Worst experience at a GG ever! When this place opened, it was top notch, now I’m watching an employee eating food, on the dining room floor, ABOVECLEANFLATWARE! Our server spilled my beer(honest mistake), by the time I got a replacement, it was warm. I’ve been waiting to get my debit card, the entire time I’ve thought about and, written this review. Also, it’s really wonderful listening to the Mexican cooks singing incredibly loud, while the cook on the grill. I don’t mind other cultures music or whatever but, I don’t want to hear these guys sing loudly over the music and, our conversation. Never coming back to this location, the GM should be fired.

Nothing too special. Good for a quick bite with friends. Good selection of add-ins but other then that, nothing too exciting to make me come back right away. Food was good temperature when delivered with friendly service. Average food for an average price.

The food tastes ok. However, the part where it comes to the liquid seasonings where they meter out how much you can have is for the birds. In a traditional Mongolian BBQ place you can put as much liquid seasonings as you pleased to. I’ll also note that when in comes to ordering the starch you better speak spanish, or otherwise God knows what you’ll get. I learned to say aroz café in order to get brown rice. Genghis grill also doesn’t have the plum sauce that you might find at a more traditional Mongolian BBQ place. Going to Genghis Grill is fun, and the food does taste good. However, it’s more like a sports bar that serves Mongolian BBQ, rather than a real Mongolian BBQ place.

Let me start this review by saying that the Genghis Grill in Ellisville MO was my absolute favorite restaurant for years. I visited it twice a month for years. I brought all my friends and family by multiple times. I even drove the 45 minute drive to eat there by myself. It was amazing. So when I found out that Tulsa had one I was ecstatic. My family and I came from St. Louis to Fort Sill OK for my brothers Army basic training graduation, and on the way we stopped in Tulsa for Genghis Grill. It has been about 3 years since I’ve had it, and I was drooling. We were greeted when we walked in and say right away. They were accommodating for a group of 9. Our waitress seemed uninterested to be there from the get go. We knew what we were doing so we got started right away. Proteins were fresh and stocked, as were veggies and sauces. The bowl was cooked very quick and perfectly. A manager brought us our bowls and she was friendly. I finished quickly and asked for a second bowl. WELLLL apparently they do not offer unlimited bowls for $ 12 anymore. I wasn’t told that. Instead I found out when the bill arrived that each bowl costs $ 8.99. Oooooops. Not their fault. But would of been nice to be warned when I asked for a second bowl. Also, our«unfriendly» waitress left half way through our dining and we were given a replacement waiter. Not a great feeling. Overall the food was good, the staff was so-so, and the prices were too much. How could a first timer try anything and do trial and error of every bowl costs 8.99 for lunch or 10.50 for dinner? Glad I got to eat it again, but wouldn’t visit this location again.

Genghis started out as a 5+ star dining experience, sadly it’s slipped to a 1 star(and only because a half star is not offered). What used to be a well staffed, clean, and friendly place to get a hot meal is now a poorly staffed, dirty, place with rude staff. The bowl size is about half of what it started out as and as others have stated the buffet price is gone. The selection is not kept stocked, and the meat sits there to the point of total defrost. It’s no longer worth the cost to eat so poorly and risk sickness from spoiled meats.

I’ve been to this place twice. I just don’t get it. Overpriced. Seems unsanitary. You use the serving tools everyone else uses and you reach far back behind the sneeze guard and your arm and sleeve is over the other raw meats. Then after the raw protein experience with messy dropped bits everywhere, you get to pick your vegetables and then your seasonings. The seasonings are a challenge since I DONOTHAVE A CLUEASTOWHATTHEYARE and am taking a very big risk that I am ruining my food. Which I did the second time. I ordered pot stickers which were served warm and as I got through them realized the chicken looked like it was uncooked and a little translucent. On top of that it is overpriced. I just don’t get it. I don’t know how to cook with those spices and that is what you are expected to do and then on top of that it just seems kind of unsanitary and unappetizing to see an array of raw meat.

