New China

This was the WORST experience I’ve ever had with a restaurant. I’m staying in Tupelo for a night with my family and we decided to order Chinese. New China was recommended to us. I called the restaurant and a lady answered. I greeted her, told her I’d like to place an order and already she’s interrupting me asking me, «What do you want?» Ok fine so I started reciting my order and she’s asking me questions like what size and before I can fully answer she’s just left the phone while I’m mid sentence. I waited for her to come back and I tried again. She asked me what size and then I must have taken too long because she asks again loudly and harshly. She asked me combo or large and I say combo and then she asks me the same question over and over. At that point I’m just confused. So now she’s reciting the order back to me and she’s going very quickly and I’m a little hard of hearing as it is so I asked her to repeat herself. Now she’s angry and actually yelling at me over the phone asking if this is what I want or not. Wow. Ok. So I finish the order and we wait. Eventually, the delivery guy comes to our hotel room. We get the order, delivery guy runs off, we open the bag and half our order is missing. I call the restaurant back and the same lady answers. I explain the problem and she asks me, «You got two bags didn’t you?» I say yeah but not all the order is there. This exchange goes on for a bit and then she just starts practically screaming at me over the phone. She said that I messed up and that I should have known when she repeated it back to me even though she was so awful at actually repeating the order for me. I tell her I paid 52 dollars (!!!) and didn’t even get all my food and she repeats that it’s not her problem. She has the gall to end this exchange with «Have a nice night!» What an awful experience.
*Edit: Morning after and my brother and boyfriend want me to add «Do not eat this food!» Apparently my mother loved it though. «It cleaned me right out!» To each their own I guess haha

Good, hot, American-​style Chinese food. Nothing fancy. I once had a mix up with the delivery, but no big deal. Usually, though, I get takeout, and they cook it when you order it. The food is consistently good and always hot.

I really can’t say enough good about New China. We always get delivery and the food is good, plentiful, hot, and the order is always correct. True, this is your typical Americanized Chinese food, but it’s still really tasty. The coconut shrimp is excellent, and by far the best thing of theirs I have tried. Lovely creamy sauce with a sweet tang over breaded shrimp. The crab rangoon is also a favorite. The house fried rice is suitably packed with meat and veggies. The one complaint I have is that the hot and sour soup isn’t quite hot enough pepperwise, but nothing that can’t be fixed with a dash or two of white pepper or a shot of sriracha. If Chinese food can be considered a «comfort food» this is it.
I’m also incredibly glad they deliver to my neighborhood. The pizza place next door thought they were too good to deliver to my neighborhood, so now New China happily gets all my money and I get better food!

We really enjoy their delivery service of good quality Chinese food.
