Harry and David

It’s my first time at the store & I’m happy. There were a lot of yummy samples inside & they have this friends & family sale. i bought a couple of chocolate covered fruits, can’t put them down, i want to finish the whole pack in one sitting!

If wondered what the big deal about this place was. So when my boyfriend and I were in town and spotted we figured we’d go in and check it out. There were lots of free samples throughout the store. The lady working there was super friendly. She pointed out the free coffee samples I almost missed. And I’m glad she did. I ended up buying them, they were so yummy. She even gave us samples of their famous pears (a full pear for each of us as a sample!). Some of the stuff was over priced, otherwise I would have bought more. But great gifts and friendly staff at this location.

I was the recipient of a bunch of awful fruit CONTAINING WORM HOLES AND MASSIVE BRUISING from Harry & David over the winter holidays. As I was cleaning up my photos tonight I saw some photos I took of the offending fruit, which reminded me of my sincere promise to review the products on Unilocal,complete with photographic evidence, since Harry and David do not allow evidence-​based critical reviews on their website.
Wait, wait, hold on a minute, «worms» you say? YEP YOU HEARD ME CORRECTLY.
WORMS HAD SAMPLED SOME OF THE FRUIT I RECEIVED.
They were not in the box, so I imagine the worms had tried a little sample of Harry & David’s merch back in the orchard. The worms were like, «Uh hell no we are out of here.» Then the fruit was picked, and sent over to H & D. And did H & D notice the great big nasty worm holes? Nope. Or hell, who knows maybe they did. EITHER WAY I HAVE HERE PROOF THAT H & D JUST POLISHED THAT SHIZ RIGHT UP AND SENT IT OUT TO ME FOR CHRISTMAS ON MY SISTER’S DIME.
So did I tell my sister? Of course not. I pretended it was a great present and I threw it out. Later, I left feedback on H & D’s website under each of the product names –a box of their finest pears, and the larger of their two Organic gift baskets. I patiently uploaded my customer photos. But H & D erased all the comments, and my time and effort to leave honest feedback was wasted.
A few days later, their e-​services rep wrote me an email asking how they could help. They were apologetic about the fruit. But I was more upset about their refusal to post my review. I was over the fruit, and I didn’t want any more fruit from them ever again. I wanted their website to accurately reflect the feedback they are getting so that more people wouldn’t send their sisters wormy apples by accident.
The e-​rep wanted to know if I was sure wouldn’t like more fruit. A thousand nos. In fact, I asked, could I be blacklisted from ever receiving any future H & D orders? Because this year I have gotten SO MUCH fruit from H & D and while one order of THREE boxes of pears was fine, it was still three goddamn boxes of pears. What the hell does a person do with three boxes of damn pears?! At least those boxes were not nasty. I was able to regift *them*.
The e-​rep wanted to know if I would like my sister’s credit card refunded. UM NO!!! No!!! While I want my sister not to have been robbed, I think it would be even worse if she knew the whole story. She’d definitely be embarrassed. She’s not the type to ever complain. That’s how nice she is. If she received this same box of horrible fruit, she’d probably just eat it worms and all and send me a big thumbs up for thinking of her. So in her mind, if it’s bad enough to actually request her money back, it probably was like the worst present ever. I was not going to do that to my sister. It’s not her fault.
H & D protects their reputation at all cost. I mean, imagine what their packing room looks like if their workers get away with polishing up and packing bruised, overripe, wormy apples. There’s like 3 stoned guys who all hate H & D. They are probably playing skee-​ball with the apples. Now imagine the rooms where the reviews are screened. There are probably several skyscraper stories all dedicated to just that activity. Row after row of frosty air conditioned cubical populated with people staring at screens with eyes peeled awaiting any new reviews that show the truth about how bad their products actually are.
I explained to the e-​rep that ALL I WANTED was for my review to be posted, so that people could read my experience, and be warned what they might be sending to their loved ones. H & D wouldn’t allow that, the e-​rep explained. Here is an actual quote from the rep, rather passive-​aggressively explaining why my description with damning photos of worm holes and bruises was inappropriate for their website:
«We do filter our reviews if they do not speak directly about the product itself. In the case of your review, it seemed that your concern was largely regarding quality control, which is not specific to the item you received. Please accept our apology if this was not made clear when you wrote your review.»
Got that? They are sorry that I didn’t know their policy when I wrote my review. Because that is the problem.
Furthermore they have a policy of talking about the product ONLY. You mention quality control and you’re DONE, MAN. Because what H & D is selling is FRUIT ONLY. Not quality. It is irrelevant to mention it could be controlled better. Instant disqualification, there, dude.
JUST TAKE THE DAMN FRUIT. OR TELL YOUR SISTER SHE SENT YOU SOMETHING YOU HATED. THOSE ARE YOUR ONLY TWO OPTIONS. SORRY IF THAT WAS NOT CLEAR TO YOU WHEN YOU AGREED TO RECEIVE THIS GIFT.

