LA Fitness

I’ve been a member of LA Fitness since they took over Ballys and was a Ballys member since ’98. I’ve worked out at ~20 different LA Fitness locations and been going to this one for about 2 years now.
There’s plenty of parking because it’s in a huge strip mall and just like the parking lot, the facility is very large too. It has everything from racquetball courts to a lap pool to a nice array of cardio equipment and a TON of weightlifting equipment. A very good mix of both free weights and machines, the dumbbells go up to 125 and I rarely have to work in with someone or wait for equipment unless I’m there around the big rush (530−630p week nights).
There is a noticeably higher concentration of serious meat heads that are clearly juicing at this gym. I’d venture to guess that one or two of them are peddling roids to some of the others. One guy was clearly cycling because he went from a normal size to can’t-wipe-his-own-ass size in a matter of just a few months. It’s quite amusing.
It doesn’t get 5 stars though because, after all, it’s LA Fitness. Machines are often broken, waiting for equipment at a gym this size shows it’s quantity over quality and so on. However, this is about as good as it gets for an LAF.

Everything is good about them but one major issue. They will not let u cancel membership and will charge your bank. That’s why they ask for your bank card. To avoid that make sure you pay them cash and you’ll see how their face changes.

Nothing really sticks out for this location (or any other Vancouver/​Portland location, as a matter-​of-​fact) as great or horrible. Its a gym. It has weights, and a few scheduled workout classes… it has a locker room thats fairly clean and includes a sauna so you dont have to share your steam time with the opposite gender. This location does seem smaller than the Hazel Dell one, and the HD one has classes at more convenient times for me… but I live in BG and work in Orchards so this is the one that I can usually get to a lot easier.

Went in and cancelled my membership and stopped receiving email receipts. About 6 months later, I realized the fee is still being auto collected from my account. After speaking with someone over the phone and at this location, I waited for the operations manager. I overhear her conversation with the guy I just spoke with and her response to him is «Oh, is he one of those people trying to get money out of us?» And came on very aggressive towards me. I left there very shocked about her behavior towards me, I didn’t want to get in a shouting match… That’s not in my nature. I have never cheated anyone out of anything, neither is the extra $ 160-​$ 192 going to break my bank. But I will definitely share my experience with all of you and warn my friends and family who have also been loyal members for years. I take responsibility for not verifying the charges on my account, but that does not excuse the theft or rude behavior. So much for being professional and a leader Caitlin.

easy to sign up, great amenities, attentive customer service, clean facility. Great classes. I will never switch gyms again.

The training director who was there for a while was a scam artist. I was promised all workouts planned, meal plans, nutritional advice, etc. none of that was true. I’ve had 4 trainers in just six months since I’ve started. One got fired for a DUI, one for touching inappropriately, and don’t know about the others. I’ve seen more improvement on my own than with the trainers. This club has way too high of a turn over. Nobody knows what they’re doing, nobody cares about your frustration or that you’re paying hundreds of dollars a month for shit service. I’ve tried canceling and the guy just suggested I upgrade to the Master Trainer to get higher quality… like I want to spend $ 40 extra when the regular trainers are already bad? Toss more money down the drain? Go with 24! Their cancellation policies are much easier. As far as businesses go, this one is full of snakes.

I just moved here from the South Florida area. I had been a member of an LA Fitness there, and the staff at the front desk at the Vancouver location made my transition to this gym a smooth and welcoming ordeal. The equipment is clean, everything seems to be in working order.
I look forward to making this my home gym!

Great Gym, first time going to this location.
Free weight area is a bit smaller than what were used to. I prefer the Hazel Dell location honestly. The gym is more spread out and doesn’t get as crowded.
But it’s very clean, has everything we need in a gym.

Coming from Philadelphia to Vancouver, I didn’t expect much for gyms in the area. This LA Fitness was conveniently located from my hotel, The Heathman Lodge. The staff at the front desk, and the sales rep who’s desk is first on the right when you walk in. They were the most helpful, accommodating, and curtius staff of any gym, or business in general, I’ve ever been to, stateside or abroad. The gym is in good condition, clean, and the equipment is kept. Solid protein bar inside, doesn’t get too busy. I’d give this place 10 stars if I could. Thanks LA Fitness Vancouver, Washington.

