I purchased approximately 15 exterior lights from Renoma Lighting. I am happy with the look of the lights but the functionality of the lights has been a disaster. The first problem is that only one of the two sockets on each of the lights works. When I screwed the bulb into the second socket on most of the lights, the bulb popped and the socket became non-functioning. Additionally, the coating around the wiring for the lights has deteriorated. This has left the wiring exposed with no protective coating and, on at least one occasion, I observed an electrical flash and smoke coming from one of the lights. After the electrical flash and smoke incident, I contacted Renoma Lighting and was told to bring in one of the lights for their examination. Renoma Lighting is approximately an hour from my residence but I brought in the light for their review. Instead of replacing the light with a new one, they insisted that I leave the light. Several days later, they contacted me and told me that I must have done something to make the wires deteriorate. Yes, they blamed me for the wires of their lights deteriorating. I told Renoma that all the exterior visible components of the lights were fine but that I was concerned about the safety of the lights and asked them to replace the sockets and wiring. Renoma told me that I could bring in all the lights and they would look at them but would not say whether they would replace them. I asked them if they would replace the lights if they appeared to be in the same condition as the one I had previously brought in. They refused to agree that the lights would be replaced if they were in the same condition. I explained that I did not want to pay an electrician to remove and reinstall my lights if they were not going to replace them. They still refused to agree to replace the lights. During the course of back and forth communication, dealing with the Renoma staff has been miserable. I would have thought that they’d apologize for the inconvenience and encourage me to exchange the defective electrical component of the lights. Instead, they have been hostile and most recently unresponsive. Another one of the lights stopped working recently when the wiring completely deteriorated. I’ve contacted Renoma several times and they have simply ignored my contacts. This is particularly perplexing considering the wire and socket are not the expensive components of the light and replacing it would be inexpensive and easy for them. I like the look of the lights but dealing with Renoma has been so unpleasant I won’t buy from them again.
