Great Takeout Pad Thai! Went here on a Friday night with a friend. Ordered chicken pad thai and their tofu salad rolls. The pad thai was tasty and massive — easily weighing over a pound. The(2) salad rolls had more veggies, less noodles and were also gigantic. Somehow we missed the peanut sauce in our takeout order, but they were delicious plain. Very happy with the portions for the price.

I don’t know if it was the day we went– but we did not have a great dining experience. One of my first Thai experiences was here– I tried their jade curry, and it inspired me to keep trying other curries. The second time I went to this restaurant, though, I wasn’t impressed but it wasn’t overly negative. I ordered the pad thai, which is my starter for any new Thai place, and did not find myself wanting to order it again– the noodles were dry and undercooked. There was too much lime used, but it was bearable. Unfortunately, this last time we were there, the yellow curry was sour and the rice was hard like it wasn’t cooked long enough. The Thai tea had a burnt taste. I ordered the pad see ew, and while the flavor was fine, the noodles were so overdone, they were an unpleasant texture. I’ve enjoyed it in the past, so I’m sad I had this experience. I don’t expect to come back anytime soon.

My favorite Thai food in the Vancouver area! I’ve been going here for years. I live around Mill Plain & Chkalov area and I will drive to Dok Koon for Thai food even though there are many other Thai places closer. Our favorites are the Drunk Noodles, Pad Thai, and Cashew Chicken!

Absolutely the best drunken noodles in town, their Tom Kha soup is my favorite. Portions are large easily shared. Always super friendly, excellent customer service. They treat you as family, as if they have known you forever. Each customer is their favorite, they strive in making sure their customers are well fed and leave happy. This is a small little hole in the wall place, easy to drive by. Look for it and stop. You will be happy you did. Support your local family restaurant.

Delicious Thai food here. The drunken noodles and green bean dish are a couple of my favorites. There spices are perfected. When I crave Thai food, this is the place I come to

I give them the lowest rate just as a wake up call for the owners, there is still a chance for improvement. When opened in 2003 the food was the best, later the local newspaper published a nice article for them. But lately the quality and service had gone bad. The at least 13 years old carpet and tablecloths need to be replaced and the walls and doors need cleaning and get a fresh paint. The owner(or their son) is not there on daily basis any more, and when he is there it seems he doesn’t care as much as he used to. Recently stopped by for lunch, the plate on the table was dirty with dried old foods still stuck to it. Mentioned it to lady and she removed the dried food with her finger and put the plate back in front of me, sure I didn’t use it. I’ll go there few more times and if I see some improvement I’ll remove this review otherwise will not go there any more.

Unfortunately they are not doing things right, the restaurant could be good but I got sick after every time I ate there and that totals three times now, the last time I saw ladies bagging up pre cooked food, that kind of helps explain the problems there! I wont be giving them any more chances after this last one. I suggest you don’t either!

Masamum curry veggie no tofu, and my friend had special spicey salmon. Curry was sweet and i requested medium heat. For vegetables in the curry consisted of a few pieces of cabbage(over cooked) and 2 tinie tiny broccoli florets(way over cooked) and lots and lots of bamboo and a few over cooked pieces of carrot. The curry lacked any flavour and it was on the watery side. A big dissappointment and not cheap. My friend said his salmon was blah no flavour, fish tasted old, and too greasy. The only thing good about our meal was the large bowl of rice. Service was fine and we got our food quickly. Im sorry to say howevet its another thai restaurant on the do not return. :(

Went with a friend for lunch. Portions were great, but the flavor of both of our dishes was merely average. I got Drunken Noodles(my go-to baseline dish when trying a new Thai place), but it was just a pile of shredded noodles devoid of veggies, with very little of my chosen protein. The flavor was decent, but overall the dish left a lot to be desired. My friend got the Jungle Curry, but neither of us could taste any curry in it. It tasted okay(lots of lemongrass), but it wasn’t great and wasn’t the flavor we were expecting at all. Overall, this place isn’t bad. I suppose if you want a perfectly average meal, go for it.

I was never fond of Thai food until I ate at this place. Oh my goodness everything was delicious. The people are friendly. I would recommend the egg plant with whatever meat you like on it.

The service was very slow. They took a lot of their time to take care of the takeout but ignoring the ones who were dining in. Plus, who charged you for rice when you ordered a main dish? Not coming back.

Great food. I usually get the drunken noodles and like level 3 for taste. They have variety and we stop by quite a few times.

Years ago this was such an yummy place to go. Owners changed at least once, every time I go in there there is a different group of people so changes were expected. A few months ago I went for lunch and the pad thai was so bland and«dry». I had them make it as is on the menu so there wasn’t anything I could blame it on other than its how the new owners make it. I’ve been in a few times to get salad rolls to go, usually they are fine. Tonight the peanut sauce had no flavor to it. I was really confused because who messes that up… I hope they work out the kinks because this is a convenient spot and used to be so good!: /

I absolutely love Dok Koon. For Vancouver, this is one of my go-to Thai food restaurants, especially for take out. While I have only eaten inside the restaurant on a occasions, and had a wonderful experience each time, I order take-out 1 – 2 times a month, and am always very satisfied! The portions are extremely large for the price, and I always have leftovers! The food is consistently good, and I have always enjoyed the kind service and very quick food preparation. My order is usually ready within 10 – 15 minutes of calling, and is always still hot by the time I get home. I highly recommend the pad kee mao(drunken noodle), and although I like some kick to my food, the spicy scale gets extremely hot very quickly, so a medium spicy request always does the trick for me! When dining in, each order includes delicious soup or salad, and the service has always been great. Also, their lunch specials are extremely reasonably priced, and the portion sizes for lunch are also huge! Their food is delicious and will keep me coming back for a long time!

