Came here on a weekday night for dinner. The neat thing about the menu is that there is a different special every day– for example on Thursday night when we went the appetizers are all half off! I’ll start with the fact that there wood-fired pizzas were pretty good. We had the Sweet Italian pizza which was a good combination of prosciutto, cheese and arugula. The appetizer for us was a bit of a disappointment. We had the Godfather dip which was described as ‘whipped lasagna in rich tomato sauce and parmesan cheese with garlic bread’ — sounds interesting and delicious no? In actually I have no idea what was lasagna about it and it was a simple marinara with negligible cheese and non-garlicy plain bread. Overall a no– go. We then had the P.L.T. salad with iceberg, pancetta, walnuts, red onion which to me was also a failure. The iceberg tasted old and wilty and lacked the crisp I love about iceberg lettuce. I will say that the fiancée thought it was a good salad… I think because he enjoys pancetta more than me. The ambience is nice, casual and spacious. Our server was good despite being fairly busy. I’ll probably try other places than coming back.

Everyhing I’ve had here has been delicious! I would highly recommend the white bean purée(a little spicy) and also the spicy meatball pizza.

Pretty strange pizzas but they have a make your own option. Place is pretty trendy for a pizza joint. Have been twice and both times I used a living social. I would say overall the pizza is tasty and I would return if I had another LS deal. Kind of over priced if you don’t have some type of coupon.

a friend and I split the chop salad and the veggie pizza. The portions were large enough that we were both full and even had a few slices left over to take home. a great lunch! I thought the flavors on both were very well balanced. The salad had a nice dressing but it wasn’t drowning in it which was great. the veggies tasted fresh and the interesting combinations of them were really surprising and tasty. the service was reasonable. since they give you a large water bottle on the tables(THANKYOU!) there wasn’t a need for them to come by often and check on us. which was perfect for us since we were catching up and chatting for the entire lunch. They didn’t seem especially engaged with their patrons but did an adequate job of taking orders, serving food, etc. so I think this is a solid choice for some nice pizza, salads, etc., on the east side.

I came to The Heist for the first time because of a combination of their Unilocal reviews, the $ 8.99 lunch, and the fact that it’s a new«concept restaurant» from Aaron May. I already like May’s Counter Chicken and Waffles, so I was eager to try out The Heist. The strange pizzas set my imagination on fire and, intrigued, I ordered the Sweet Italian: proscuitto, gorgonzola, mozzarella, cherries, honey, arugula. Read that list twice, I’ll wait. The lunch special is an 8 inch pizza(it might actually have been larger when it came out) and a salad. Since a pizza that size is easily enough for two of me, I think this is a great deal. My only question was whether the house salad comes with carrots, which I am allergic to(it doesn’t). My salad was light, fresh, and tossed with a gorgonzola ranch dressing. The dressing was mild but distinct, and this might have been the best side salad I’ve ever had in a restaurant. I wasn’t sure what to expect from my pizza. I ordered on instinct, but I’ve never had a pizza with this set of toppings. When it arrived, it was larger than I expected. The top was covered in fresh arugula, with corners of prosciutto peeking out at the sides. Reading«honey» and«cherries» on the topping list did worry me that the pizza would be very sweet. It wasn’t. It was surprisingly balanced. The weird gorgonzola, the sweet honey, the pungent arugula. They all came together. Actually, it turns out I’m not a huge fan of arugula, but I still thought it worked on the pizza. I ate a little more than half the pizza(I was stuffed!), and took the rest home. Service was quick at the beginning but seemed to slow down when I was ready for a to-go box, and waiting to pay. It was lunch time, but not extremely busy. Would I go back to The Heist? Yes. Definitely yes. I have to try more of those wacky pizzas.

I NEVER thought I’d say it, but I enjoyed the«veggie» pizza. It was by far the best I’ve ever had. Overall a good selection of pizza and the service was good as well. I would definitely recommend the heist. And look forward to trying a few others next time.

Very interesting toppings. I’ve never had honey on a pizza. It was delicious. used a living social. glad i bought it. nice music, big screens with soccer on. comfortable booths. very nice waitress. very unusual toppings on the pizza. corn grapes, green vegies, honey. thin wood fired crust(i think, oven sits right out in front of kitchen). i arrived just after it opened, then it slowly filled up until noon. i sure wish there was a way to learn of these nice places(i know use Unilocal) its a bit pricey. go during lunch specials.

The food(lunch pizzas and Caesar salad) was great however, after we paid the bill, including a 20% tip, we stayed to chat another 30 minutes and the server never returned to refill our drinks/water or ask if we wanted anything else. There only 4 other tables occupied when we stopped for a late(2pm) lunch Good food, below average service.

