Love it but it does suck when they mess up on the orders but everyone makes mistakes other then that it’s good

Food was excellent and prices were, too. We are there before and were pleased it’s just as good now. Guacamole, chili relleno, spinach enchilada, enchiladas Suisse were all good. We’ll be back!

Best Mexican food in 29 Palms, hands down. Fast friendly service, even when busy. Fresh chips and salsa. Chile Verde burrito wet is delicious! Chicken Tostada is scrumptious! I won’t go anywhere else for Mexican food when in 29. I’ve tried the local competitors and found them mediocre at best.

First time here and will be back, my family believes it’s better than Edchada’s nearby. The service as good for our party of seven which included a four year old. They serve hamburgers and chicken nuggets for the picky little ones. Soft drinks are served from a can. Everyones dish was huge and well enjoyed. It’s a hole in the wall type place and the prices are more than fair.

Quick and easy stomach bloating mexican cuisine. Nothing like getting stuffed on sub-par, poor quailty food. Bland and fattie fajitas is what I got.

The food was pretty good. I had the chicken chimichanga and my partner had the chili Verde burrito. Portions are large, meat is tender, but it could have definitely had a bit more flavor and spice. We did love the salsa. It was very fresh and I could have just eaten a big bowl of it for my dinner. The owners are nice people, but the restaurant itself could sure use an update and a good deep cleaning.

Went here last night and was very happy with the server and food. The food was delicious and the portions we’re huge. I had the beef fajitas that I couldn’t even finish and my husband had the chicken salad. He said that’s the first time he’s had more meat then salad. He was very happy. We will differently be going back.

Let’s face it, it’s 29 Palms so your expectations should be low, but that said, Las Palmas serves fresh food at a good price and they are clean. Been there a few times and always enjoy my meal! Good carne asada, chicken enchiladas were tasty and grilled chicken was awesome! Recommended as a good solid meal in 29!

Ok. 1 server and 1 cook. Rice a little mushy. Chicken was good.(Inside tostado and enchiladas.) when then check came, we were surprised at how much it was. Clean mostly although old. Mediocre Mexican food is about right.

Clean place, decent ambience. I went in not expecting much and so I was not too disappointed by the mediocre food. First off, the salsa served with the chips was like water. I suspect that it was premade, frozen and then thawed out. It had no flavor and was mostly clear liquid. Very strange. I ordered the combination plate of chicken enchiladas with rice and beans. Small portions, no small salad, not even sour cream on top. Lack luster and almost room temperature. Maybe the skimping is due to lack of revenue– we didn’t see any other customers and from the reviews it doesn’t seem very good for business. I’m sorry I can’t say more than that the wine margarita was okay. If you like authentic Mexican food don’t go here. I’m wimpy about hot food and I even thought it was bland.

My husband, Dave, and I are snowbirds from Wisconsin and were camping in Joshua Tree National Park on February 14. We decided to head to Twenty-nine Palms, CA to hike some trails. After working up an appetite, we decided to try and find a Mexican restaurant. We chose Las Palmas, right on the main drag, and found a parking spot very close to the door. We were greeted immediately, though, by a very friendly fellow who told us to take any table we wanted and brought us menus quickly. He also brought a basket of warm chips and salsa. I am no expert on Mexican cuisine but the menu looked like it had everything anyone would want. Plenty of individual entrees, combo plates, and choices of beef, chicken, and seafood. A lot to choose from and they all sounded good. There was a white board with some specials but most of them were with shrimp and I didn’t feel like eating shrimp. Dave decided on Steak Fajatas and I chose a Chicken Chimichanga. We both ordered sweet ice tea. Our drinks came right away and then I looked the place over. The atmosphere is very casual with plenty of tables and also a separate dining area in the back. I think on Sundays they serve a buffet and I suspect the place is much busier. Our food arrived and we dug in. Dave’s Fajatas were sizzling up a storm. A large platter of steak, peppers, and onions. His meal also came with rice, beans, and the regular side of lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and warm tortillas. My plate included a huge Chimichanga, beans, rice, and the salad stuff. We did share our meals with each other. My meal was great. The Chimichanga was deep fried(that’s how I like it) and filled with shredded chicken. It was sitting in a wonderful sauce that I loved too. Beans and rice were good; nothing out of this world. Dave had no choice but to share his Fajatas after I gave him a hunk of my Chimichanga. The steak was tender and delicious, the peppers and onions crisp and the seasoning was just right. Dave enjoyed his meal especially the Fajatas. The same friendly fellow that greeted us was our wait staff person too. He did a good job. Our bill was $ 29.26 which seemed very fair for the amount of food we got.

Mexican food place in the middle of the desert. Came here on our way back from Arizona and while the outside scared me, I was impressed upon walking in. The outside looked like a little hole in the wall but the inside looked like a pretty nice, semi expensive restaurant. Coming from San Diego and being Mexican, I had higher expectations. I didn’t like the food and was supremely bummed. I ordered tacos, rolled tacos and they were hard and cold. :-(

After passing this restaurant on a daily basis for nearly a year, I decided to give it a shot with my spouse. We were the only people there. I ordered a combo«house special» Chile Relleno and a chicken taco. Spouse ordered the Carne Asada burrito. The free chips were tasty but the salsa was yellow(wtf?) and looked like it was mixed with applesauce. It had virtually no flavor. My Dr. Pepper tasted like a mix of that and Pepsi. So the food arrives and I bite into my chicken taco, only to realize that I was given shredded beef. Not only that but the beef was extremely low quality«mystery meat.» The beans and rice were mediocre. The Chile Relleno was fried on the outside and soggy, with a strange taste. I ate very little of my meal. My spouse’s meal was also mediocre. We left as soon as we could. I will not return.

