We absolutely love this steakhouse. Drive down from Phoenix to eat here for good steak and then drive back. The owner up front is always extremely welcoming no matter how busy they may be. Great service and really good prices! Husband gets prime rib and a get New York strip with 2 kids bill is always under $ 60

Their french onion soup is pretty good! Everything else we had was… okay. As far as steakhouses go there is definitely better in this city. They got our attention as we drove past it for years on the highway, but sadly, we had no desire to go back.

Ok, so I have lived in Tucson for six years. I drive on I-10 and see this place every single day. Im not going to lie, its in an area which would never make me want to stop asap. I first came here for my husband’s company holiday dinner. I have to say despite my hesitation, this place is something that makes me comfy and hungry. For me it is the local steakhouse. The atmosphere is of locals old and young. I feel like I am eating at a ranch with grandpa cooking on the open pit grill. The menu is pretty bland, but it contains all the staples you may want, ribs, steak and chicken with various sides. The portion sizes come from big to small, but I suggest getting the normal sized ribs or steak and bring some home for later. Carb heaven with rolls and a baked potato is the way to go :) The salad bar is nothing to swoon over but it does the job. Since this place is a local place, it gets busy quick. Try to come on the off hours to really get a feel for the place. But heres a suprise for ya, the deserts are pretty darn good. HUGE! The mud pie is something to try out and a specialty. The service is touch and go, Ive had pretty good times there and even brought the kiddo once. So if you are in Tucson and want to sample some A-OK local steak fare, check this place out. Hey come on now, I saw that Adam Sandler was here not too long ago as well.

We are from the Orange County, California and stopped at this place after seeing good reviews on here. We were a little skeptical as we always are when trying a new place in a town we are not familiar with at all, but this was definitely a good choice! The place is clean, the lights were dim, the grill is out in the open so you can actually see your meats being cooked, and the staff was very friendly. The waitress attended us in a timely manner, was very nice and constantly kept checking on us. Special shoutout to the guy grilling! My brother had ordered a NY Strip but saw the Ribeye on the grill and the guy let him know that his order wasn’t on the grill yet and he could gladly change it AND he even remembered exactly how it was supposed to be cooked off the top of his head. The food was great,(liked that they had a salad bar too!), the ambiance was good and the staff was super nice!

We went here for a steak after work and unfortunately it was below average. The place is nostalgic and super old school, which I don’t mind at all. However, my steak didn’t have ANY seasoning on it. This was the first time I have ever purchased a steak at a restaurant and had to put my own salt on it. They give you a choice of soup or salad when you order a dinner entrée, the salad plates are like plates you feed a two year old with — SOSMALL. I paid for a larger plate. As far as the customer experience goes, they were super polite and wanted to make sure felt welcomed and valued. If I went back, I would definitely have to try something other than the t-bone that I had. It’s hard to mess up food on an open fire, unfortunately I was disappointed. I may return… who knows. Maybe I came on a bad night…

I’m from Los Angeles(suburbs) and it’s hard to find a piece of meat this quality for under $ 50 around here… I appreciated the cut of meat I had as it was juicy, tender, and flavorful as a straight old steak should be. It should be noted that they do not season their steaks, they simply grill them… which some may not care for. But upon receiving my steak, I did bit of pepper and a bit of salt on it, and I was happy. Everything else was honestly mediocre, service was fine, place was incredibly busy(during the Tucson gem and mineral show), the mud pie for desert was meh. But I will certainly go back again for that piece of meat if I’m in town.

