to try on a shirt. Had to use the bathroom.(and the bathroom didn’t have any hooks to put up my shirt while I was trying one on…(again minor ding) Also I processed a return as my socks were the wrong size and it was really easy, and everyone there was nice.
