Very good experience. Good BBQ place on east side of Atlanta. Smoked chicken was very good. Inside and outside seating to enjoy your dinner.

½ rack of ribs plate with two sides. Last night was our first time here and we enjoyed it. You can request ribs wet or dry with 6 different BBQ sauces to chose from. 5 of us all were happy with our meals. Service was very good and restaurant is clean. We will go here again.

This place is very authentic. I’ve had ribs all over Atlanta but this place I must say have the best ribs in town. The meat was very juicy and tender. I can’t wait to go back. The people here are very friendly. Definitely recommend.

Good bbq. I am always on the look out for good bbq particularly after moving to a new area. While the sauces in my taste are not the best the hand made onion rings are delicious and the pork is good. Can’t wait to try other things on other visits.

Actually pretty good, despite what other people say. It is located in a rather poor area, so the exterior view isn’t the best. However, the outside seating is pretty nice, and the patio certainly gives a southern feel to the place. About the food, the selections were actually relatively cheaper than what I was used to, and the quantities were huge. It came on a nice tray metallic tray that gave the food a very homecooked, humble quality. Having lived in North Carolina for some time, I was really pleased by their array of bbq sauces and selection of ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. I got the chicken, which was extremely tender and filled with juicy white meat. The sides were great(the mac and cheese I heard was extremely rich) and the appetizers, despite being all deep fried and unequivocally bad for you, were all extremely flavorful and not lacking in quantity! Definitely would come back again if given the opportunity.

This place is great! Certainly not an inexpensive place to go but not overpriced either, but the staff is super friendly, the portions are generous and the food is pretty good. My whole family — wife, three kids, and me loved it and will definitely be back.

I am just not a fan of their bbq. I have been to quite a few barbecue restaurants and this one is not in my top 5. I always told myself I would try it since it is close to home. I did go back a second time to see if anything changed but unfortunately I still feel the same. My first problem is that if I drive by a barbecue restaurant I want to be able to smell the barbecue. I never smell anything when I drive by. The restaurant has a nice wrap around deck and lots of space in the inside. I even seen a band playing in the back room.

Great Bbq, and excellent service. They’re going for a local/craft concept with their beverage program, and I love to see that ideal spreading farther through out my home town. Thank you Jeremy for the best experience otp.

Food is good. Slaw is spot on. Don’t look for any prompt service though. Had to beg to get the check and refills

This was some of the best barbecue outside of the perimeter I’ve ever had! I’d give a 4.5 if I could. I wanted to eat here after seeing their profile on Atlanta Eats, and this place did not disappoint. The place on the exterior may look non-descript, but the inside is like your typical homey BBQ joint. Its nice and roomy and has very ample seating outside, perfect for a cool spring day. My server on this day, I forget his name, but he’s a tall bearded gentleman who was so good, attentive, friendly and his recommendations were on point! For starters, we got the potato skin appetizer with pimento cheese, chopped brisket and coleslaw on top. OHMYGOODNESS!!! One of the tastiest dishes I’ve had in a long time. I highly recommend getting this, and I know I plan on ordering this on future visits, its that good! An explosion of flavor… I opted for the two meat plate with smoked wings and ribs. The wings were nice and smoky and tasted very good, not quite Fox Bros. good, but still very good. The ribs were wet and juicy, smoky and fell off the bone, what more can I ask for? Their sauces, all of them were on point, in my opinion you can’t go wrong with any of them. Great compliments to your meats. Sides were tasty, got the potato salad and green beans. The food tasted like its made with love and that’s so hard to come by. Overall a great meal, I feel like I got my money’s worth. Especially since I ate here mere days after a horrible experience at a chain BBQ spot Jim n’ Nicks. You really appreciate quality and the love that places like this put into their food. I am a definite fan and will be back in the future to get my BBQ fix. I’d say this place lives up to its name!

