I love J. Crew’s style, and have spent way more money than I want to admit shopping online. I’m also a cardmember, so I love the special sales that sometimes gives. When I moved to Tulsa, I was happy to see that there was a brick and mortar store nearby(helpful to see items in person and return online purchases). Unfortunately, pretty much every trip to this store has been terrible. The sales associates could not be less interested in helping you. I feel like I always walk in there wearing 75% of J. Crew clothes – clearly a frequent customer – and I barely even get a greeting. Yesterday when I walked in, I was the only customer in the shop. The 2 men working at the register didn’t even look at me. Then I saw one associate coming out of the fitting room who appeared to be helping someone and he did offer to help if I needed anything. I think the problem here is that J. Crew employees no longer work off of commission. A bummer since it makes them totally unmotivated to sell the clothes. I have never seen this store busy, and I am afraid at this rate we might lose it.

12÷07÷14 Update I couldn’t bring myself to take the shirt back. I like it too much. However, will DEFINITELY never shop at this location again. 12÷06÷14 Pros: this is going to sound crazy, but I love the J Crew catalogue. I want to crawl inside and live in it. Most of my purchases come from online or their Houston stores. Cons: this is my first time buying something from their Tulsa location and it was terrible. No one greeted me when I entered the store. I was looking for a particular item, and just had to locate it myself. I needed a fitting room, signaled to the girl at the register and two guys standing around chatting to each other. They all just looked at me and kept socializing. I ended up trying on my items in the hallway of the fitting area. In retaliation, left the clothes on the ground. Considered not buying the shirt, but I really really wanted it. The old man ringing me up barely spoke to me and kept up a conversation with another customer instead. I discussed it with my roommate because I could not figure out why I deserved to be treated that way. Sure I was wearing scrubs with tennis shoes, but doesn’t that imply I have a job and am capable of affording J Crew goods? I was carrying a designer hand bag and looked clean/groomed. What did I do wrong. Anyways, we discussed it and I’m taking back the shirt. They don’t deserve my business and no shirt was worth what I put up with. Jerks.
