Another delicious meal at friendly farms. The rolls have improved and so has the cottage cheese. The room has been updated. Great place for families and kid friendly. We will be back

Friendly Farm rocks! This place is almost a hybrid between a cafeteria and sit-down place. You order and pay when you enter, and the price includes everything. You then wait to be seated in a massive room of tables. Entrée choices are basically fried chicken or crab cakes, or some combo thereof. No choices on sides, etc. Almost immediately our friendly waitress arrived with salads and breads(don’t miss the sweet fried dough) and took soft drink orders. About 30 minutes later food arrived, along with loads of sides. The chicken was so crispy and juicy with the most flavorful breading but the crab cake stole the show. I have eaten my share of crab cakes and this was probably the best I’ve ever had: giant lumps of crab with no discernible breading. Absolute heaven. Of course I also had to try the soft shell crab special and it too was plump and fried to perfection. Dessert is ice cream or sherbet and even though I was stuffed I made some room. I can’t wait to visit my friend who lives in the area again so I can go back. The funniest thing is she felt bad about not having fancy dining in her area for us since we go more exotic when she visits me in New York, and I would kill to have something like Friendly Farm near me. Except I would weigh 300 pounds and have to wear a muumuu.

Oh friendly farms… I love you. This level of love for a restaurant may be unusual, but when I walk in and receive one of your home cooked meals I am transported to another dimension and instantly placed in a wonderful food coma. As I pull in to a gorgeous countryside farm I feel some welcomed. When I walk in your front doors, I feel almost like family. My favorite part is when I’m seated and greeted with delicious sides like sweet rolls, cottage cheese, beats and many more. The service is fast and efficient. The waitresses and waiters are always so friendly and inviting. You make me feel like I’m apart of your family. My main dish comes and I sink my teeth in taste the home cooking bite after bite. Buffet style, but I can take home food so it’s even better. You have amazing one made deserts and I’ve had them a few times, but I’m usually too full so I enjoy the scoop of ice cream that’s included with the meal. Well worth the money and well worth a ride. I’m not worthy friendly farms, I’m not worthy.

This place is about crab cake and french fries. Sometime fried oysters and scallops. People who complain about other canned veg and side dishes are not getting to the point. I wouldn’t recommend fried chicken either. BESTCRABCAKE around here period Good price too. You pay first for fixed price with all you can eat side dishes so don’t go there if not hungry.

I went here for a company dinner. Very quaint atmosphere that served home style cooking with produce from the farm. A very family oriented restaurant. They don’t even serve any alcohol. I had the crabcake which was good. It wasn’t the best I’ve had but it wasn’t bad. The set up is kind of strange. Something I’m not used to I guess when I go into a restaurant. I’m thinking since this was a holiday company dinner this place was gonna be fancy. It’s very homey, almost like how you go into a retirement home cafeteria where everybody is sitting close together. When you walk in you order your main entrée that’s posted on top as if you’re almost ordering from a fast food place. Of course with more sophisticated items such as crabcake, steak, etc. I should’ve tried their fried chicken because I heard that was their speciality. Overall, this place was okay. Would’ve been nice to go during the day so we could’ve seen the farm itself.

The main dishes are what make this place. Best crab cakes around. Fried chicken is awesome. Love the sugar rolls and apple butter. The sides are a little disappointing except for the fries.

I have always had a soft spot for Friendly Farms! In the warmer months you can take some of your rolls and go feed the geese and ducks after your meal, they have baked goods for sale, and they have a great store that you can buy little knick-nacks in! We had such great service provided by Debbie Marie! She is truly a star. Our drinks were not empty once and she was so attentive! You pay first, which is a Friendly Farm tradition. I always get the fried shrimp and my family usually gets their crabcakes. For sides, you get a wonderful variety! Some of my favorites are the cole-slaw; the sweet rolls; the corn! Yum! And they’re bottomless. For dessert they offer a wide variety of ice creams and sorbets. I always go with the moose tracks and you can never go wrong with that!

A nice homey country-style meal that is hard to find these days. The food didn’t blow me away. It is done is the typical family-style with typical cuisine selections. Think fried chicken, crab cakes, green beans, pickled beets, etc… These things are done well. But, they are quite expensive and not certainly not gourmet quality. I would come here for the nice comfy experience and beautiful bucolic views of the countryside.

Basic cafeteria atmosphere and lines on weekends. But very generous portions and served home-style. Crab cake was huge and tasty. You eat the sides they give to you, but they’re once everyone would enjoy: fries, corn, beets, sugar rolls. Ice cream desserts. Will visit again. Highly recommend.

Very family friendly place which is always a plus. Good sized portions and a lot of variety on the sides. I had the fish(I forget the type) but it was very fresh and well seasoned. Pricing is fair for the amount of food you get. And best of all dessert comes with dinner and the singer bread is the best thing you’ll ever have. Highly recommended this place.

I would like to add to the many favorable reviews for this restaurant offering very good all-inclusive meals with value in a great rural farm-type setting. There are many types of establishments to choose from and if your basis is price then I would recommend Golden Corral or Denny’s. If you think this is expensive, your best bet is to stick to the«value» chains where all the food is pre-seasoned to the max.