Wow, I am in disbelief! Visiting here for the gem show and would you believe we came here cause read it was rated 4 out of 5 stars? We ordered a trio appetizer which includes fried zucchini, mushrooms and onions. The breading was so-so…It came with a ranch dressing and it came really watered down. We asked for a side of blue cheese dressing to give our app a bit more flavor… It was even worse than the ranch. No chunks of blue cheese and it tasted horrible! Guess standards in Tucson are different than other places. Steak has not arrived yet but I am highly suspicious I will be sorely disappointed based on the apps. Porterhouse finally came… It was not too bad. It was cooked right and meat was tender, nice size. Guess it would be tender since we ordered it medium rare. But wow… would it have hurt to add a little salt? The steak, the fries, and the beans! I would have preferred canned pork and beans over the uncooked, tasteless beans they served us. Thank God for Heinz 57 and A1 sauce! Apparently they think that grilling over mesquite wood requires no other seasoning. Frankly, we missed the mesquite scent from the steak too! Redeeming factor? We got a mud pie for dessert but we were pretty certain they ordered it from a third party vendor… Not coming back to this place again! 4 stars its NOT! Service however was not bad…2 stars go to her. Otherwise the the place is over rated and over priced! Go someplace else!

Truly disappointing. After being seated at a wobbly table the first thing you experience is awful tap water. They must get a filter system in place ASAP. Water was barley drinkable. The included salad bar is a missed opportunity. They would be better off abandoning it and just serving a house salad on a normal salad plate. The plates are so small even a modest portion will spill every where. the famed ‘cowboy’ beans where really dismal. Blander than anything out of a can. Seriously there was no flavor. as to the main dish. We split the 24oz porterhouse and full rack of ribs. The ribs were narrower than most places serve, yet where tender and the bbq sauce was tasty. Would recommend(if you couldn’t find a better place to eat). the porterhouse was very, very bland. I don’t think it even had salt and pepper on it. This steak was so bland I had to put bbq sauce on it.(yep sack religious) Tucson is full of great places to eat, this is not one of them. Try something else!

The best place for a steak in Tucson. Amazing prime rib. I was in town for a trade show. Went to two other places including a very popular Casino which was horribly and the service took forever. The Silver Spur Steak House was fabulous. The prime rib was the best. Well worth the wait. The service was very quick. I highly recommend the Silver Spur steakhouse. Next year I just coming here for all three days.

Cute staple of Tucson. I love that you can watch the open pit grill and see the action! I was really hoping that the steak would be as good as the place looked. However, I was pretty disappointed. I ordered the queen cut prime rib which was incredibly dry. I would compare it to a prime rib at a mediocre buffet at a casino. Luckily, I was saved by an awesome baked potato with two fat scoops of butter. Definitely a ton of toppings! If you’re watching your cholesterol or whatever then beware and maybe go for the fries instead. You can also choose from one trip to the salad bar or a bowl of soup(French onion or soup of the day). It was chicken noodle tonight with carrots which was delicious! In summary, the best part of the meal was the soup, the baked potato and the beer. The service was ok and location is a little questionable.

This is our go-to place for steak in Tucson. We dine at Silver Saddle at least once a month. We love that it’s a Tucson establishment. Our favorites are the prime rib, top sirloin, French onion soup and the homemade Mudpie. We get our steaks medium rare. The steaks are consistently tender, juicy and high-grade. We recommend getting the fresh horseradish with the prime rib. Just be careful because the horseradish is known to clear the nasal passages. I have tried the clam chowder and other soups, but the French onion soup is the best one. I also prefer the baked potato for my side. Save room for dessert… the Mudpie is huge, decadent and worth the extra calories.

Was excited to try this Tucson landmark, but as steakhouses go, it was below average and disappointing. The staff sure are proud of this place though, and I guess more than a few folks have bought into the propaganda. The place was packed-so much so that we could barely find a spot to park. I ordered the NY Strip steak, and my wife had the burger. It’s a rare occurrence(no pun intended) that I would get a craving for steak at a restaurant. I cook a mean one on the grill at home, so usually just satisfy myself and save the money. I wish I had decided to stay home… My $ 24 Strip was the most mediocre piece of beef I’ve ever tasted. Not quite cooked to my medium-rare, and utterly tasteless. It was the first time I have ever salted a steak! The burger on my wife’s plate looked good. It was certainly huge, but she reported that it was also nothing special. I appreciated the service very much. I found our waitress to be timely and attentive. Unfortunately the food really has to be on point to live up to the historic reputation of this place, and sadly it just wasn’t.

