I’m not usually the type of person to leave Unilocal reviews — I’ve worked in restaurants and generally try to be pretty understanding of mistakes and other issues. There are obviously some questionable reviews to be found, but I decided to be optimistic and brush them off, in favor of feeding the demands of my hangover. I ending up dropping around $ 35 on delivery, after the fee and a tip, so this experience was all the more disappointing for that fact. Delivery took about an hour, which was the estimated time I was given via Eat Street, so no complaints there. I ordered the sesame chicken lunch special, and thankfully the container was wrapped in plastic because the chicken, sauce, and fried rice had all ended up piled on one side of the leaky box. The soup that was advertised as part of the special was nowhere to be found(although I got two sets of cutlery that included spoons). The steamed dumplings in the order were missing a sauce that they are supposedly served with, and the spare ribs I also ordered came as a literal slab of meat. Luckily I was at home and able to supply my own knife to separate them — not much to speak of there, flavor-wise, which was pretty much the experience across the board. At least I got a nice can of Thai tea. Probably order somewhere else and save yourself the money and disappointment. Edit: I just got a phone call from the restaurant informing me that they had received my order but that it’s too late in the day to get lunch special pricing…4 hours after my food was delivered. The girl was nice, but they are really having a hard time over there today.

DON’T WASTEYOURTIMEYOURMONEYORYOURAPPETITE! If there were negative stars I’d give it that. This place used to be great I would come here all the time, but now it has new owners who are in CHINA and have left a bunch of kids in charge. Everything we ordered on the menu they had to come back and say they were out of, the cook was walking through the restaurant in a filthy apron and no gloves smacking gum and carrying a screwdriver, and the poor man who came to deliver something to the place gave us our appetizer, HEDOESN’T EVENWORKTHERE! Never been so disgusted then the teenagers were the ones who yelled at us. Awful awful awful worst experience I’ve ever had and it should be shut down by the health department.

Meeeeehhhh… Not particularly clean, poor interior with bad music on bad speakers. The food was very mediocre and lukewarm as much the same way the server was. I remember this place being good, but will not go back.

Like many long-time Tucsonans, I’ve been coming to «The Omei» since Magdalene Gerrish was there to tell me «You no like… that not good. Try sesame chicken… you like. Good for young people!». It was never the same without her, but with only a few options for good Chinese in this Asian-poor Pueblo, it’s still a go-to when I want General Tso, steamed rice and(of course) sesame chicken. I like that their delivery network reaches us south of downtown, an area infamous for being outside of the delivery zone for most restaurants(even though it’s closer than spots north). Delivery is usually pretty quick and always polite. I used the Unilocal online system to order this time and it was easy and even quicker than expected. Gotta love quick. The General Tso comes with the sauce on the side so the chicken breading doesn’t get soggy… that’s an extra step that I really appreciate. I feel like the portions are getting smaller all of the time, though, and that the quantity of meat in the dishes is also getting scarce. I love veggies, don’t get me wrong, but cost wise it doesn’t make sense. A Tucson original that has more sentimental value than currency — but then, an eating experience has many important flavors…

I absolutely love this place. The food here is great I’ve never had a bad experience and with my fingers crossed hope I never do. The prices are also very reasonable and service is usually good obviously depending on the day and time it’s a little slower. I like the atmosphere as well it feels very family orientated in a little bit of a cluttered way.

Why does every Chinese joint in Tucson need to bread their chicken? Teriyaki chicken shouldn’t be breaded. Also, fried rice should have other chopped goodness in it, not just rice & soy sauce. Leaves much to be desired.

