The short: I haven’t adapted to Mexican desserts yet :( I ended up ordering the: — Chicharron preparado: pig skin/rind? is not my thing. I actually threw away half of it because I couldn’t adapt to the taste of it. I did like the crispy corn bottom, reminiscent of a Bugle, and the cheese were very tasty. The carrots and avocado and spices that were also added made for a very odd tasting blend. — mangonada: not so great. I think it’s because the mangoes weren’t ripe and they aren’t in season in January(silly me =.=). The water-based slush was very delicious and I would go back just for that. I wasn’t used to the red peppery spice on top and the tamarind straw was weird at first. Later, I ended up liking the bottom part that was soggy and the chewy part that didn’t have contact with the slush. Mmmm, no wonder mangonadas are their top seller. The lady I talked to must be the owner. She hand makes the sorbet herself and will separate out the dairy-based and the water-based tubs of slush/ice cream. Also, Sweetmex is in the works of an expansion of the store even though it opened ~5 months ago. And the guy making the food was very helpful in explaining everything because I had no idea what the items are. I’m willing to experiment to give it another go and will be back in the summer when fresh fruits are in season. Sidenote: at the time of writing, this place can seat 10.

Got their mangonada and loved it! for 5 $ it is in a large cup. The place is very clean and the employees were very nice. If you go at night it’s a little difficult to locate because they do not have a sign that is lit up. If you go in the day time, there’s a banner.

My husband and I are obsessed with this place. They have the freshest fruit and their ice cream is to die for. I usually get the raspado de fresa and the tostilocos. I am very picky when it comes to the pickled pork skin but I can honestly say they are fresh there. I recommend coming to this place to get all these sweets and treats. I have been to other places that sell similar things but nothing compared to here. They deserve 5 Stars! Delicious Fresh Clean

Wow! This is my first time experiencing the mangonada. The tamarind stick/straw that comes with the mangonada is bomb. A must try dessert place around union city, the place is family owned and has a nice little area to sit and enjoy your order.

I usually go to a place in south Fremont but it closed down. This place is closer to my house anyway. I get either elotes(in a cup) or a mangonada. Sometimes both. Really nice, friendly staff.

Super nice staff friendly and clean. Will be coming back on a regular basis. Got a large fruita picada with extra tajin & lime. The fruit was very sweet and fresh sliced nice and uniformly. Will have to come back to try their elote and mangonada.

FINALLY! I have been searching for a good mangonada in Fremont for years. This is the best one I have found in this area. The best part is that they are only 1 mile away. The place is very clean and the employees are very nice. Parking can be a challenge since it is located in a tiny strip mall that currently has some construction going on. I can only imagine that once more people find out about this place there could be lines out the door. I can’t wait to try everything else. Their sorbet case looked amazing!

Mangonada all the way! If you’ve never tried the red sauce/topping, ask for a sAmple. It’s salty and has some kick. I enjoyed it, but it’s not for everybody! Great owners and service! Laid back casual atmosphere. Great prices. Accepts credit cards and cash. I was told the mango ice cream has dairy in it, but I couldn’t taste it. Tasted more like sorbet, which I prefer!

This is my holy grail. I live for Mexican desserts & this neveria has everything a little girl can dream of. The owner is the sweetest woman. She makes her own ice creams and has the most unique flavors. I wanted everything in the case but since I just came from dinner I opted for a scoop of the pitaya(dragonfruit) and vanilla. Sounds simple but Mexican ice cream has a different taste and consistency so even their vanilla is amazing. My boyfriend tried their fresa de leche raspa nieve(strawberry milk ice cream on top of strawberry shaved ice) and that was huge! We will be back SOON

Tried out SweetMex Neveria Mexicana in Union City. It’s in the strip mall on the same side as Taco Bell on Alvarado Niles Rd. They have a small parking lot, but I was walking over from UC Bart. I got the Mangonada $ 5.75, with tax it was $ 5.83 I think. I paid Cash, but they take credit cards. It was 2 scoops of ice cream — I picked mango & pineapple, and he added tamarindo, and the tamarindo straw, lots of crunchy mangoes. I liked it ok. He let me try lots of flavors — next time I’ll just stick with the ice cream. Prices are $ 2-$ 5 depending on the size you want. Lots of other Mexican desserts! Ask them questions, they are very friendly! Hrs: 10am-10pm until it gets colder then they might close at 9pm.

This is by far the best ice_cream. «Nieve» I have had since I left mexico in 2001. The texture. The fresh fruit taste. My kids love it my wife loves it. We drive all the way from hayward just to come eat ice-cream. Even tho in hayward I live closer to 4 other ice-cream spots. Im happy that the comunity can finally enjoy the rich flavors of latin ice-cream. Chicharros. Tostilocos. Bionicos. Aguas frescas. Pinalocas. Ect… thanks

Me and the wife just discovered this place and went back 3 times in a week. I’ve never had neverias before but I’m hooked now because of this place and how refreshing their flavors are. I’ve had the mangonadas and dude I’m blown away, mango ice cream, chopped mangos, this sweet and sour sauce they put on top with like a seasoned salt called tajin is the perfect treat on a hot day. You can get mixed fruit and different ice creams if you want. They also have a lot of shaved ice, different flavors of ice cream and sorbet, and Elote! Drooling just thinking about it.

Sweetmex in same building as «pure water», last commercial building on the right in the reconstructing commercial strip just past decoto. not much seating. mexican desserts $ 1 or so higher than in the bay area. eats: $ 3 cup: –small scoop of café, limon, mango flavors natural tasting, no artificial flavorings. yummy! –genuine mexican ice creams and sorbets. drips: –so different ice cream taste than loard’s, 31 flavors, cold stone, all sugared up.

This is a cool little mom and pop shop. It’s kind of in the cuts, but their mangonada is pretty good. They also have free candy by the cash register!

Mangonadas and elote so close to home! The heat this weekend was brutal, but unfortunately so were the lines at Sharetea, TapEx and Sno-Crave — all my neighborhood standbys. It’s times like this where I question whether it’s worth Unilocaling about the cool food spots that we discover wherever we go because usually a month or so after I post, the lines will either be too ridiculous to wait in or I end up seeing it on my friends’ Instagram feeds. YOU’REWELCOME, by the way. Anyway, this place recently opened up and while they’re still getting into their groove, what they have to offer is great. It’s pretty much a storefront for the Mexican snacks and treats you’d typically see around Fruitvale. They even have bags of chips where they split the bag open and douse in hot sauce, lime and chili. Elote is good here(you can request in a cup as well as on the cob), but the Mangonadas are a work of art. Check them out and take a break from the heat if you’re in the area!

Unique selection of nieves de agua(think sorbet) that you won’t find in your average ice cream place. If you want real Mexican ice cream, this place is for you! If you’re lactose intolerant or allergic to milk, this place is for you! If you like service with a smile, this place is for you!

Love that this mom and pop Mexican dessert store opened near my house. Friendly service and delicious sweets!!! They have all the typical desserts and snacks, Sandia locos, raspadas, tostilocos and elote(which they can put in a cup for no extra charge)