Went for the murder mystery dinner, this dinner is more audience involved. The game its self is pretty fun not to mention it had a theme! However the food was not good at all. I mean not at all. emphasis on not at all. the ranch dressing was home made, and tastes exactly like mayo. The 2nd course was chicken, string beans and mashed potatoes, the food was ice cold. Artic… polar bear. below Fahrenheit. Some members of a party food wasnt done. The manager advised it was done after they sent the plate back and just gave them the food… It was only 2 severs, to serve food for about 50+ people. I had to wait extend periods of times to order drinks. Just allllll alll wrong

Best BBQ in town in my opinion. Their Mac and cheese is a dream. Their plates are huge and the smoked wings are delicious. They make great in house sauce and have a good selection of beers.

Best BBQ in town like other Unilocalers say! Food: 5 stars, service: 5 stars, ambience: 4 stars, cleanness: 4 stars. Delicious BBQ, a rib meat falls right off the bones, and pulled dry pork is moist, juicy, tender and flavorful. Selection of sides(tots and beans) and BBQ sauces were great too. What made me give them 5 stars is their dessert. I got peach bread pudding, and it was a nice portion in a pretty presentation, and it was semi– sweet taste enough to be able to enjoy the aroma of peach and the texture of pudding, and it was awesome. A lot of other places make desserts«way» too sweet, and sometimes they can’t even nail desserts. But their both food and desserts are so delightful and enjoyable. Service was very good too. I went there afternoon after lunch rush, but the restaurant was very clean. I will definitely go back there and explore the rest of menu. :)

This place is soooooo good I mean fried ribs I have never seen that EVER. Great food, very generious portions and fast service(we went during lunch and it was pretty busy). The mac&cheese, potato salad, onions rings and bbq sauces were delish. My friend got the pulled pork sandwhich she rated it on a scale from 1 – 108(must say the sandwhich was pretty big). The only complaint I have is that the collard green were a little bland.

This place has some of the best barbecue I’ve ever had, and this is a thing to which I(a Tennessee native) must begrudgingly admit. But let’s face it: the smoked chicken wing appetizer is perfectly smoky and charcoal-y, while still being tender and delicious. Add some of the magic Carolina sauce they have sitting on your table in a nondescript bottle, and FORGETABOUTIT. That Carolina sauce is made of unicorn tears and crack because I would happily drown in a vat of it. That’s how good it is. The pulled pork is delicious and so, so tender. The Texas toast is thick and buttery and has lovely grill marks on it. The second star of the show for me is their collard greens. I love me some collards and have been known to dump as much vinegar as humanly possible into a bowl of collards, but The Greater Good’s collards? Doesn’t need it. I’m dead serious. Their collards are so perfectly cooked and seasoned that they don’t even need any vinegar at all. They’re sweet but savoury, tangy but smoky, and have just the right amount of heat. Tip: dip that Texas toast in the pot liquor. Just do it. It’s so good. Their banana pudding is pretty good too! I hear tell of really good Carolina pie, but they never seem to have any when I’m there. I love Greater Good and will be coming back regularly for sure!

We were super happy with our trip to The Greater Good. My boyfriend got pulled pork, fries, and brisket chili. He loved all of them and ate most of my baked beans too. I got pulled chicken(wanted two sides so I ordered the ¼ smoked chicken white meat pulled) and it was amazing. Prepared like pulled pork. The sauces are great, similar to normal BBQ restaurant options like Sonnys. I mix together sweet and smokey and always add hot on everything! My baked beans were great. Didn’t love the green beans but it was just the way they were prepared and personal preference, I still ate about half. Plus we got to watch the(devastating) Falcons game on a large TV beside our table. They also have a variety of beer(no menu though) and it’s super cheap. Definitely recommend trying what we got.

