Yummy enough. Big soft pretzel rolls, nice strong coffee. But our eggs were cooked in the microwave and the bacon was soggy though.

This bakery is filled with novelties, specifically German food, pastries, and sweets. Edelweiss has a great variety of options, and I’ll keep coming back because there’s not really another place like this in Tuscaloosa. I had the chocolate croissant, pretzel roll, apple strudel, and white chocolate raspberry scone. Out of all these items, the scone was my favorite and I don’t even like scones. I felt that most of the pastries tasted averagely or just didn’t appeal to me. I would still come back to try other things, but their selection looks like so much fun. Their chai latte is decent. I can’t speak for the other drinks. Be ready to order quick. The service feels like they’re rushing you, and if you can’t make up your mind, they’ll literally stand and watch you intensively until you’ve made up your mind.

We stopped in for breakfast on a Monday morning with our four kids. Everyone tried something different and we all loved everything! I had the Han and cheese croussant, it was massive and wonderful. The outdoor seating is perfect on a nice day, the staff was friendly and helpful. A delightful place close to the river walk, give it a try!

We were in town for a visit and this place was right around the corner from the hotel. The coffee was as good as any modern coffee shop would have, but the pastries were outstanding. I wish there were a café near me this good.

Really liked this place. Warm vibe and friendly. Good food and coffee. wi-fi cut out a few times, so not the greatest wi-fi experience. But the service, food and coffe were great. Id go back.

Even though you only get one free refill of coffee and even though they forgot about our sandwich order, it still gets 5 stars. Yes, it’s that good!

Haven’t had that food yet, but really want to try it next time! The breads and pastries look delicious in the case. Perfect place to grab a latte– they have an array of sugar free syrups, which goes a long way with me! Nice little patio out front to sit and sip, and very sweet workers.

I love this place! The pastries are so fresh, and the espresso is amazing! I was a barista, and I got spoiled on good coffee, and nowhere in town is better than home except Edelweiss!

I absolutely adore this authentic little café! It’s truly a hidden gem. Great coffee and pastries. What I love most about Edelweiss is the«laid back» ambiance. I love coming here to grab coffee with friends.

The food quality of Edelweiss is superb. When my company was at the business incubator on UA’s campus, I used to frequent Edelweiss(and Temerson Square for that matter) much more often… kinda miss it. I don’t always eat sweet things, but when I do, it’s at Edelweiss. I did order a dry capp recently that wasn’t great… turns out that the foamed milk needs to be poured in for homogeneity rather than scooped and placed on top of the espresso.

Enjoyed fresh wonderful baked goods and coffee this am with my family. The relaxed atmosphere is great for a Saturday morning to sit and enjoy people and things around you or to have a cup of coffee and read. The staff is very friendly and helpful. New favorite spot

Food was great– coffee was really terrible. We came in 20 min before closing, and they definitely did not show that southern hospitality. We had quiche and a muffin and they were both tasty. I would have like to return and try their pastries but the lack of friendliness and the fluorescent lighting kind of makes it uninviting. Sorry if we kept you and you had to uncover the quiche to serve.

Great pastries and a wonderful low-key breakfast and lunch place. Menu is limited but they will make things off the menu if you ask and they’re not busy. Great atmosphere. Good German food selection at lunch.

The best place to get a light breakfast any day of the week. Their danishes are solid.

How have I lived here so long and just found this place! I loved it! The chai tea latte was great and so were their scones! It’s the best place to casually meet up with a friend in the morning and I will be going back soon!

Wonderful coffee shop and patisserie in downtown Tuscaloosa. I ended up taking several pastries back with me to share with friends and family. The coffee is dark and strong; I would have preferred something a bit lighter but there was really only one option available for brewed coffee. They do have a full range of espresso drinks available. The pastry case is full of many central-european style pastries with marzipan, almonds and the like as well as more traditional muffins and more American style confections. They do bulk orders if you want to be the Office Hero for the day.

I just started school at UofA. I was looking for a place to grab Sunday morning brunch or breakfast. I saw this local little spot on Unilocal and decided to drop in. It was a nice, simple coffee shop. I liked and will go back. However, I don’t see why it is 4 – 5 stars. Maybe if you put it in the context of Tuscaloosa, meaning there is not a better option, it would be more stars. I asked if they had a dark roast, and the response is all of our coffees are a dark roast. It definitely was not a dark roast maybe medium, but not a bold, dark coffee. They recommend for breakfast that I have a ham and cheese croissant. It was good, but how can you have a bad ham/cheese croissant… they are going to be good anywhere. I ordered their german soup, but they were out, so I had their tomato which tasted like campbells. There is nothing unique about the inside, but they do have nice front patio seating. With all that being said, don’t hate on me if you see me in there. It was not a bad experience. It was a solid 3 stars. I am curious if there are any coffee houses that are better in town.

Best place for a coffee experience in Tuscaloosa and has some world-class pastries. In the morning, it seems like the whole Tuscaloosa police department is there – usually a good indicator of quality and affordability. Every pastry I had was superior. Fluffy, light, not too oily, and remarkably tasty. It seemed like everything was a good option. If I come back, I’d very much like to sample their German lunch and food menu. The coffee and espresso options are all good(and come in very generous portions) and probably the best in the area, but not quite as good as it gets. Pleasant interior with free wifi and a nice variety of seating options. Service was noticeably friendly and helpful. Open quite early too.