My boyfriend toke me for this New Years eve for dinner and we had reservations… we Still had to wait 30 minutes with reservation! I ordered the Queen steak and my boyfriend got the t-bone steak… both steaks were TASTELESS and dry… the size was good and it looked good, But a HUGE disappointment while eating the steaks. … The beans tasted like they were out of a can and COLD! the serving of beans they give you is less than half a cup… The baked potato was so small and shriveled! The salad bar is TOO small and very little selection of veggies and only 1 trip to the salad bar with a small cake/pie plate! SILVERSADDLE is overly rated and overly priced !!! The waitress was awesome and the two stars goes to her !!!

Once again, Tucson you never fail to amaze me. I find it ineradicable that in a city our size that a restaurant can have so much trouble finding severs and cooks(I use both terms loosely… because no one met the standard there) to run a respectable establishment. Poor Service and over rated over seasoned food to cover up the quality of ever less respectful meat. What is the point of making a reservation if you are going to find yourself seated in the lounge any way? Not clean, very low class in a poor run down part of town. Do not bother… go to Burger King instead better value much better food(than the Silver Saddle). That is not saying much I personally hate Burger King and would not be caught dead there. I wish I had never gone to the Silver Saddle and will never return. The staff is rude, the salad bar is sloppy and not clean the build is old with a smells and the grill apparently had not met someone to clean in who knows how long. The meat had just a nasty flavor that we could not eat it all. The potatoes if you want to call them that, frozen with a fridge taste and smoked leather would be a better description, taste as if they were part of some saddle that a cowboy had ridden on through the desert a 100 years ago. I made complaints to the server with no response from management. I fully understand I would be too embarrassed to say I managed there too. Perhaps, just perhaps, where in lay the problem… just bad management. After hearing so many good things about the Silver Saddle building up to the decisive moment it is extremely disappointing to find that they missed the mark so far. Please someone build a nice steak house in Tucson. We have such a fine city why can we not have a fine place for dining can anyone answer this? Randal Fisher

If I could give this place zero stars I would. All of our steaks were over done and we received our baked potatoes 30 minutes after we were served. The steaks were tasteless and dry as well as my $ 66 lobster tail!!! DONOTGOHERE!!! Waste of money and the food is mediocre.

Decided to have dinner tonight while visiting family this holiday weekend. Wanted to have a steak and this seemed like good a place as any. Waited about a half hour or so to be seated but not a big deal since it was rather busy and dinner time. Once we sat down and ordered it took an hour for our food to get to us. First, 2 steaks came out and they were warm at best. One of the steaks was ordered medium well, and came out rare. 7 minutes later the 3 burgers we ordered came out. 5 minutes after that our final 2 meals came out and the last meals to come out were cold and again not cooked to order. I expressed concern to the manager and he comped the appetizers ordered, but stated he was short staffed and the reason for the poor food quality. We still paid over $ 100 on our bill, and the food was average at best. I wish I would have had a better experience, but next time I visit Tucson I will not be stopping here.

Went to Silver Saddle Steak house for an impromptu dinner with mom & sis on a Sunday night. We started with the Round Up Platter, great fried mushrooms & zucchinis, onion rings & sirloin trimmings. Very nice. Had to season the sirloin though. Mom had the salad bar, she said it was just okay. I had french onion soup. Wow! It was so good. Sis had the tortilla chicken soup. Was flavorful, but very spicy(green chiles). Right when we saw main courses being served to a family that was seated after our party, our main courses were served too. Our steaks were served hot, and cooked perfectly! I had the king cut prime rib, rare. Mom & sis both ordered sirloin steak, medium rare. The prime rib tasted superb. The sirloins needed salt, but had the perfect char & grill marks, while still juicy pink inside. Baked potatoes were good too — can’t go too wrong there. Mom drank coffee, sis & I had the Ravenwood zinfandel, red. Good wine. And for dessert(yes, we went all out!), mom had apple pie ala mode, so good. Sis & I shared the mud pie. It was colossal! Our server was Melissa, and she was just so nice & polite. Very attentive.

