I used to go to yoga at State of Grace Wellness studio and enjoyed many of the workshops. Alas, like another Unilocaler, I am not a fan of Suzie’s pushyness. I stopped going after a few classes of her not listening when I declined to get into some of the inverted postures. I especially didn’t appreciate being pressured into inverted poses while on my period since, as I’m sure Suzie’s aware, is considered something to avoid in yoga for health reasons. That should be enough reason for Suzie to back off from a clearly stated disinclination.

Nancy is an incredible business owner as well as a class instructor — I just wished she taught more classes!

State of Grace is an amazing place to practice yoga, to find balance and to connect to yourself. From the first time I walked through the doors I felt home. Nancy is a remarkable person, and incredible business owner and a moving and motivational instructor. Those who are lucky enough to know get to know her and experience the sanctuary of this space will agree wholeheartedly that it is rare to find such acceptance and love even amidst the yoga community. I have received a deeply cleansing and relaxing energy balancing session with Nancy and as a Reiki practitioner myself, I can assure you the gift Nancy has is second to nothing I’ve ever encountered. She is truly connected has helped me grow in so many ways. Every teacher and every experience I’ve had at State of Grace will remain with me through all I do. You cannot go wrong. All my love, Jessi

I am a yoga teacher(not at this studio) and practitioner of ten years so I have quite a bit of comparison when reviewing studios. I really like the vibe here and enjoy how very clean everything is. I hate walking barefoot anywhere but my own house but here, I feel comfortable doing so if I have to use the bathroom in the middle of class for instance. I have taken three different classes here and experienced instruction from three instructors: Susie, Jessica, and Neil. Susie is clearly knowledgable and sometimes amusing but overall does have a somewhat militant style to her teaching. That is ok to me, as I am more of a straightforward Bostonian but some may find it off-putting. Neil is pretty dry and almost seems as though he either has no personality at all or hasn’t figured out how to put his personality into his teaching. Both his classes were almost identical as well, and I like to not know what to expect when I attend a class. Jessica often seems nervous being the center of attention, but I like her best of all. She does try to get around to everyone in class at least a couple of times to give cues or help out. She has a vibe about her that allows you to feel comfortable about where you are at physically that day. I do wish there were some more challenging classes so I could find a reason to attend more. Otherwise, there is very little here I can’t get from doing daily classes on YogaGlo. The one-on-one feedback is great, but I’ve been doing yoga long enough to be past the point of needing constant feedback on alignment and such. I took a star off because I am iffy about the prices being what they are($ 17 for only 75 minutes) and two out of the three instructors I had classes with did not give me a reason to want to go back. I did try each instructor(Susie and Neil) twice and continued going to Jessica’s class(a little over a month) until I lost my job and could no longer afford yoga outside my home.

My update is in regards to the only gentle yoga class that they offer. Still give the overall studio 4/5, but this is just for the gentle yoga class. The teacher there, Susie, is extremely knowledgeable and I trust her insight and all of that. HOWEVER, her class is not a gentle yoga class. I’ve been to that class on various occasions and on some nights, I worked way harder than I wanted to. The pacing was way too fast for me and her cues came off as borderline militant. Nothing about it felt gentle or calming or relax. I left for the most part feeling just ok. Nothing overly spectacular. I almost felt like she was rushing to get as many postures in as possible. And for someone who’s a 500RYT(I think E-RYT, but I can’t remember or bother to check), she does a lot more standing up at the front of the class room doing the poses than actively walking around and giving assists. I’m not saying she’s a bad teacher. Again, she knows what she’s talking about, but I’m not a fan of how the class was formatted or how she instructed it. She felt like she belonged in a power yoga class and not a gentle one. I mean, geez, if that’s her version of gentle, I don’t want to see what’s regular ol’ yoga. For me, I need a much slower practice, which requires me to either a) be picky as hell with finding the right teacher, usually an E-RYT 500 teacher who knows what they’re doing or b) just take a gentle class. So if you’re like me and are looking for those requirements or are simply looking for a relaxing gentle yoga class, this may not be for you. Still give it a try, who knows. We all like different things. I’m just no longer a fan.

I know I am a little biased, because as of right now, I work there! I teach the Monday evening classes– level 2– 6pm– like a challenging flow/vinyassa infused style; and Level 1 at 7:30pm– a more gentle approach to yoga, a lot of de-stressing towards the end of class but the middle will challenge you and increase flexibility. I have worked at a lot of yoga studios, gyms, etc– and I have to say I LOVE the vibe here. First of all, the studio is GORGEOUS– meticulously gleaming hardwood floors, floor to ceiling windows all around and spacious. — and that’s just the yoga studio. Nancy the owner is wonderful. She really hand picks the best teachers and staff. I love it because unlike some cold pretentious yoga studios, this is is a VERYWARM, inviting atmosphere. I’d highly reccomend coming to take class or get a massage, or energy work here. Very Holistic approach both to mind and body health.

I take Yoga classes here and have been pleasantly surprised by some classes. I would like to see some more challenging classes. Susie is one of the instructors and she is great. Prices are very reasonable.
