Great food! Finally a good place in VV.

In the small town of Valley View, Texas there are few businesses downtown, however there is one you may not want to miss. We just had lunch there today and it was excellent. This is a recently opened small bakery and café in the middle of downtown just opposite the square. There is a limited lunch menu that consist of 6 salads priced from $ 4 to $ 6.50 and 7 sandwiches priced form $ 4.50 to $ 6.50. We ordered the BLT and the Chicken Salad sandwich and both were excellent. Be forewarned, this is not a fast food place and it may take a few minutes to prepare your order. Look for the menu on a «white board» on the all behind the cashier counter.
There are bottled cold drinks in a drink case, plus tea in a large container next to the drink case. If you run out of tea, just go to the dispenser and help yourself. The day we were there only two employees (one an owner) were taking and preparing orders. By noontime all 24 seats were taken, and some entered and walked away and others just waited in line for take out orders. If you are in a hurry and become impatient this may not be «your cup of tea».
Days and hours are limited as they are open only Tuesday thru Friday and then only 10AM to 5PM. Not much is going on in downtown Valley View after 5PM.
The staff is friendly and will take time to chat with you even though we knew they were very busy. The interior walls remain as they did, exposed brick, many years ago. A new ceiling has been installed and we noted new wiring around the walls. We would like to have seen the old metal ceiling however we know this is expensive and this is a start up new business. Otherwise this place has retained a lot of the historical charm found in old downtown buildings. This town had two devastating fires in 1924 and it is remarkable that this building is one of the pristine buildings in downtown. Next door is a gift-​home décor store which is also worthy of a visit.
Remember I wrote this was a bakery. On the left of the cashier counter are several muffins and brownies displayed and on the right a large variety of different flavored cup cakes. They are displayed with attractive black and white cup cake holders and are delicious. The bakery will prepare special orders and there is a list on their web site.
This place gets 5 stars because there just are not many places to get food in Valley view.