Ordered via grubhub. General Tsao’s chicken was DISGUSTING!!! dude seriously, mixing shit is not called preparing food. Please go to other good and local chinese restaurants, try the general tsao’s chicken and try to mimic that. At the very least, watch a youtube video on how to make general tsao And these idiots did not deliver my soups at ALL. After grubhub called them, they only delivered ONE and missed my other soupd AGAIN. Height of stupidity. I dont know how other food items are, but stay away from general tsao’s

I ordered takeout at 7:30. 9:00 rolls around and I call to see what the holdup is and guy on the phone says he doesn’t know and will call the delivery driver. 9:30 rolls around and I call 16 times in a row with no answer(because they should be closed at this point). Finally, I get a call at 10:00. ten o’clock! TWOAND A HALFHOURS after I placed the order! The manager says they had the wrong number. If they had the wrong number how did they finally get the right number to call me? I’m more baffled at how they ignored all my calls thirty minutes before that! they had the right address and delivery guy says he knocked but he must’ve knocked on the wrong door!

Very sweet staff but completely mediocre food. Kung Pao was supremely boring — of all things it tasted most strongly of celery.

Authentic Chinese food plus great service. One of the top restaurants that Asian students like the most.

Only place in all of Tucson that doesn’t serve Malaysian style(with potatoes) Curry Chicken. First time going and the Curry Chicken was amazing had all the right vegetables. I also had Egg Rolls and they were the right consistency, chewy, delicious and not overly greasy like other places near campus. Will be telling friends about this place and will be going back for sure.

Terrible service from people working thursday 10⁄28. UNDERNEWMANAGMENT. The new menu is not updated on their website or on eat street. Staff only agreed to refund $ 2 dollars for an incorrect item if i would wait until after closing hours and wait for staff delivery drive to pick up an incorrect side of vegetables from my home as proof. i have been a visitor of this restaurant for over 20 years and never have i been treated so rudely and straight up insulted. The«same» items are definately not the same. If you are a vegetarian watch out. all the veggies have been change. I would give zero if I could.

This is my go-to neighborhood Chinese. Delivery is prompt and polite; food is tasty and they don’t skimp on veggies. One thing I love: they offer mai fun noodles(the spelling of which I’m probably butchering). When I try to order them at most restaurants, I usually receive a weird look. Something about the fluffy rice vermicelli instead of the heavier wheat noodles makes me happy. Their prices aren’t the most competitive and when I’ve gone in to pick up instead of having it delivered, the atmosphere was a bit depressed, but when it comes to consistency and quality of food I’ve been satisfied every time.

Tonight I had $ 45 stolen from me. I ordered Szechuan Omei Restaurant delivery at 6:38pm. At 8:38pm I called to ask about my order. I was informed that they had thought my order was part of another order that was cancelled. I asked what they would do about the mistake. They said I could receive my order or get a refund. I asked for an apology and received a very begrudging one. I let them know how disappointed I was that they mess up my order EVERYTIME and I have always been very chill about it, and yet they always either sass me or ignore me. I asked that they still deliver my order. At 9:38pm I went to their restaurant to find out where my food was. They were closed and the place was deserted. At 10:15pm I had to go to the grocery store and buy fixings for dinner. I will never buy food from them again, I order a lot of take out Chinese and they are the worst by far.

Used GrubHub to order from Szechuan Omei for delivery. The Good: order was here quickly. The delivery guy was friendly.(Thanks Xavier!) The Bad: the meal was supposed to come with steamed rice. In fact, each entrée was supposed to come with steamed rice. We ordered 4 entrees. There was no steamed rice. Ordered green beans. They called me to tell me they were out(which I appreciated), so I ordered another vegetable dish, a mixture. Everything was rather slimy and the mushrooms were obviously canned rather than fresh. No flavor. I ordered my favorite Orange Chicken. The chicken was so tough it was difficult to bite and chew. Clearly the chicken had been microwaved, and for way too long. Inedible. The sauce came in a separate cup. This dish is much more satisfying when it is finished with the sauce the last minute or so of cooking. It’s all about flavor and texture. The orange chicken had none of the former and too much of the latter. The fortune cookies were the best part of the meal… Leftovers are going in the trash. Will stick with Old Peking across the street. . . . edit: a few days later, we ordered from Old Peking using Eat Street. Like night and day.

