WORSTCUSTOMERSERVICEEVER. The lady behind the counter was such a grouch!!! I wanted to write a review to warn people but it looks like my friends and I were not the only ones victimized. She is the Regina George of Cupcake Shops. STAYAWAY. I mean, what else is to be expected from a store named after a shi* eating viral video. I would watch out for the chocolate cupcakes…

My husband and I have stopped here twice now when we were in Utica to do some hiking and we both think the cupcakes are really good. This time we got the peanut butter cup, ice cream sundae, cookies and cream, and chocolate chip cookie dough. They all taste fantastic. We will definitely be back. Also, the woman who served us was very friendly.

We should’ve read reviews before stopping in; this business is terrible. How is it possible to be so grumpy when you work at a cupcake shop? The woman scowled at us the moment we stepped in. It was so strange, and we probably should’ve taken the hint and left. I had one bite of my cupcake before throwing it away. It was bland and heavy, and the frosting tasted like pure shortening. I’ve had better from the grocery store.

Cupcakes are pretty looking. I didn’t like the key lime at all, the cake was bland and tasted like flour, no lime at all the frosting did not taste like lime at all it had a minty taste to it. The topping on top tasted stale. Not worth $ 3 Same for the Drumstick, the cake was very dense and tasted of flour, the toppings were really good on it though. We got a 6 pack, have not tried the others, hoping they aren’t like the first 2, but we are willing to give this place another try, they didn’t have as many choices as they usually do.

The cupcakes are not my taste. We bought a six pack and all of their cupcakes are«filled». But that has largely translated to most being«filled» with more frosting and therefore getting very little cake. If I wanted to eat plain frosting, I’d buy a tub and eat it with a spoon. On top of that, the owners were just uppity. Why name your bakery«two girls and a cupcake» and then threaten to kick out anyone who references«two girls and one cup»?

I had the peanut butter cup cupcake and tried the chocolate cheesecake — both were gloriously moist and the frosting was like a perfectly sweetened(not excessively sweetened) cloud. Amazing cupcakes after a day of hiking, but the hours aren’t always clear — it was 10am-5pm when we were there.

I tried to go here for three days in a row and every time I went they were closed. Very disappointed that I couldn’t try a new place for cupcakes. Also very unprofessional to have set business hours and not follow them. That’s a great way to lose customers.

So we were visiting Starved Rock for the weekend and it was a GREAT experience. As we were leaving, we saw the sign outside the store and decided to stop. As we walked in, I was a kid at the candy store. There were so many choices to chose from and they all looked delicious. We bought 6 cupcakes and all of them were AMAZING! They were so flavorful, moist and simply delicious definitely worth the price that you pay for. I can’t wait for my next visit back to Starved Rock, instead of 6 cupcakes I may get 12. Hopefully they will make it back home. They are just that good!

Stopped off after leaving Starved Rock. These cupcakes are amazing. So moist and delicious. I was so surprised how good these were. I have been to various cupcakes places and usually am disappointed because a lot of places make beautiful looking cupcakes but often they end up being dry and not worth the 3+ dollars you end up spending on them. I was not disappointed with Two Girls and a cupcake. I was mad at myself for not buying a lot more when I was there. I live in Downers Grove IL so this place a little out of the way :(I purchased the Cheesecake, Oreo, Peanut buttercup and I think it was a cookie dough cupcakes(I should have wrote this review sooner… I may have forgot the exact names of the cupcakes flavors we had) Everyone at my house can’t stop talking about how good they were. My step son who doesn’t like anything is still talking about them 3 weeks later and asking if we can go get more. Next time I am out that way I wont be so stupid as to only buy 4.

