I’m not a fan. My cake was very lackluster. You get a generous chunk but to me it’s not all that. I give two stars for customer service. However, the cakes get dry really fast. It’s nothing special. The only thing I really like is that the frostings are not overbearing and too sweet. I experienced Cakes by Coco first at a wedding expo and sought out the venue. Not impressed.

I usually refrain from trying businesses when they are brand spanking new for various reasons. Sometimes they overcompensate or all the kinks aren’t worked out which reduces the overall quality or experience. About 95% of the time I will give a business a second chance if my first experience was not so great. Cococakes fell into that 95%. Upon returning I had a completely different experience from my first. This time I tried the Caramel Turtle Pound Cake, I also got a chance to sample the Double Butter Pound. The Caramel Turtle Pound is a butter pound cake with caramel icing that has been drizzled with chocolate and pecans. The cake was moist and the flavor was excellent. I loved that the cake had large pieces of pecans not crumbs or chopped pieces. According to Amanda, one of the employees, that particular cake is one of the top sellers. Some of the other top sellers are the Juicy Lemon Pound and the World’s Finest German Chocolate. With names like that they must be amazing. Cococakes also offers cakes for birthdays, weddings, holidays, and other special occasions. Whole cake orders need to be placed 3 days in advance either over the phone or on the website. After hearing about my initial experience Kina, the owner, refunded the tip amount placed on my friends card and offered me a free chunk. The owner also shared some interesting facts about how the shop was established. I couldn’t believe that it was established on the campus of Lincoln University. I also learned that the shop was around since 2006 in Stone Mountain before closing in 2012, maybe under a different name because I had no idea! They were also voted #1 for best desserts on the AJC’s Best of the Big A List in 2009. I’m excited to return and try that Juicy Lemon Pound. Mention was even made about possibly expanding the flavors available.

Wow did I say Wow, then believe me when I tell you. If you love good or great tasting homemade cake for real this is the place no matter the distance you make have to drive, make the drive. I stopped by this place after reading a write up in some magazine about it and decided to try it for myself. The pound cake and the carmel cake sent me into a praise. I will be back.

So I was in the area and saw that CocoCakes by Coco is new and so i decided to stop by and get a slice or two of cakes. I end up getting their world famous caramel cake and their fresh strawberries cake. Two slices of cakes set me back 11 $ and since the slice weren’t that big… it was a bit of an ouch. But its okay… the tastes made up for it. The fresh strawberries were really good! Not too sweet and the icing was really whipped, light and fluffy! I would come back just for that! The caramel cake were very sweet but the cake was really moist so I enjoyed that too! Overall, I would come back for the strawberries cake and try a different flavor.

I’ve been a fan of Cococakes by Coco since last year when I tried his caramel cake on roadtrip to Florida. It was AMAZING! So I was more than excited to see that he was celebrating his 2 year anniversary and opening up a new store front in Tucker. The new store front is easy to find, visible from the street and ample parking. The grand opening was wonderful. There were passed samples of some of their offerings including chocolate candies(which I had NO idea they made) and they were awesome! I couldn’t resist the temptation to get some more of that delicious caramel cake I was introduced to a year ago. I wanted my family to experience the goodness too so I bought everyone chunks. Of course, mine didn’t make it home lol! And the best part of the opening is they were giving 20% off to people who placed orders for cakes that day. I know I need to try some of the other flavors(because I know they’re all spectacular) but I’m so stuck on this caramel cake, it’s ridiculous, lol! I went ahead and placed an order for a whole caramel cake for Thanksgiving. I’m sure I’ll be in before then to get some more. Congratulations again Coco!

The service was great. They offered a sample when I ordered a ¼ sheet buttercream cake. The flavor and texture were satisfying and everyone enjoyed it. The price wasn’t bad for being fresh but they did charge extra to write«Happy Birthday» on it.

I am a cake junkie. I really love cakes that have great taste as well as icing. Cococakes are the best thing in Atlanta(and I have tried many). I love the chocolate cake, pound cake and the birthday cake. You can not go wrong with any selection. Definitely check them out!