I’ve been here three times now and have sampled enough of the menu that I wanted to go ahead and give ‘em a Unilocal. My first impression of the place was kind of mixed, but it’s grown on me since then. The sauceless Bianca di Pollo pizza we had the first time was short on chicken and supposed bacon but heavy on weird with the addition of corn and grapes. Yes, I said grapes… on pizza. I know, right? The white bean purée we had was garlicky goodness. It’s happy hour so it’s all washed down with a couple of Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA’s which, is getting harder to find. Since then, I have had: Italian Grinder Sammie — 3 stars Korean Wings — 3 stars Spicy Sriracha Wings — 4 stars Spicy Meatball pizza — 2.5 stars Green Eggs and Ham pizza — 4 stars Small Caesar Salad — 4.25 stars My most recent visit was the most successful with the spicy Sriracha wings, Green Eggs and Ham(prosciutto, arugula and a fried egg) and Caesar salad making a good impression. That, and the $ 8.99 lunch deal(one pizza and small salad), are probably the reason for four stars. If I were to pay menu price at dinner I would say it’s overpriced. It’s in my neck of the woods and probably left enough of a mark on me that I’d go back to keep exploring the menu.

I haven’t been more disappointed in a restaurant EVER! First of all, we were placed at a table that is practically in the middle of the waiting area by the front door. Secondly, the décor is so blah I couldn’t even believe it. It was a really sad sight. The pizza had absolutely no flavor. The appetizer of almond crusted feta cheese with roasted red pepper was a joke. There were five tiny balls about the size of a quarter and two little strings of red pepper in the middle of the plate for $ 9. That wasn’t even an appetizer for one person. Then, the side of roasted beets for $ 5 was ridiculous! I am in utter disbelief of how disappointing this first and last visit to The Heist has been. Their name says it all!

Just visited this place and I may have been disappointed if I didn’t have my Groupon deal. I’m not saying it’s not tasty in it’s own rite, but I just didn’t know what to think with my first experience. The pizzas they have on the menu were all a little too off the wall for me. Some had grape. Some had honey. Perhaps I’m a little old school but this type of menu wouldn’t suggest pizza parlor to me. I settle on the smoked ham with prosciutto and my girl got the margherita. Hers was made with white sauce and seemed too bland. Mine was pretty good but the prosciutto strips were a bit huge. Each pizza is maybe supposed to be for two but it could be easily be good for a hungry solo. Their happy hour will get you $ 0.99 off of beer(sad), but seemed to have some decent appetizers available. Overall, I don’t know if I’ll come back for a full priced meal because this didn’t feel like something I’d pay nearly $ 40 for but I’m not writing it off completely.

I really wanted to like this place. As others have mentioned, the atmosphere in this place is just weird. I was expecting this restaurant to have some sort of typical pizza joint feel, but I honestly think like they’re trying way too hard to make this place give off a classy hipster vibe. Water is served from a glass bottle. Cool, but strange for a pizza place. The chairs aren’t very comfortable if you’re sitting at a table, but the super dimmed lighting is kind of interesting. I also thought it was kind of odd that this place doesn’t offer any type of bread appetizer. I had the classic pepperoni pizza($ 10.99 and large enough for two), and I thought it was pretty tasty. Based on other reviews, I was expecting it to be super thin, but it was actually just right. The pepperoni slices were huge, and everything tasted very fresh. I do wish that the pizza included a serving spatula, but I guess our forks did the job decently enough. When all is said and done, I probably won’t be coming back. The atmosphere is too strange and it just didn’t have the most welcoming vibe. That doesn’t mean you won’t like it though!

Stopped in for lunch and was surprised. The pizza is amazing. The ingredients are so fresh and lunch specials for 8.99 include a pizza or pasta and a salad. Its about the size of small pizza. I had a pepperoni, muschroom and olive. Yummy. The Cesar dressing is great. Fun atmosphere. My friend had the Alfredo. It was so good too. I will definitely be back to try more.