I really love this place. Its basically a build your own meal. You go in, the hostess grabs you a seat and the server comes over to explain how it works. They give you a bowl and a small container for your sauce. They have kids size as well. Tuesday nights kids eat free with purchase of adult meal. The servers are hit and miss. I’ve noticed some get flustered easy and dont check on their tables enough. But the meal is great. You take your bowls and pick your protein, pick your seasoning, pick your vegetables, you get to taste test the sauces, and then you get to pick your starch. My kids love the fact that they get to pick what they eat. From here it is put on a large grill and cooked to perfection. This is really a great place to eat, I go here very often.

When we walked in we asked to sit outside due to having a service dog. We said No! We were seated inside. We I got my bowl, it was dirty! The lady was not happy when I said something. It took a long time us to get waited on. Not sure we will go back. Not handicap accessible at all making it hard for my hard for my husband and for our dog.

I don’t even know what to say about this place, except I wouldn’t go back. I have never had a pot sticker, but snot wrapped chicken would have been a better name. The instructions about building you bowl made it seem very complicated. It comes down to what kind of meat and veggies do you want. The sauces is where you have the opportunity to ruin your food, which we did. I don’t understand piling everything on top of each other, you always stir fry meat first and put it to the side. Depending on the vegetable and size it chopped, it cooks at different rates. You can’t dump it in a pile and cook it till the meat is done because the veggies will be overdone and limp by the time the meat is done. Both of ours tasted burned and over cooked. It was very loud, echoing and frenetic atmosphere, which I loath. The employees very nice, I felt sorry for them having to work there. They have a bar and if you decide to go, a couple of drinks and you might have a 3 star experience.

Genghis Grill is a franchise chain of Mongolian barbecue restaurants with locations throughout the southern U.S. They have 4 locations in Oklahoma including one in the Cherry Street District of Tulsa. Generally I avoid chain restaurants, especially in towns that offer a wealth of unique local cuisine. We were meeting up with friends who were planning to have dinner and since we had just eaten we planned to only have drinks. Usually fast-food oriental restaurants do not have a full bar so I was surprised to find one here. The friends eat here often and like it. The concept is basic … there are 3 types of «bowl» that the customer can build: the Build Your Own Bowl, the Build a Genghis Bowl and several Signature Bowls that are already pre-built. Each comes at a fixed price. I have been to single-location Mongolian stir-fry restaurants with a similar concept in which the customer chooses one or more finely slivered meats, adds their choice of vegetables and douses it with one or more sauces then hands it to the cook who spreads it on a hot grill in front of you and then scoops the whole thing back into the bowl a couple of minutes later. One cook would prepare lunch for 50 – 75 customers and still have them back to work before their lunch-hour ended. Genghis Grill loses much of that magic because once the customer hands the bowl off they seat themselves and the cooked meal is brought to them at the table. Despite being there on a weekday night and the fact that the restaurant was only about 1⁄3 full it took an inordinately long time for the meal to be brought to the table. And that’s with several cooks working at the same time on your bowl. That also takes away the enjoyment of being able to dig in while the food is still sizzling off the grill, by the time it is brought to the table it looked a little limp. Not surprisingly the food line is overdone with«instructions» on how to build a bowl and has a lot of a McDonald’s look to it. For some strange reason Genghis Grill absolutely forbids putting the sauce on in the traditional way before the food is cooked. That idea turned me off. Our drinks were large and reasonably priced with a lot of «themed» names and the overall décor is a little more casual than similar places like Pei Wei. On the quality of food they rate a 3, however the slowness of preparation and the price per bowl slides their rating down to a 2. What saves Genghis Grill from a sub-average 3 though was the server, Maximillian. Though young(maybe 18) his people skills and anticipation of customers’ needs are absolutely first rate. Our friends had their young daughter with them and Maximillian was very tuned in to the special needs of a child. He was nearby just when we needed him but was never overbearing. As a customer it is satisfying to pull a restaurant up an entire point based solely on the service provided by one individual.