Quick(sort of) rundown on this place. The service is pretty good but this may be in part that the place doesn’t get busy. Sometimes we’re the only ones in the place but there are never more than two other tables seated. The chips are decent. Not from a bag as far as I can tell. The salsa is pretty darn good and they have a hotter version if you ask for it and even a good salsa verde also upon request. The menu is pretty typical Mexican restaurant. All your favorites are there plus a couple not so mainstream items. My co-worker regularly orders the Campechana and LOVES it. I’ll take his word for it because fish is not really my bag. I’ve tried the Chile Verde(pork, green sauce) burrito and the Chile Colorado(beef, red sauce) burrito and both are good but I’m more of a Verde kind of guy. The refries are great and aren’t canned which is more than I can say for a lot of Mexican food places but the rice leaves a little to be desired. A little dry and bland for my liking. Next visit I’m going for the Steak Tampequena The food is good and by far the best Mexican in 29 Stumps. There are three other places here to get Mexican but none are a choice. Two have a Drive-Thru and the other just isn’t good.(food OR service) and Las Palmas is less expensive than all of them! Must try: Chile Verde burrito Must Miss: Chile Relleno(three of us don’t like it on 3 different trips)

The food was ok, but a little greasy, especially the fish. My enchiladas suizas were alright. Service was low key; it felt like a small, informal place. The good thing was that they had decent salsa.(Two nights before, we ate at Edchadas, where the salsa was like water with food coloring.) The price ended up feeling a bit higher than I thought it was going to be, but I was weary, so my math may have been mistaken.

Hmmmm… Deeply insulted, as a Mexican who was raised on beans and rice, how dare you. This place has no competition really, the food here is way to American! Yeah if you give this place higher then 2 stars and your Mexican. Check yourself, a true Mexican would never let something like the food they served here fly. I’m sorry this place made miss home. Mother would never give me a soggy tostada or a flapping in the wind taco. Shit, Mi suegra, as much as she hates me would give me a heartier portion than what they gave me. Shit she would’ve put more spit in to if she could. The food was edible, but if you never had true Mexican food this place is a LIE! The orchata was ok though. The chip where cooked fresh and the salsa had the hotness equivalent to taco bell hot sauce. Yeah It was bad when I saw the bill, this was the price they charge a white man, not us Mexicanos. It was not worth it. I know it’s worth the money when I feel as if I was eating at my house with family. This place is more like a step up from Del Taco. Compañeros, I’d rather buy my own ingrediants to make my own meal. Than to have to come back here. It’s not worth the extra peso.

Food was bad, service was TERRIBLE, and they charged for another basket of chips. REALLY? Not only will we never go back, we actively try and spread the word about how bad they are.

We went with our roommate and got seated right away. After our waiter finally showed up it took almost 10 minutes to order beer. BEER. After that she seemed to snub us. She acted as if she didn’t know english, like she couldn’t understand us and we were stupid white people. Our food was ok, nothing to write home about. THEN…a family comes in and sits behind us. Our waiter suddenly knows perfect english. Asking about their children’s schools, sports, their work, relatives and proceeds to stay there the remainder of our meal. We had to get up and ask for our check. She didn’t seem happy to be interupted and when she brought our check went right back to talking. We couldn’t read our ticket and finally went up to the kitchen to ask if someone could read it to us and ring us up. Have gone for take-out before and since, and that was MUCH better!

Our 1st time trying this place. The food wasn’t the greatest. Then again in Twenytnine Palms they dont have a great Mexican Restuarant. The quesadilla was good. When we finally got our meal. I swore the rice tasted weird. It seem like it was spoiled. The tacos were not good. Waiter was nice n friendly. Got home n i had a bad stomach ache. Lets just say it wasnt pretty. Dont recommend this place unless u want to throw up or get really sick

Finally, a decent Mexican meal to be had in the Hi-Desert! After foraging around the Edchadas menu in town for a decent meal, I was introduced to the little gem that is Las Palmas. Located directly next door to ROCKY’s pizzaria, and across the street from 7 – 11 in town, you won’t find it difficult to spot while traveling on Highway 62. With the ample parking outside the building and easy access to the restaurant, you’d better get there quick — as seating is very limited. As per my previous reviews — I started off with an extra large side of guacamole. While a bit pricey, it was TOTALLY worth it. The obviously fresh avocados were mixed with a delightful array of veggies and spices. EUREKA! My first meal here: Three chicken flautas topped with sour cream and guacamole with rice and beans. Upon first bite, you can really tell that they take pride in their food here. The approximately 8 inch long flautas had a crispy-yet-flaky outer shell, filled with a juicy mouth-watering chicken that was finally shredded and mixed with a jumble of cheeses. SUPERB! My lunch-date enjoyed an enormous chicken quesadilla that was also topped with sour cream and guacamole. As she devoured the entire meal, I can only imagine it was perfection! The only reason I did not rate this 5 stars was due to an average-at-best service from the waitresses. ***HERES A CURIOSITY*** Never, ever, ever, ever have I seen pitchers of Corona. After noticing this on the menu, a few of my buddies and I ordered a few pitchers. They tasted just like Corona, but to my knowledge — Corona has never been offered in pitchers. Can anyone testify for-or-against this? Needless to say — whether they are cracking bottles in the back and pouring them into pitchers, the food was outstanding, and the beer was cheap as well. Definitely recommended for an overall good time — and legitimate Mexican food. :)
