Been going here for 10+ years(this location). It is the worst it has ever been. When they dropped the price down, every weekend wally from Hugo to N. St paul is in there and you spend ½ the time waiting or dodging some«trainer» with his student. And i’m NOT talking about 5−7pm here, i’m talking about 2 in the afternoon. Or 10am. Hours when said wallys are typically at their 9 – 5. Bottom line, its better to pay 20, 30 or 40 bucks a month and have 2X, 3X or 4X less people walking around like zombies from the walking dead. It is beyond ridiculous.

The only reason I belong to Gold’s and not another gym, is the proximity to my home. In the last year that I’ve been a member, I’ve seen it go downhill. I love their MWF morning spin classes, but I’ve had to arrive extremely early(like 30 minutes) to get a bike, which requires me to get up at 4:45… I wish they either had a bigger classroom, or had the classes 5 days a week in the morning. Also, last weekend, I went into the women’s locker room around 3:00, and there was a male cleaning the shower area. Odd, because there was a female working the front desk when I had arrived 30 minutes earlier, why wasn’t she cleaning it? Also, I saw that they put a small, poorly handwritten sign a few feet outside the lockerroom saying that a male would be cleaning it. Gold’s Owners: If you are going to do this, at least take the time to have a LARGE, professionally typed sign that is easy to read and eyecatching. The memberships have become so cheap, that it is now crowded, even at 9:00PM, and they aren’t keeping up with keeping the place clean with all the additional traffic. I will say that the class instructors they have are great, and at this point, they are the only thing retaining me as a member.

I’ve been a member for about 2 weeks. So far, I like this gym. They’ve got all the machines and free weights I like to use, and the ladies’ locker room is always pretty clean. Unfortunately, I am concerned with the cleanliness of the machines. When using the assisted chin/dip machine on 2 different occasions, I noticed about an inch of dust at the top of the machine. This may seem like a hidden spot to the cleaners, but not to those of us using it! I love the Zumba class with Cindy. She’s a fireball and her class is fast-moving, full of life, and fun! I would give her & her class 5 stars.