Busy on Saturdays. We ordered drinks at the bar and were seated quickly. They have plenty of staff to keep customers happy. T-bone Steaks are on point every time. Cooked to order. Huge baked potatoes with fixings and cowboy beans to round out the meal. You can’t go wrong with this menu.

Came here today for an early dinner with the husband. We had an appetizer that had steak strips, onion rings, fried mushrooms, and fried zucchini. That was pretty good. My husband had the T-bone steak cooked medium rare(came medium) and I had the strip, cooked medium.(Also came medium.) The stars of the show were definitely the appetizer and side dishes. The beans and loaded baked potato were awesome. The salad bar was small, but had everything that I could possibly want. The steak was fine, but not magnificent. Maybe some seasoning. The service was fast and efficient. She checked on us at all the right times and was friendly. I didn’t catch her name. I have to say that for the value it was an awesome meal. I’m kind of upset that I don’t have anything witty or hilarious to say about this place. I’m at a loss for words, so I will leave it at this: go try it! :) Next time I’ll get cheesecake. I’ll report back soon.

Great food and cool atmosphere. We are here after driving from New Mexico and it was the only place We saw for food in the area that wasn’t fast food. Really neat atmosphere and pretty dark inside but the food was good. Steak was well charred and done great if you like charred steak. Wait staff was friendly and helpful and very knowledgeable. We sat by the grill area and you could actually see the chef lower and raise the grill using the wheel which was a neat experience. Juicy steaks and fresh food.

First I have to say that the Prime Rib is the best that my wife and I have EVER had. I loved the old West feel of the place. Reminded me of Texas and their mesquite pit steak houses that are fond memories of my past. The service was impeccable. Amber was up beat and positive. She kept my wife’s tea glass full and brought ice as needed. With each of my beers Amber always brought it to me with a new frosted glass. What a Complete Awesome Experience. We have to visit Tucson more often just to see Amber and the Silver Saddle Steak House

The only thing wrong with my experience here is that I waited so long to eat at Silver Saddle. What a deal! I had a hamburger(medium rare as requested, yum) for $ 7.50 which included fries and a trip to the salad bar. What a deal! Huge, delicious burger, yummy fixings at the salad bar, and good fries. Gonga! My friend had a big old steak and I tried it and wow was it tasty. It gets busy here on weeknights I hear so plan ahead! I’d love to do more of the salad bar but the star of this fabulous place is the meat. Check out the pit where they are cooking it up. I deducted a star because the waitress seemed surely and vanished most of the time. I’m sure this doesn’t reflect the place all the time but it did detract a little. I look forward to repeat carnivorous returns at this place. Make sure you map it if you haven’t been, it’s a bit deceiving to find it on Benson Highway.

From what I read this place is an institution, and It’s gotta be true, because on a Wednesday night, they were getting pretty full! The ambiance is very old school western. The wood planked walls, the dim lights, the fire pit, and the old school salad bar. It’s all reminiscent of something great. They have Prime rib and steaks, and they do both GREAT. I did the Prime Rib, medium rare, King Cut(middle cut, smaller is queen, and larger is cowboy) which I believe is 14oz. w/Baked Potato and French Onion Soup. The French Onion was delicious. The cheese was nicely melted, and mixed well with that beefy broth. The prime rib was cooked to order, and deliciously tender and tasty. The baked potato was a baked potato, If you don’t do it wrong, its great. They give you a side of bread in the beginning, but It wasn’t as good as i had hoped. It was crispy and warm, but the flavor was a little bit too plain considering the types of breads you get at other steak houses. Also had the fried trio, mushrooms, zucchini, and onion rings. The zucchini was awesome, however the mushrooms and onion rings were a bit too plain for me. Will order the zucchini exclusively next time. Only downfall? No potato skins… but otherwise, This is a must try in this old part of town!