I’ve been here several times and despite trying my best to love them, I just can’t give them more than three stars. The food is better than many Chinese restaurants in Tucson, but you really don’t get much food for the price. This is particularly true of the lunch specials. You may as well order off the regular menu as the amount of food you receive with the lunch specials can’t fill a small child. The staff is always nice and if you order takeout, they are fairly fast.

After ordering delivery from this place 3 more times, I have to change my rating due to inconsistent and careless service that seems to escalate with each delivery order. Long description: The 2nd attempt went smoothly. Ordered two lunch specials that came out fine — Northern Style Vegetables, Bean Curd Family Style Lunch, and Vegetarian Egg Rolls. On the 3rd attempt, they didn’t get my order right(Sizzling Vegetables with Crispy Rice.) The re-delivery took over an hour, which was painfully long. It may have been the hunger talking, but I enjoyed it — it was worth the wait to try their stir fried tofu and Shitake mushrooms. I figured this unfortunate experience was an anomaly, so I brushed it off. On the 4th attempt(tonight), I ordered the Sizzling Vegetables again. Upon arrival, I noticed that it was not the same dish that I had before. On the website, I expected«Stir fried bean curd with fresh crunchy snow peas, mushrooms, black mushrooms, celery, carrots, and baby corn. Served with golden, sizzling rice. A Chef’s Recommendation!» like before. However, I received soft tofu instead of the bean curd… with no Shitake mushrooms present at all. It pains me to write this review because I had such high hopes for this place. Not worth the stress.

Never again! This is just how our dinner was delivered. This is what $ 24 gets you here! Or rather $ 28:order egg rolls(tiny), order crab puffs and 1 dumped over chick chop suet. Main dish’s sauce is all over the OPENED container… No condiments(i.e. sweet-n-sour for the tiny egg rolls and crab puffs)… and… yes, was delivered exactly as you see! Handed over box by box. Apparently it took a tumble in the delivery car, but then you should go back and regroup. Terrible! On a fair note, the driver did offer to bring back some sweet and sour ssuce??? Ummmmmmm… no thanks, we’ll just order pizza!

My family has been coming to this restaurant since it was run by Magdalene Gerrish in the 1980’s(wow I’m old). Now, I live in Sam Hughes and it’s close to the house so it’s been my first choice for good Chinese for the last three years. And the quality has been great up until recently. The service and the food quality has been REALLY disappointing. Took the family and the service was so bad and the food so mediocre that we promised not to be back. I’m mad we wasted our money there. There’s been a management change and it’s sadly apparent for all the wrong reasons. The main seating area is now being used as a storage/office area as well as the place you pay to eat. The food tastes incredibly … average. If you can’t do a basic egg flower soup that tastes good then how can I believe you can do something more difficult??? And our server was just RUDE. She was obviously bothered by us wanting to place our orders and needing drinks. We couldn’t get much attention after we got our food. But by then we were kinda over it all anyway and just wanted to go. So we did. And we won’t be back. I’m sad.

Well I tried. I’ve eaten here a few times in person and the food is good for American chinese. Nothing spectacular and nothing inedible. Tonight though is worth a thousand words. We are currently sitting on hour 2 of waiting for delivery. This is my first time ordering delivery but it’s been very bad. I called an hour after my promised time(online order) to see the status, and they had run into some issue where the order never got made. Then they quoted me 20 minutes and it’s been another 60. Props to the man I spoke to though who said Id get a refund. In summary, eat there in person? Sure. Order for delivery? Never again unless I want to wait over 2 hours thinking food was on the way, and the no food ever shows up.

I don’t get it. We’ve eaten here for a long time but recently it has gone downhill. The last time we ordered take home, hubby’s was fine but my sweet/sour chicken was nothing but breading. The rice was cold as well. I thought it might have been a fluke. Nope. Tonight, we ordered online through eat street. 30 minutes, hubby heads over to pick up our order. They hadn’t even looked at the online orders and told hubs it would be 20 minutes or so for them to cook it. No thanks. He cancelled. After reading some of the recent reviews, it’s apparent that this place has gone down hill. Fast. It’s too bad. We were looking forward to them getting their patio finished. I guess we’ll have to find a new go to Chinese place.
