Chikittibag

After spending years crushing my MAnhattan Portage bag I needed a new bag.
Given my recent obsession with buying things from local producers, and my need for something durable I tried out Chikittibag.
I ordered the convertible messenger bag in brown.
Service was great, the bag shipped out that day and came promptly.
The bag arrived and it looked great. A firm durable feeling canvas, and no buttons, plastic clips, or zippers to ever fail on me.
The design is very useful. It fits perfectly into the carrier on the front of a Citibike. The canvas so far has proven to be ultra durable (I received my bag in early Feb I think). It has fallen out of the city bike on 8^th ave (I forgot to strap it in), I have dropped it in the snow, and it has been soaked by rain. God knows how many places I have just thrown it on the floor. The canvas still looks brand new. When it has gotten soaking wet on the outside it has never seeped into the inside.
I particularly like the convertible feature. It opens up into a very large tote when not used as a messenger. This has allowed me to carry it around as a compact messenger bag during the day, then fill it with groceries or whatever else and carry it home as a tote.
The canvas cleans up nicely with just a little water if you get anything on it.
So far I have used the bag for school, work, farmers market, groceries, and anything else that would fit in it. I even crammed about 8 bottles of wine in there without an issue.
All that and the bag still shows no signs of wear and tear.
Great product, locally handmade, with a simple and extremely useful design.
I will buy more.

I have purchased the flaneur, large tote and the Shared Bike Bag from Chikittibags. They bags were delivered promptly.
The bags are an excellent value. The bags are made from heavy canvas that can take abuse. I use them daily for groceries, clothes, documents and computers/​tablets.
I have carried it in the rain and water repels from the bags.
As more design and colors come out, I will purchase additional bags for family and friends.