Decided to eat here on a whim. Admittedly we were intrigued solely by the name, however we were treated to an experience that far exceeded our expectations. Service was friendly, efficient & thorough. The overall aesthetic of the place is very clean, with a subtle downtown/retro feel. True to its namesake, several of the cocktails are named after real famous/infamous heists, and the rest of the menu is sprinkled with a few playful puns. We ordered the calamari salad, sweet Italian pizza, white out pasta & spicy meatballs. The meatballs were very hearty and had chunks of fresh ingredients. They definitely tasted handmade, not frozen. The sweet Italian pizza was a great combination of diverse flavors and larger than we expected. It was also baked in a brick oven that could be seen from our table & adjacent to the bar. Just a fair warning: I’ve seen a lot of reviews here complaining about their crust being too thin or not meeting their expectations. Don’t go in expecting New York, Chicago or any other style(especially not Dominos, for crying out loud). It is their own take on pizza. Not every pizza is loaded with sauce and toppings, but every ingredient is definitely high quality. I’d rather my pizza have a perfect portion of quality ingredients than be loaded with junk. We will definitely be back often for their pizza & meatballs, as well as try other things. We hope this place sticks around!

My daughter and I are visiting The Heist for the first time today after having driven passed it several times. Who can pass up a restaurant with the name ‘The Heist Pizza Parlour’? My daughter chose to sit on the patio after realizing the hostess was about to seat us at a small 2 person table(no one really likes those small tables and restaurants should try avoid installing them.) The menu has many options for kids, adults and also the picky eater. Menu items include pizzas, sandwiches, salads and more. They have happy hours and Sunday is happy hour all day. The hostess was very accommodating to us and the waiter greeted us nicely with a bottle of water and glasses. For our lunch meal, my daughter ordered a kid’s cheese pizza and I ordered a ‘Margharetta’ pizza. I was tempted by the ‘Everyday I’m Brussell’in’ because of the funny play on the song name but liked the simple ingredients the ‘Margharetta’ pizza offered. My daughter gives the restaurant 3 stars with the food getting 4 stars but the ambience a 2(she sat in the sun because of the lack of shade on the patio which made her slightly uncomfortable). I give the restaurant 3 stars. The ‘trying to seat us at a 2 person table top’ earned them 1 star but the food at reasonable prices with large portions a 4 star. The fact service was so good and the hostess so accommodating pulled up the average to 3 stars.

i’ve been wanting to try this place since their opening on broadway/kolb. i am always looking for a great pizza! came here for lunch yesterday with a friend and got there about 15 minutes before they opened. we sat outside on a nice bench in the front. time came and went and it was finally past 11AM. i guess i didn’t hear them unlock the door. usually, when you see people waiting outside your establishment, it’s common practice to let them know you’re open and to come on in. the hostess sat us at the booth immediately behind her stand. the interior décor was nice. very modern, comfy seats in the booths. the menu had a decent selection. there are appetizers, salads, pizzas and«sammies»(sandwhiches) to choose from. we started with the garlic parmesan wings. they’re bone in, which i don’t mind but they should consider getting bone out options as well. the garlic parmesan was good. lots of garlic. a bit greasy, though. they were served with a side of ranch dressing. also ordered a build your own pizza. basically cheese(added ricotta and garlic). it came out alright. the edges were charred because of the fire oven. i don’t mind that either, it adds some good flavor to the pizza. but it really dried out the crust. the toppings i got weren’t too tasty, and i felt like they kind of skimped on the cheese. service was okay. kind of slow, considering we were the only people in there for the first 20 minutes. i really hate asking for refills on my beverages, but i had to wave the guy over a couple of times. may consider this place in the future, but not again anytime soon. there are other places around tucson that have way more to offer.

I really really want to like this place but I can’t…until they get their food right. Why Dry River can make a decent pizza and Heist can’t? You’ll be surprised Tucson have quite a few very good pizza joints such as Vero Amore, Reilly, Grimaldi or even Rocco’s Chicago style pizza. Heist just not up there. Plus skimpy on the toppings(lack of flovors BTW) just not right! Service earned another star!

«Be careful. There are pits in the olives.» And with that little warning, I was introduced to my first Heist pizza. In the interest of saving customers’ teeth, instead of giving a warning, they should mince the olives to spread the good taste all around. If they’re going to charge gourmet pizza prices, they really need to make this a better and safer dish. The restaurant itself is comfortable and inviting. They even have outdoor seating. With all the great pizza places in town, I doubt we will be returning soon.

Soooo I’ve been so excited to have another Eastside restaurant open we really lack! But, I think the newness is still in affect. Waited about twenty minutes not bad for a table. Went to the bar to wait loved the bartender! I didn’t see a wine list so I asked for a good red he recommended a petite Syrah and it was yummy! Got to the table again service was great. Loved the water service! I ordered the GF mushroom pizza hubby ordered the sausage not GF. Bonus points just for the GF option:). Bad thing my pizza came looked burnt but, came cold! Mushrooms never should be cold! Hubby’s pizza yummy not cold. They were very kind replaced my pizza and it was good. We also split a tiramisu and it was the best I’ve had! So we will try again think it was growing pains.