The dinner special was 2 pieces of fried chicken and a crab cake. Amazing. Add fresh tomatoes, sugar corn and fritters, I would drive 100 miles for this meal.

Can’t figure out why people like this place. Are they serious? The average price starts around $ 20 and the food quality is mediocre at best. What depresses me most about this place is that the dining area reminds me of a nursing home … And it smells like one too! There was a foul smell of urine that we noticed as soon as we sat down at our table! The appetizers and side dishes came straight from the can! The entrees had very little taste… not even loads of salt and pepper could help! If you are a Marylander that likes over-priced bland food in an institutional setting, this place is for you. Otherwise, go elsewhere!

This is a family favorite when our large family is getting together to celebrate! Very family friendly, service is always amazing, and food is continuously great! The duck pond is always a favorite to walk down to when we are all finished and let the kids run around outside.

Friendly Farms was good but as many said, not really worth the cost. A bunch in my party had the fried chicken, which can was awesome! I had the ham which was really quite forgettable. Definitely not recommended. I was also disappointed that a restaurant with Farms in the name uses canned veggies for their sides/apps. I wonder how much of this food comes from the farm and how much is just canned and just Cracker Barrel with more ambience. The scene was pretty awesome although less once inside. The drive out to Friendly Farms was incredible. The restaurant sits on a hill in the middle of farm country. Spectacular. Inside feels more like a rec room in a community center. With the options we have for family style food around Baltimore I won’t be back until someone pulls be back. It’s a cute place to try once if you want something different. In the end, fried chicken dinners for 6 shouldn’t cost $ 120 + tip.

Love the food here but it is a little pricey in my opinion. That is the only reason I did not give five stars. I would rather have a few less sides and pay a little less.

We had a great family dinner here tonight! Crab cake was good. My husband had the fried chicken and also liked it. Loved the ice cream that is included with your meal at the end. Our Waitress Cass was super sweet. Our two year old who is a typical 2 year old picky eater, ate his whole dinner with out complaints. We will definitely go back. Bathrooms are also very clean!

If you enjoy eating in a high school cafeteria this is your place. The food is expensive for the quality you are getting. Just about everything is fried and the vegetables, which only include corn niblets, green beans, and French fries, are straight out of the can. Stay as far away from the steak as humanly possible, it was frozen for no less than a year and will only make you angry as you try to pass a piece of shoe leather off as a meal. I would of had a better time at McDonalds because the service is equal. You pay and tip for your dinner prior to eating or even sitting down at the table. Then you wait for them to call you name in a hospital type waiting room with no tv or appetizers and when they do call you to the table your appetizers include cottage cheese, canned peaches in heavy syrup, apple butter, and deep fried bread rolled in sugar. Don’t say I didn’t warn you…

So many of my memories are housed in the walls and grounds of Friendly Farms. I have been coming here since 1969(when I was 2) and would eat here every day if I could. From special occasions like birthdays, or just time to get together with family and friends. I would always recommend Friendly Farms. First word of warning, on Mother’s Day, Easter and other special days, come early, or expect a wait. And if you have family in town for the Christmas holidays, know that they close for two weeks to allow the staff to have time with their families. That being said, family is important to Friendly Farms. My Grandmother and Great Aunt brought us here and introduced us to the warm and wonderful staff, the ducks on the ponds that you can feed, and, oh, did I mention the food? COMEHUNGRY since everything but the entrée are served family style. Once you place your order, your table is seated overlooking the farm and the ponds. The first thing you will receive are the heavenly sugar rolls(and regular rolls, which I save for the ducks). Don’t neglect them when they are warm from the oven. Try to save one in the basket for each of your fellow diners — you can get more :) While I see there are other items on the menu, I have NEVER ordered anything but the crab cakes. As I often say when I see diners eating fried chicken or ham, I have to remark(they sell chicken? ;) As a Baltimore born girl and lifelong Marylander, I take my love of crab cakes VERY seriously. I have tried others, but nothing(not even in Baltimore, or down de ocean Hun) can even COMECLOSE. These jumbo lump crab cakes are HUGE(but get two — one to savor later) are BROILED. No fried junk full of filler. These are the real deal. You will thank me later. You also gets family style sides — two veggies, home cut fries, cole slaw, cottage cheese and apple butter(try them together — trust me). Endless drinks, and ice cream for dessert. The other great part of the experience is the warm, welcoming staff. Some of the Wilhelm family, who own Friendly Farms, are still here from my childhood. You will be treated like family members who come by for a meal and fellowship. NOTE: one thing you will NOT find at Friendly Farms is alcohol — they do not sell it. If you«need» a drink with dinner, keep driving. But I could forgo anything for the sweet rolls and the double Crab Cake meal… If only it wasn’t 2 hours from my home in Charles county, Maryland…

This is a one of a kind family restaurant service great lunch and dinners. Tasty food prepared fresh and lots of that homemade flavor that is hard to find in restaurants. Excellent service, food served quickly and hot. Best Jumbo lump crab cakes I ever had and they do not have the fillers other restaurants use. They actually use real jumbo lump crab in their homemade cakes and are broiled. The other meat dishes are outstanding also and our family all agree that the food, ambience and service is hard to beat. Beautiful setting in the country overlooking ponds .They also do a vegan dish which one family member enjoyed. Try this place out and you will come back. Gregg