Im resubmitting my review from a year in a half ago… way to rise to the challenge. Some of cupcakes are better than before. The cheesecake series is actually really good. I usually hate chocolate cupcakes but the chocolate cheesecake cupcake was so flavorful. The cherry cheesecake cupcake however won my heart. The combination is so creative… it tasted like a cookie. But with that said, the other cupcakes are still plain with ovedone frosting. Its a work in progress

Stopped by this place today after leaving starved rock State Park on the way back to Chicago. We were so disappointed that, due to mechanical issues, the store was closed. However one of the owners was outside right as we pulled up. She explained situation to us and offered to go in and get us a half a dozen cupcakes on the house. We offered money several times but she would not take any. When we got home we all tried the cupcakes and everybody loved them. I think this action speaks volumes about the bakery and The people that run it and we’re definitely excited to come back next time we’re in town.

The pumpkin pecan may be the best cupcake I’ve ever had, moist and spiced. And they aren’t coated with inches of icing. And the icing doesn’t taste like sweet lard. I’m glad we stopped by.

We stopped in here on our way out of Starved Rock. It was a good cupcake, but I wasn’t dying to go back the next. If you’re looking for a five star gourmet bakery straight out of Paris, you’ll be disappointed. But if you’re in the mood for a sweet treat this place does the trick. The cake portion of the cupcake wasn’t anything new and different, I personally thought the yellow/white cake was better than the chocolate. They have lots of varieties; we tried double chocolate, lemon, chocolate chip cookie dough and pumpkin. At $ 3 a piece, it was a worthwhile stop!

Second visit to this place… I love this cute little cupcake store!!! The first time I remember walking out with two cupcakes, this time I settled for one. I’ve never had a caramel cupcake that actually had a layer of caramel between the cake and frosting… it was fantastic! At $ 3 a cupcake, you cannot go wrong. It’s just hard to decide what to actually buy to eat without buying one of each :) The woman who helped us yesterday was super friendly… she even suggested we check out the Illinois River Wine bar down the road during our trip to Utica after we told her we were visiting for wine & cupcakes! You will see the signage for this place off I-80, it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re visiting Utica or Starved Rock. Good quality cupcakes here!!!

Like a few reviewers, I saw the posted sign off the highway(under«food» with the exit number) and chuckled about the reference. I was tempted to exit then, but figured it wasn’t worth a detour for a cupcake. Well, I DID end up passing Two Girls on my way home from Starved Rock, so stopped in. It was 5:15p on a Wednesday and they had a TON of cupcakes in the case. I wasn’t sure what to think of that — did they expect a rush by 6 or do they keep product out overnight? Anyhoo, I was warmly greeted by a guy washing dishes. He didn’t really know about allergen info of the cupcakes I was interested in, so he asked a female associate standing a few feet away. Despite the fact he seemed busy(and the other girl didn’t), he helped me with my order, too. I ordered: Salted Caramel Pretzel Key Lime Tirimisu Cookie Dough =$ 12 pre-tax Verdict: Average sized cupcakes with some interesting flavors, most of which came from the frosting. Cookie Dough — Holy frosting! Extremely sweet — both cake and frosting. Frosting was very brown sugary/buttery and really overpowered the cake. It was a tad bit much for me. Tirimisu — Not too sweet, and tirimisu flavor was subtle. The cake part was very moist, almost wet like actual tirimisu. There was also a dollop of crème inside the cupcake. It was different, but just OK. I actually ate this one a whole 3 days after purchasing it, so was surprised it was so moist still. the frosting, too. Cool. The guy who helped me(the girl rang me through) also gave a chipper parting(she seemed less than thrilled). I may be back when I’m in the area to try something else.

I have to start with this disclaimer, especially after reading the reviews for this place: who in their right mind would make sure a gross comment and reference to the name of this establishment? Seriously. Like, that disgusting video and the name should not be mentioned to the owner, workers, whomever. Yes, go ahead and have a nice little chuckle to yourself, but to be so ridiculous and mention it to the owner, who would obviously be upset by that… yeah no. Regardless, this place is amazing. The cupcakes are delicious. My boyfriend and I tried 3 kinds. My favorite was the smores. The cupcakes were fresh and unique. They were decently priced, yes maybe a few dollars more than I would normally spend, but its a quick stop before you get to Starved Rock. I reccomend stopping here, unless you’re planning to be tasteless, then please don’t stop here.