Tried contacting H & D, but all the contacts were unacceptable. H & D put Napa, CA in the United Kingdom. H & D is very poor and i will not visit them again, except for maybe fruit.

This was my first time in a Harry and David’s and I REALLY like this store!!! When we first walked in, we were asked if we would like to try one of their truffles. Oooooh they are so good. The 2 ladies working that day were so nice, friendly and helpful. They have a GREAT clearance section! I ended up getting a bunch of stuff out of the clearance. They have refrigerated things as well. They had a great deal going that day… spend $ 30 get $ 10 free. We made sure we reached $ 30. We got a free tote to put all of our stuff in. It was a great shopping experience.

Why do we have to drive all the way to Vacaville for a Harry and David fix?! My aunt wanted their Royal Riviera Pears for Mother’s Day, so we drove all the way from San Jose for them. H&D always has yummy treats available. We also picked up some horseradish garlic mustard and BBQ sauces. Their cookies are really good too.
Over the weekend we made their lemon poppyseed scones, and they were just okay — a little dry and needed more flavor.

What a nice lady working there. So helpful and attentive. I was just grabbing road snacks and was in and out lickety split. There is a clearance section I recommend and the samples and coffee were tasty.

Upon entering the store, I am greeted by a friendly woman offering me samples. Need I say more?
This place offers a great selection of typical Harry & David items at reasonable prices.
Also, they have a bunch of different varieties of Moose Munch, in addition to other delicious goodies :)

Harry & David at the Vacaville Outlets is our go-​to place for grill sauces and marinades. We love the Grilled Pineapple Bourbon Sauce — exquisite flavor. Or the Raspberry. These are bottled sauces, great for chicken or beef on the grill. Pour straight from the bottle at the table, too.
And don’t leave without some Moose Munch!

I love Harry and David and I love my Grandma who sends me gift baskets of goodies from them quite often.
I scored several gift baskets (regularly priced at around $ 30 and up) for $ 5.00 a piece. Yes they were for Christmas and Valentines day (it’s March right now)… but delicious goodness none the less.
The ladies that worked there were sweet and offered free samples while browsing the store.
Moose Munch popcorn is to die for… oh and PS — this isn’t a great place if your calorie counting, but worth a visit if you want to cheat a bit.

When I die, I want to come back as at least one of the tasty treats that line the walls or sit in wait on the various middle displays.
Harry & David is the gourmand mecca, no wonder they almost always get a mention on New York-​based shows. My eyes about popped out of my head when I realized how «quality» the outlet treats are.
I appreciate how helpful the staff are even if I come up in there looking like I don’t have millions. Treating people equally is good business and they got that down to a science.
Now if I could only get the same treatment at other gourmand centers.

Ever since my Wifey tried the Sweet Hot Pepper Relish at a Company Party, she has been hounding me to go to H & D for some this Heavenly Dip. She was actually introduced to it by a colleague and that it goes well with Cream Cheese mixed in the Relish. The Harry David’s I checked out did not have them because apparently, it is only offered around the Holidays. This last weekend, we were tooling around Vacaville searching for a Birthday gift for Wifey, and we stumbled upon this Store. We went in and found this Relish at the very front of the store. The people were very Friendly and very Helpful. I even signed up for a frequency card and received Free Dark Chocolate Malt Balls. The lil’ ones scored some Gummy Fish and Swedish Fish. The 10 percent off at purchase was also a nice little bonus. Definitely will be back for more Relish and some more Chocolate goodness.

The moose popcorn snacks are really good, but so full of calories. They’re constantly inventing new flavors. Got a sample of their butterscotch, but I couldn’t tell it had butterscotch in it. Ended up buying their coconut flavor which was quite good, a mix of carmelized white popcorn and coconut flavored choc popcorn pieces for $ 7.95. Got 2 bags of their sesame sticks which were $ 6/​bag.
They offer samples of their cold tea and hot coffee — rather weak tasting.

Harry and David is a fun store to shop for snacks and desserts! I love the Raspberry Galettes Cookies. It’s so buttery and yummy! In addition, there are plenty of gift baskets and gift towers. Definitely try the famous pears! They are very juicy and have a fragrant flavor once ripen. Sometimes the store has samples of tortilla chips and dip, coffee, or a store representative will walk around with candy samples.
