Big box companies don’t provide the customer care that Racquet & Jog does. This store has it all, and I always find it hard to leave without purchasing something. They are always up to date on the trends and fashion. I couldn’t believe their selection on running shoes! Being an avid runner, this is the only place in Tyler that I shop at for running shoes and gear.

Great clothes a bit expensive. Service can be excellent one day and horrible the next. Not the best return policy on sale items.

Look — this place has awesome clothes, shoes and accessories as well as a decent selection of sporting goods. You definitely won’t see any huge bargains on an average day but everything is top notch. The second I picked up a shoe 2 girls shot out from behind clothing racks and simultaneously asked if I needed a size to try on. Customer service has always been above par especially if you initiate a question or concern. I thought I would stop shopping here when I moved to AZ and I’m still coming back. Best selection in Tyler and the signature T-shirt design is spreading to other local businesses. Ever since this store opened in ’78 they have been booming and increasing selection. It’s an absolute must if you are shopping in Tyler, Tx.

I’ve been an avid marathon runner for years and have always gone to Dallas to get fitted for new shoes. I heard that Racquet and Jog had hired a new guy that does fittings so I gave him a try. Graham was very patient and knowledgeable about all the current shoes and trends and took a lot of time to analyze my feet and gait and get me in the correct shoe. And to my shock, they were very reasonably priced. He asked me about how often and where I ran and any physical issues I have or have had. I have had a lingering planter fasciitis issue and he suggested a sleeve to help with that. He also knew all about gps running watches and hooked me up with a sweet Garmin. He suggested some excellent socks(Feetures!). I felt like he really wanted to get me in the proper equipment. I will definitely go back. There is no need to travel to Dallas anymore. Btw, the planters sleeve really helped!

I was recomended to this store by a friend and it was great. The manager helped me find the right running shoes and spent over 45 minutes with me. He really knows is shoes. I found a lot of other things! Thanks for the help! Also they hired a shoe manager that is going to start running classes and I thought I would give him a plug. This was a much need!

One star because I couldn’t give less. My daughter and I stood in the middle of shoe dept. as three different employees watched me try and figure out how to size my daughters foot. All in all about 15 min of standing with a shoe she selected. Not one of them asked to go grab the proper size for that matter not one even said hello. I feel this places owners must have read a book on big box retail management because that’s exactly how I felt. Two girls at the front folding and greeting then you make your way through a space with cluttered racks every where. Pass a counter with four people standing not one single customer checking out. Then arrive in the before mentioned shoe section. After the initial greeting NO one spoke to us again. My visit was on January 6, 2015 at about 4:30. Good luck I hope this helps I will Never be back in this store I can order off the internet if I want to self serve myself.

I don’t know why this place is looked at so negatively on here. Once, I bought a damaged shirt, but I bought it on sale for a really low price, for which I was happy. I’ve had good experiences there. I guess the salespeople are not exceptionally friendly, but I’ve never had a problem.

I wish I had the power to close this place. It’s weird to me to see how you are treated and walked over by staff members but yet people still shop here. I’m a suckers for customer service but not an ounce would you get here. The workers walk by you look at you in your face and either frown or look past you at their friends and joke with them. Definitely won’t spend my hard earned money in this place.

Make sure whatever you purchase is in PERFECT shape that you can live with before you leave the store otherwise you maybe stuck with it. Customer service is horrible and it really starts with management. If you need help prepare to stand in line at the front counter otherwise you will not find anyone to take the time to even acknowledge you. I purchased 5 of the famous logo t-shirts at $ 20 each of which one was damaged. Before returning to Seattle I went back to the store and asked to exchange the one shirt for the exact same size same shirt. The manager gave me a horrible time and went out of her way to embarrass me. She acted like she was doing me a huge favor in just exchanging the shirt. Even with other customers behind me she made sure to tell me that anything I purchased would be a «final sale» and that there was NO way damaged merchandise makes it to the floor. At this point I’m almost embarrassed to wear the shirts knowing they treat customers like trash. You can’t treat your customers so poorly and expect them to return. No customers means no paycheck something all the teenagers who work there don’t seem to grasp.

I am a runner, and R&J is about the only game in town as far as shoes are concerned. Selection is pretty good… there are a few common makes/models that they don’t carry for some reason, but overall very decent, particularly in minimalist models. For such a «trendy» store, I’d expect bloated pricing on the running shoes, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised… prices are usually on par with other running stores/websites, and often even a shade lower. Another reviewer mentioned feeling«invisible…» I can see that, if you’re used to being hovered over, but I’ve always been at least acknowledged when I go in. My main beef with the customer service, and the reason I took off a star or two, is that it’s pretty hit-or-miss whether you get a sales rep that knows anything at all about running and/or running shoes. There are a few people I’ve gotten that are runners themselves and know their stuff, but I often get a high school kid who might have friends on the track team. That said, with one exception, they’ve always been happy to help, getting this or that shoe in such-and-such size from the back. Like I say, I’m a runner, so that’s the perspective this review is written from, and with that in mind, there are a few other things on my wish list that would probably have no bearing on customers with other interests: 1. It would be nice if there were a treadmill or at least a decent expanse of floor that I could use to get a feel for how the shoe moves. I can trot around a little, but not with the stride I would use on a run. This wouldn’t be as much of an issue if wish #2 below were fulfilled… 2. Many, if not most, true running stores have a return policy involving the option to return them if you run a few miles and they aren’t working out. I’d like to see R&J implement a similar policy. You can return them within 90 days, but only if there is no visible wear. 3. Could use more running apparel, and from a wider variety of manufacturers. As I said at the beginning, they are pretty much the only game in town as far as running gear, and they’ve got a good start in this department… but there are a lot of runners in the Tyler area; I think R&J have a good opportunity to beef up their stock and sales expertise and become a real premium resource for the running community, not just in Tyler, but in all of East Texas(there are no good stores that I know of in Longview or Marshall, either). Hope this helps!

The most popular item in the store is the trade mark t-shirt. A little too trendy for me. They used to carry a lot of tennis stuff but now it’s mostly North Face, t-shirts and shoes. Most of the teenagers that work here aren’t much help.