I was really disappointed with my visit to greater good, particularly since I had high hopes. The place is easy to spot and has plenty of parking. My take out service was relatively fast … That’s where the good parts end. I got BBQ chicken(quarter dark) with mac and cheese and banana pudding. I wanted vegetables to go with it but both veggie options(there are only two: collard greens and green beans) had pork in them and since I don’t eat pork this was a no for me. French fries were available and a potato is a veggie, but not what I wanted. So anyway I was bummed. The mac and cheese was almost soupy. I prefer a drier mac and cheese that isn’t drowning in liquid cheese so this wasn’t edible for me. The banana pudding is visually unappealing. It’s white, completely not what I was expecting. It tasted average at best, I wouldn’t order this again. There are four sauce options you can get. When I told the cashier this was my first time and I didn’t know what to pick he gave me a sample of all four(Carolina, hot, something with an s, and some other kind). I didn’t like any of them, not a single one. The chicken itself was just chicken, nothing special about it.

My son and I went there for lunch after a soccer game. Very good barbecue — had the pork platter with collard greens and French fries. They give you a lot of food for the price, very good service. Big place with lots of tables. Highly recommend if you love barbecue places. Will return if in the area again.

Eh. So, I’ve lived in the area for quite some time and have noticed the name changes on this building quite often. I’ve noticed it’s been the Greater Good for a little while and I wanted some barbecue so we ended up here for dinner. We entered and a lot of the patrons were seated outside. I opted for the inside seating since I knew it was supposed to rain. It was definitely pouring raining once we left the establishment. The waitress was nice and prompt but unfortunately for her we hadn’t had a moment to look over the menu; much less decide what we wanted. We got to ordered a taste of four meat platter when she said they were out of ribs… No Bueno because that was my main goal for coming here… And they only had dark meat chicken. Come on now, an hour before you’re closing and you’re out of meats? OUTOFMEAT??? BARBECUE??? Uhh, NO I don’t want FRIEDRIBS. No, I don’t want dark meat! No. No. No! Eh. So the food we ended up getting was ALRIGHT but you better believe I will not be returning.

This location of The Greater Good Barbecue can be found near the Eastern end of Tucker — more on the Mountain Industrial side. This large location has been a few different restaurants but I’m happy to say that as a barbeque restaurant its finally found its true calling. The restaurant is large will expansive southern-style decks and room interiors. The building itself has very little to identify it as a great BBQ place — instead there’s a large sign out-front near the road that has«BBQ» in neon and«The Greater Good Barbeque» beneath. The entry is expansive and has plenty of access for those less able to move than you and I. There are American flags on either side and a prominent neon«Open» sign in the window. The interior has plenty of space for regular diners plus a huge wrap-around style porch so you can enjoy the evenings outside will nibbling on smoky delicacies. There’s also a large room that can be used for parties and get-togethers — it was there that I was introduced to this restaurant for my friend John S.‘s birthday party, when and where I was able to sample quite a few items — especially the pulled pork and chicken. Most recently I dropped in on weekend afternoon and sampled a two meat platter — pork ribs and brisket. I had heard that the brisket was good here and wanted to compare it to my favorites. I thought the ribs very good with an appropriate infusion of smokey flavor — this is open-pit style BBQ which happens to be my favorite. The brisket was juicy but sliced thin — I’m not sure if they’ll slice it thick — personally I think brisket is better served up in slabs, but that’s just my opinion. I also ordered the turnip greens and slaw as sides. The slaw is good but nothing special — it is a very solid creamy slaw that’ll work well on any sandwich if that’s your style. The greens, on the other hand, were some of the best I’ve had in Atlanta, filled with smokey chunks of meaty goodness. I could make a meal out of a bowl of these. I deferred on the beer since it was still so early in the day but noticed several local craft that would be on my list, including the Terrapin Rye Pale Ale — great selection here. Instead I ordered up a glass of unsweet tea(yeah, I know, a shame but regular sweet tea just seems to sweet to me and I always feel like I’m imposing when I order half-and-half). Overall the experience here is a great one with very friendly, accommodating staff and delicious smokey barbeque. The restaurant was very clean and brightly lit and there’s plenty of room for large groups. Now all they need is a monthly classic car rally and we’re all set. (longer review posted to my food blog)
