Broadway Moving & Storage

These guys packed and shipped our stuff from Santa Clara to Maui. They arrived at the end of the arrival window and packed efficiently, except that they forgot 2 boxes. Sure would be nice to have EVERY DVD I OWN. Uppon delivery several items in the container were not inventoried and I am missing wires and cables. A box containing hanging files was damages, but the contents were intact and the glass from a picture frame was broken. Professionalism tip: of you are packing people’s things because they are moving, don’t ask if you can have things.

I moved from a house in Stockton, CA to an apartment in Pleasant Hill, CA. They were on time for the move and accomplished the move in the agreed upon time. However they broke my dresser and have not offered to repair it and have not compensated me for breaking it. It had been 2 months since I moved and I talked to Dave who came to see the dresser right after I moved. So far no word from them. I will never use them to move again

This Broadway location is an Allied Van agent. i.e., you book a long distance or international move through Allied leaving from this area and these are the guys who are actually gonna come pick up your stuff.
I was moving from the East Bay to the Washington, DC area and went with Allied through this office instead of their East Bay office (run by Nor-​Cal) because it had better customer service. That being said, I’d give them three stars. The woman I spoke with multiple times over the phone, Kelly, was super helpful… until the day before my goods arrived and then she flipped a #&$% because I wanted to pay via credit card. I don’t care if you’re having a bad day, don’t take it out on me when I’m paying over $ 2300 to move a sparsely furnished one-​bedroom apartment.
First I had an in-​person estimate done. The dude, Chris, was super nice and gave a quote that they stuck to the whole time. The quote included an elevator on the pick up end and stairs on the delivery end at no extra cost. Good to go. Two days later I had them come out and move everything (I’d already packed). Saul and his two guys moved everything into their truck to take it to the Broadway warehouse in Vallejo. They didn’t make it clear to me at the time, but all they do is *drape* stuff for that short drive. The actual wrapping/​padding of big items is done by the Allied folks before the big move. These three guys seemed semi-​inefficient with time and it was annoying that they were talking about all of my «preguntas.» First off, you’re not explaining anything so I’m gonna ask as many questions as needed to find out why you’re not wrapping my things and why it’s taking you so long. And secondly, it’s CALIFORNIA… you have to assume everyone can understand Spanish, so may not be a good idea to talk in front of the customer. Just sayin…
As for the actual guys that work for Allied, five stars. Five big stars! The team of three was lead by Josh who kept me updated with the delivery date and time, gave me just a two hour arrival window and arrived on time, did a walk through of my house to see where I wanted everything, unloaded perfectly and took away all the packing materials. They were efficient, nice and just as courteous as can be. Josh explained about the draping I’d witnessed in Cali and that it was his team who met my goods at the Broadway warehouse, wrapped everything meticulously and drove them all to the east coast. He was also the one who told me I could pay by credit card, whereas the Broadway chick had made it seem like I would have to use a cashier’s check (hence why she freaked out over the phone… welcome to the 21^st century lady, we all use credit cards). Josh’s team did a fabulous job and if I ever do a long distance move again, I’ll call him and ensure it’s his or another Allied team that does my move.
So, overall, I’m averaging the three stars for Broadway and the five stars for Allied for a four star rating. Definitely use Allied for your long distance move, and if you’re in the Bay, the Broadway office is better than your other Allied options.