No wait except to cook up my order. Even offered a fresh glass of ice water while I waited. Steady stream of folks picking up to go orders. Brought it home and was still steaming hot. Ordered the pad Thai chicken medium spicy. Oh yeah it’s spicy but still very tasty. Lots of chicken. Will try other dishes like one of the curry dishes next time.

Te meal started with a complimentary soup. This was a version of chicken noodle with little chicken and mostly onions with a few small chopped carrots. I took a few sips of the broth which was pretty tasty but didn’t eat the chopped chicken and veggies inside. The place is decorated nicely with fresh flowers on every table, pretty napkin holders and Thai art on the walls. The Thai lady that took my order was cute and nice but didn’t speak the best English which is ok with me because that usually means the good is more authentic. I have been to Thailand about 7 times and love Thai food. They have great lunch specials for about $ 7 and so many options! I ordered the mixed veggie with rice and added beef. I ordered spicy and spicy it was… In a good way. It had baby corn, broccoli, lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, rice and of course beef. I enjoyed it very much and was too much food for me to eat it all! Unfortunately a customer left and they used windex to clean the table and the whole placed smelled like windex in the middle of my meal! If your reading this I suggest you use wet wipes or something besides a spray for everyone to smell. Other then that this place is great and I will definitely come back again!

I really really wanted to like this place. Service was nice, but I can’t get over the green curry with chicken that I ordered. It was literally neon green. I understand this is a Thai/Laotian restaurant, but it still can’t explain the extremely salty taste and bright green curry. The only word I can think of to describe it is nuclear. I’m a huge fan of Thai food and IF I return back for some reason, I will order something else. Please consider revamping your green curry recipe.

Best Thai Food in Vancouver, WA I came here with my family for my birthday a and then again a week later with a friend. Everything we tried was delicious especially the Thai Coconut Soup! You must try their Thai Coffee! The portions are more family style so don’t order too much. You will certainly have leftovers and that’s a good thing.

I always feel a bit bad about writing a bad review, but the purpose of Unilocal is to share one’s opinions regarding food and service so as to enlighten others who may be interested in the same food. I have many friends who are Laos and Thai. So I grew up around eating a lot of home made Laos and Thai food. I also travel a lot for work in the last eight years so have experienced many restaurants and eaten all types of food so have a lot to compare without being too biased. I ate lunch here with a friend a few weeks ago and was appalled by the food as it completely contradicted the high reviews I read on Unilocal. But then I realized most of the positive reviews were from non-Asian reviewers and maybe friends of the family. In either case, my friend and I ordered the fish patties, papaya salad, green chicken curry, and cashew nut chicken. My first thought when we got our food was whether the owners and cook were actually Thai or Laos or even of Asian descent at all(sorry – but that’s the truth). We also noticed that their servers were these big young men who looked more Hispanic than Asian. The servers weren’t asian which is fine, but you can tell that the servers didn’t have much service experience, but I didn’t mind as they were pretty polite although not very friendly. ALL of our food, particularly the curry and papaya salad, had a very strong smell of fish sauce as it appears they overused this ingredient in both these dishes. Don’t get me wrong, I love fish sauce since it’s a core ingredient in a lot of Southeast Asian food – especially Vietnamese, but your food should not have an overpowering smell of fish sauce. Additionally, I have NEVER had green curry anywhere that made me think I was being served chunky creamy pea soup! Green curry should not be a bright green color, which made me immediately ask the server if the kitchen used food coloring which he assured me that they did not. The fact that my curry was also grainy and chunky and the vegetables horribly soggy made me wonder if this curry had been sitting in a pot for a week or more. Instinctively, we all judge our food by taste, smell, and look and everything that we had sadly failed horribly in all those three senses from this restaurant. The papaya salad had WAY too much fish sauce and looked like they sliced their papaya using a sledgehammer. I make papaya salad at home and it looks and tastes much better than what was brought to our table. The fish patties were rubbery and didn’t have much taste to them except saltiness. The cashew chicken was watery and bland. We barely ate any of our food and I left hungry although we spent $ 47 for lunch. This was definitely a Unilocal rating that failed me horribly with the misleading average 4-star rating.

I tried this based in Unilocal reviews but I didn’t think the food was all that great but I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt – maybe the cook had an off night. If I lived nearby I would give them one more chance. The spring rolls are nice and the dipping sauce and peanut sauce that comes with it are both quite good. The dishes/food presentations were plated nicely-things looked appealing. The staff is VERY nice and attentive. The atmosphere is nice and not the same type of hole in the wall as some of the other Thai places in the area. What made this a bad experience for me was the main dish-Massamum Curry. It was terrible, there must have been a kitchen mishap. I didn’t taste any curry in the dish but did taste plenty of fish sauce which made the dish way sooo salty. I didn’t think fish sauce was even an ingredient in curry dishes. Kitchen mishap-perhaps?
