Art of Makeup

Stopped by to enquire on information about their classes. The woman that helped me was very informative, and helpful! The location was well kept. They have a great selection of classes to learn from.

Celena (owner of Art of Makeup) is amazing — the real deal. The pacific northwest is really lucky to have this LA superstar transplant. I recently hired her to do a very difficult special effects makeup job. She was amazing. For those of you interested in pursuing a career in this field, do not go anywhere else.

If I could go back and do Art of Makeup course over, I would again and again. I still refer to my notebooks, full of key information as I progress in my career. I graduated 2 years ago, a student of Celena’s second ever class in 2012. I am still pushing toward my goals of working full time as a makeup artist, focusing on film work. If you are considering learning more about makeup, being an entrepreneur or turning a hobby into career, please consider Art of Makeup!

Regardless of my name being in your records or not, that should not matter. The fact that you even went back to try to look amazes me, because you can’t accept the fact of my review. There’s no reason to discuss any further about my review of your school. This just really shows what kind of school your running and the person you are, by deleting your first response! Taking classes at Art of Makeup was so much fun! The teachers are all
working makeup artists and enthusiastic about sharing their skills. I
learned so much. Everyone was really nice at the school too. I can tell they
really care about their students. I’m so glad I didn’t settle for Youtube.
There’s no way I would have been this prepared to work in the real world.

I cannot say enough about Celena’s school and the care she took when giving me a tour-​the historic building is awesome. I noticed her makeup kits and it looks like she puts so much effort into building each makeup and hair kit, so people really have the right tools to make a career when they leave with their certifications. Not only am I proud to teach airbrush for such an amazing school, but I’m lucky to know Celena, because she truly is passionate about what she brings to us here in the Pacific NW and she wants to create a successful and fair playing field for all artists. I always love Celena’s happy vibe and I love being at Art of Makeup!

I love listening to her celebrity stories! I love the location in a historic building. The retro feel of the studio is really cool. It works great for all the photo shoots we did.
My makeup kit is totally pro, everything in it is hand picked by Celena to match her own kit that she uses in Hollywood and other places.

I decided to enroll in makeup school to further my education as a cosmetologist. I chose The Art of Makeup. I couldn’t be happier. It is a professional makeup school in Vancouver, Washington. The school boasts (and lives up to!) a long list of credentials. They help you prepare for a career in makeup and the artistry, technique and different options that makeup training involves. The instructors are a well respected group of professionals whose experience includes working in TV & Film (local & national), stage, special effects, bridal & fashion. Not only that, but its a great way to network and get involved with other professionals in the field.
The school’s founder, Celena Rubin, is an accomplished makeup artist who has made a successful career for herself in TV & Film, among other ventures. Not only that, but she is an amazing source of creativity, knowledge, support and humour. I have taken two intensive training classes with her (so far!) and learned A TON. I look forward to taking a third class next month!

I was looking to move from the digital world of post production into practical makeup and special FX. I discovered Art of Makeup through a friend and am extremely happy I did!
I took multiple makeup courses from Celena Rubin including beauty, film, and fashion. I also took classes on airbrush and special FX makeup from Christina Kortum. Both are excellent teachers with TONS of industry experience. I felt very fortunate to have learned from professionals with such a depth of knowledge.
Classes are not cheap, but are very affordable considering all the skills you learn. You also walk away with a full makeup kit which is an invaluable equipment base once you’ve finished classes and are starting to work professionally.
In addition to being a wonderful teacher, Celena is constantly helping her former students find work opportunities. As anyone who’s graduated from anywhere knows, learning the skills is only half the battle. Successfully launching yourself into the workforce is a whole other struggle. Supporting students making this transition is something a lot a schools overlook. I am very grateful for Celena’s help securing my first professional opportunities once I had completed the program. She is very dedicated to the success of her students!
