We really like this shop! My son(age 13) is just getting into model rockets and the people there are very helpful. They walked him through his options and he couldn’t have been happier. We just launched it last weekend and it was a blast.

With so few hobby shops left, it is good to know the folks at Tyngsboro are there. If you are into N scale model railroading, they have a LOT to choose from. They also have HO, of course, but usually no one stocks N scale items. HUGE selection of cars and locomotives. Also buildings and vehicles. There is one isle of model car kits, and it is usually well stocked. The paint and supply section is also usually well stocked. Prices are a bit high, but when you think about it, this is a brick-and-mortar building and you are not paying shipping. So it is up to you if you want to pay their prices. The staff has been there a while and can be very helpful.

The Hobby Emporium has a nice selection of model trains, plastic models, and supplies for other traditional hands on sort of hobbies. If you visit, be wary of their return policy. I tried to return a gift I had purchased a few years ago, and they refused, in spite of the fact that it was unopened. They would only give store credit. This fact is not well-advertised on their signage. I left the gift on the counter in front of the manager, and I had to dispute the charge with Visa to get my money back. It seems like a well-stocked store. Too bad their customer service is a little lacking.

The most unfriendly place I’ve ever been to. I took my son in there for items he needed for a school project. The second we walked in, someone who worked there followed us all around the store as though we were criminals about to take something. Then, when he asked my 14-year-old son what he was doing for a science project, he picked apart his ideas and made him feel like a moron. I walked out and would never go back. I went there for supplies, not bad advice.