Heads up, this place is no longer unlimited! My server mislead us by telling us to trying many different things as we could and to make sure you ‘load it up’. No where did the waiter say that it was ONETIMEONLY. When inquiring about this change in policy, the server was not very polite handling the situation. Though it was my first time back in a very long time, it was suddenly MYFAULT that I didn’t know that the policy changed. He made it a point that I understood this! In the long run, I guess the jokes on me. i know in their bottom line it doesn’t really matter but I will never give this place my business again!

This is a standard Genghis Grill. I didn’t really have any complaints nor compliments, except the parking is kind of a pain in the behind. I feel like they had more ingredient options, but I may be imagining that.

This might sound a bit harsh but I call it like I see it. Today was my first time at this restaurant and the first thing I see are dirty dishes. Like caked on junk on my bowl. The server was nice and got me a new one so hey, no big deal. I hit the food line to load up my plate(it’s the type of place you grab some food and the place cooks it up for you) This was a bit of a turn off. You shuffle through a buffet style line and grab raw meats to have cooked up for you. I mean raw chicken is hanging next to raw pork. Salmonella poisoning anyone? It not my cup of tea but again I can let it slide a bit. When it comes down to the meal it was ok, but just ok. Ultimately the food was nothing special and reminiscent of something from the freezer isle at the grocery store. The flavors didn’t do much and the food was kinda bland. Over all it’s just a so so place.

Have been here half a dozen times or more. The best part in my opinion about this format is that if you don’t like your food… it’s probably your own fault. You can concoct basically anything. It is a salad bar-esque setup with meats, veggies, addons, sauces etc. You pick what you want to make and they cook it up for you. It is wonderful. The service is hit and miss sometimes but then again all you really need is a drink, and a refill from time to time.

I truly love the idea of Genghis Grill and appreciate the healthy approach. I have been a handful of times and love getting coupons in the mail! It’s like a Subway of Rice Bowls only you DIY. At first this concept kind of worried me as a free for all germ-fest since you are not required to wear gloves but, it is always kept relatively clean. The staff is consistently kind and helpful for newcomers. Once seated, there is a waitstaff through which you order drinks and any appetizers or desserts. Seating is abundant with booth-space and tables. Televisions generally are kept on sports channels. There is a full bar so I may make put this on my list of places to watch Thunder games! In general, I’m not head-over-heals in love with the food. The produce never looks exceptionally fresh before it’s cooked and I can taste a difference. When I pay full price without a coupon, I never feel like the amount of $ was worth the bowl of food.

Sort of a fast food place but not really. I enjoy Chinese type food. This Mongolian grill has a good selection of ingredients and sauces. We were able to create a nice, tasty lunch that was freshly prepared with the items we chose. Like the guy in front of me in line said«If you don’t like it, it’s your own fault». We had an excellent waiter and all the staff was friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my lunch very much.

Genghis Grill is a fun place to eat and have dinner with a group of friends. I’ll let you in on my secret on how to get the most food for your money: I fill my bowl ¾ full with the different types of meat that I like. My favorites are pork, sausage, scallops and sliced beef. All the seasonings are great, but I really like the citrus garlic herb and cajun seasoning. With any room left, I pack on the vegetables and push it down with my hand(make sure you’ve already washed your hands!). For sauces, I like the 3G, but you can taste them before you choose. The last part is the best. You can pick two starches, so if you get any type of rice(brown rice is my favorite) with udon noodles, it makes your order huge! I can never finish my meal and always take the rest home for lunch the next day. Enjoy!

It’s a cool place, the only thing I have problems with is knowing what tastes good with what. But they have little cards that they know are good combos. If you know how to really pack the food down you definitely can have a large meal, and the steak is quite tasty!

Very VERY delicious! It’s fun as well. They have about 10 different meats you can choose and if you want you can have some of all meats, choose all the veggies you want and al the noodles, rice or tortillas your Herr desires. For $ 9.99 you get more than enough food. You can pick any pre made sauce or mix and match. It’s truely fun and always turns out amazing. A new Tulsa favorite for sure!