Lets be honest-​I come to gym to workout not for customer service. I don’t really care too much on how nicely in greeted at the door-​mind you I was greeted warmly with a big smile! Bottom line is equipment is new’er’ and clean. Water fountains work, and carpet is clean and people restock weights were they belong. Big, open, friendly, cardio upstairs weights downstairs. Wide range of free-​weights and machines. Empty in am around 7:30
I’m 34 year old biz traveller so it sure as heck beats hotel gyms and its pretty much all I could ask for

Just joined. I’ve only been there twice so I can’t give a complete and detailed review. The biggest pro I found is that it’s a new gym so the equipment is new and in all working order. My favorite thing so far is that since it’s a new gym… the place is EMPTY! I’ve been there in the morning and right after work, and it’s pretty empty so there’s no wait to get on a machine. There’a pool, racket ball court, free weights, LOTS of cardio machines, sauna, group fitness … so you’ll find everything you’ll need.

Im currently a planet fitness member and wanted to check out LA. So i went in with a friend for a pass and they gave me 1 FREE month that’s just awsome. My first impression was great except the front desk staff otherwise everything is so nice and the management if great. Really willing to work with you. He have us great advice on how to properly bulk up and what pace would be the best. Between the great management and the juice bar i had learned more on my first day then in all my 5 years of going to the other gyms.
I am satisfied.

Since management changed at this gym there definitely has been a shift. The girls at the front desk seem much more friendly, positive and greet you when you come in. The Kids Club has more things for the kids to do and the girls seem genuinely interested in spending time with the children and my kids enjoy going there. The spinning instructors are great, there is only one that could use some work and that would be the Sunday gal, Desiree. Very unenthusiastic, habitually late, doesn’t know how to open the combination lock and does an identical ride every week. She is young though (early 20s?) so that could be part of the problem? Overall the gym is clean, you can always get a bike, treadmill, etc.

Just joined up here and had a fantastic experience through it all with Willie!

I work out there every day and find the envirnment pleasent and well managed. If I need help working a specific area the staff gladly help and encourage me in the new exercise. This is an excellent facility when it comes to equipment, design, and cleanliness. There is no waiting for equipment in the AM but I hear it is busy in the evening. The design and lay-​out is second to none. The Kids Club is a great benefit for parents.
I qualify for Silver and Fit through Kaiser at 24 Hour Fitness, Cascade Fitness and Firstenberg and as a result, could get free membership at those places but I prefer the «feel» of LA Fitness and pay for membership. I like it even better since they turned the music down. Unfortunately, this is where the praise ends.
I have found this club to be very user unfriendly and the staff and management both lack personality and friendliness. The manager Bruce will not speak unless I speak first. I rarely get a hello or goodbye from him and the same goes for the front desk staff who seem too occupied talking on the phone or to each other to give you a smile and a friendly greeting. There are, however, some exceptions.
The trainers who work in the gym are no better. In the two years I have been there, there has only been one trainer who has ever approached me to ask «how is it going»? His name is John.
One of the trainers who is an acquaintance, said that the number one complaint in the training classes is the heat, but when you ask Bruce why fans are not allowed, his only comment is «It’s against company policy». Trainers are also told they can’t turn the lights off to reduce the heat because it is «against company policy».
Recently, I brought my 13 year old niece with me as a guest and possible future member. Other gyms allow one free visit for guests as a good will gesture but not at LA Fitness. When asked for a free guest pass, we were told we would have to pay $ 15.00. I persisted and the front desk person asked the manager, Bruce who referred her to another employee who referred us to one of the sales staff who tried to sell us a membership. I explained that my niece was from out of town but he would not relent and asked us to pay $ 15.00. My niece was so turned off by the whole episode that she said she would never join LA Fitness and I can’t blame her. It was a public relations disaster.
LA Fitness has a lot going for it with it’s clean up to date modern facilities but should focus more on excellent service, friendly cheerful staff and lighten up on rigid draconian corporate policies.

Nice gym! Very nice staff. New little café with smoothies and deli items on site also great vending machines for when you thought you could make it’ll till you got home but couldn’t. Also always very clean. Tina’s workout classes kick your butt!

Manager’s whack. I think Joseph is his name. He’s not a hustler, but really wants to be. Lame place!

Nice spin room.
High bubba factor — many of the ‘Couv’s finest bumpkins work out at this location. Visit this LA club to observe really bad tattoos and homeschooler PE.
Lots of parking and the Sportsmen Warehouse next door will have you covered should you forget your socks, goggles or buckshot.
