Hotel to loud. I’ve stayed here before. Found it difficult to connect my VPN to the internet. Don’t have this problem any other holiday inn express.

We were in town for my nephews graduation — I stayed in 2 different rooms: First night I shared with my mom — it was the handicap room. The shower was crazy ended up getting water everywhere but on me! Also the walls seems to be very thin you can hear everyone’s conversations. Next night I shared room with my nephew: I somehow pulled the handle off the tub while water was flowing into the tub — alas no shower/bath for me that night. Each morning breakfast is served — cereal, eggs, buscuits, sausage etc. — get out there earlier!

The back story: we stayed here overnight recently. We were originally going to stay in Chesterton, but the hotel I booked turned out to be an EPIC fail, and we left practically screaming. it was evening, and we were able to call Holiday Inn Express Hotel Valparaiso and obtain a King room for less than we were going to be billed for the house of horrors from which we had just fled. Easy-peasy. The staff at the desk was professional and pleasant — not overly so, but again, no complaints. The room was super clean and quiet, the bed comfortable with nice, clean, white sheets and a fluffy comforter. Plenty of pillows, and the bathroom practically greeted us with heavenly light and angels singing compared to what we had just been presented with at the other place. The ONLY complaint(mild) that I can come up with is that the AC unit was a bit noisy. It wasn’t annoying enough to contact management — we were only staying one night. Perhaps if we were staying longer we would have someone come look at it, but it wasn’t much of an issue. I fell asleep in spite of the occasional grinding noise, and slept for ELEVENHOURS. Breakfast the next morning was your basic free dealio, with the scrambled and hard boiled egg options, tiny but tasty muffins, toast options, bagels, yogurt, coffee, juice, fruit, and this super cool contraption that cooked 3 pancakes for you in about 5 minutes — it looked like a pancake printer.(must investigate how to get one of these things for my kitchen) I had biscuits and gravy, and… yep, it was good. Our destination was the Dunes — not quite as conveniently located as Chesterton, but totally worth the 13 mile drive to stay in a clean room. I feel that this was a good value for our money, and if/when we return to this area, we will just bypass the other places and come directly here.

This place is typical. I normally stay here when in town for business. As the others said, no frills here. The breakfast is what you would expect, not great. The rooms tend to be consistently okay. They do a terrible job working with businesses on taking care of arrangements and such. The desk staff is normally nice and pleasant.

Wishing I had stayed at the Hampton instead. Walls are so thin we could actually hear the conversation in the next room. Wall unit heating and air is noisy, but let it run to drown out the conversation next door. Price wasn’t any big break, I choose this hotel because I thought it was recently built, but it shows wear and tear.

There are a grand total of 5 hotels in Valpo. I have now stayed in all of them and this one is the best. Nothing extraordinary, but if you get the porter county airport discount it’s the best price in town. The staff is friendly and helpful, the amenities are adequate and location is central. Note: make sure you check Tripadvisor for pricing on any hotel in Valpo. Prices were almost always lower online — after taxes and fees — than at the front desks.

This is a no frills kind of place. It seems everytime I stay there is something that annoys me, yet the rates being the lowest in the area for the service tier has made me return. Among the nuissance things are housekeeping not making up my room and when I report it being told I instructed them not to. Before that it was the huge dead fly that met its demise through one of my predecessors but remained prominently featured in its squashed state on the curtain. I suppose realistically you get mostly what you pay for with most rates in town averaging $ 20 higher.
