I used to eat here a lot. The atmosphere was in dire need of revision. I mean, I had been in almost every day for nearly three months, and no one there even knew I existed… and I’m a loud guy, mind you… They had the best hashbrown dish in town… when it came without the hair in it. I only say this because it happened on more than one occasion… actually, it happened five or six times… … …I need to stop giving second chances. Awesome hashbrowns + someone else’s hair in it = EEEW!!!

Wow. I am usually agree with Yvett on most reviews but we disagree a bit on this one. As a Rita Ranch frequenter I too became very excited about the Daybreak Café. I have gone several times and have to say that I have not be barreled over but I have enjoyed all of my food especially breakfast. The problem for me and the daybreak is that they do not do anything special. It is good but they need a trademark dish. The service is good. The décor can use some help but it was a nice addition to the RR area. Daybreak is closed due to lack of payment of rent… Ths happened right after they got a real sign too.

Wow… I hate to be this harsh but I guess anyone can open a restaurant now. I have been to this local restaurant twice. I only went back the second time because my mom liked something. So, here begins my horrific experience. I ordered a grilled ham and cheese and fries. something I believed to be quite simple and unable to be screwed up. My son ordered a grilled cheese. big mistake. While we were waiting for our food the two«cooks» in the back were singing country music really loud. I cannot say I expected professionalism, but maybe a little common courtesy. My food was brought to me and set in front of me burnt. Not only did the cook allow this food to go out, but the waitress set it in front of me like I should actually eat it. My son’s sandwich was also burnt. I left it sitting there because I wasn’t going to eat something that looks like a ten year old cooked it. It sat there and sat there and after the waitress came by for the third time, she realized that I wasn’t eating it. I told her that it was burnt and that I didn’t want anything else. When my mom paid the bill, she told her it was unacceptable to put food out like that. The waitress said she took if off our bill. Obviously, she missed the point. WHO puts food out that is burnt? A little lesson to this restaurant. if you are a new restaurant and want people to go to your establishment, try and maybe impress them.

–sigh– Let me start off by saying that I soooooooo wanted to love this place. I was happy when it first opened. Since it is walking distance from my house, I had imagined it becoming our little neighborhood hang-out. Also, it looks like a little mom & pop business, so I was really rooting for it to do well. We finally headed over this past weekend for dinner. I had a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings and it was good. Not, amazing but good. My daughter ordered chicken strips and fries. Her plate was tiny little chicken nuggets and some fries just thrown on there. No lettuce leaf, aspic, nothing. I was a little surprised at how it looked like they’d just been dumped onto a plate. My son ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and got just that. The same sort of sliced bread we use at home and American cheese. My first thought was that I could’ve made that for him. My husband ordered an open faced turkey sandwich with gravy, mashed potatoes and veggies. His sandwich was also on plain sliced bread and so it looked all soggy as soon as he got it. I tend to taste his food and I reached over and tasted the mashed potatoes. They were cold, bland, and tasted like those bad box kind of potatoes. Hospital food is about a million times tastier. He took one bite and left them all there. When they brought out the veggies, we were both shocked to see that it was a plate of frozen veggies probably microwaved with all the water left in the bowl. No seasoning on anything. You know like those bags of broccoli and carrots that you can buy frozen. I couldn’t believe the way the food was prepared. Never had I been to a restaurant and thought I could do way better at home. Then my son asked to go to the bathroom. .. . I took him and was waiting for him and started looking and the little decorations they had on the wall. They have these two little«bathtubs» made of cloth and cotton batting. One has a lady and one has a man. What caught my attention is that the cotton batting is supposed to be bubbles only the cotton was completely dingy and gray. I looked closer to check if it really was just dirty and noticed hair stuck in between the cotton. All I could think was«eww…these people are pretty dirty». Then«eww. .they’re cooking our food». That was that. I knew I’d NEVER be back. They make it a point to state that there are no refills on the lemonade. I found out once my daughter wanted more. Also, our bill was about the same price that one from maybe Denny’s or Village Inn would’ve been only with very bad food. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this to anybody. Stay at home and you’ll make something tastier that what we had there.
