My wife and i have enjoyed Marucas pizza for years. Their location change has been great for us as they’re now even closer to home. We never eat in but I’m tempted by their Saturday steak special. The pizza has changed slightly over the years and its not what most people expect but its our comfort food pizza. Love the doughy crust and slightly sweet sauce. Its a unique pie. Not at all like a traditional NY pizza or even the large pizza franchises. Best thing to happen with the move is the expanded menu which includes THEBESTWINGSINUNIONTOWN! STATION40! Flavorful, spicy sweet, crispy, and saucey. Love these wings so much I get them once a week. Highly recommended.

Don’t get the pizza; grocery store frozen is better. Sandwiches and wings are good. Service so so.

OK, just got home from my first visit to Mom Maruca’s in Uniontown(not Mama Roca’s — which is what I thought my daughter said when she asked me to meet her there. Just a tip for you GPS users). Little hole-in-the-wall local bar that advertises itself as a pizza joint. All in all not half bad. Just a small dining area toward the back of the bar that got fairly crowded quickly with people looking for a place to eat after a dance recital at the Uniontown H-S(side bar — congrats to Amelia, my granddaughter, on the best cartwheel in her group!). Pizza looked average but I didn’t get to try it(maybe next time). The star of the show(aside from Amelia) was the«Garrow», a sausage & banana pepper bowl very similar to stuffed banana peppers without all the work! They use sliced hot sausage stick and smaller peppers layered in marinara sauce & cheese. Very good! The wings were also pretty good — decent size, cooked well but not overcooked. If you want to try something other than the classic hot wing sauce they have what they call«Schedule 40». It’s a sweet, slightly tangy sauce — sorta tasted like it had sweet pickle juice in it. Not bad.

Regrettably I have no choice but to give Mom Maruca’s a single star review. My decision is heavily weighted on the fact that I do not approve of misleading advertisement by any business. One ‘Mom Maruca’s’ claims to serve up «hand rolled» pizzas via their website. Unfortunately these formerly frozen pizzas are no better than you standard Elio’s frozen pizza and certainly a notch below the household name offerings of Digiorno or Red Barron. Had they embraced their true identity(local bar with frozen pizzas and the like) rather than masqueraded as a family«Pizza Shop» I may have been convinced to rate them for what they were and come up with a two possibly three star posting. Alas this is not the case. That said, I will say the redeeming quality of Mom Maruca’s was there above average hot wings. Had the staff not forgotten to include my bleu cheese(specially requested) in my takeout order of hot wings I think I may have found it in me to click a second star, unfortunately for them I value customer service. Avoid.
