Park West Studio

Parkwest Studio is one of the best salons in town due to their awesome and professional hairstylists, location and customer service. Since you enter, you are always greeted with a big smile and a warm welcome.
Everybody in there is great but my favorite is Galina Nikora. She is very detail, perfectionist, patience, fun and has great style. She has been cutting, dying and styling my hair for the last two years and I never received so many complements about my hair like I do now.

I would recommend Kelsey! I came here after I had horrible breakage from my last stylist. She did an awesome job and did exactly what I wanted. She really listened to everything I wanted to do. My hairs healthier and she is all around just a sweet girl to talk to!

Need a new look or need to refresh your tired hair? Time after time, I get a great cut and color from Galina at Park West Studio. I have had to keep a supply of her business cards too because I’m often asked where I go to have my hair done! She is always up for something new and fun and I’ve given her quite a few challenges. A great sign of a good cut is how it looks weeks later. Even then my hair still looks great. A big plus at Park West– the overall environment is relaxed and friendly which is great after a busy day!

UPDATE: January 2015 and still seeing Katy Harris who is fantastic! Her skills go beyond color and cut and style, she is very charismatic and easy to be around. Recently w have been playing with reds and violets and she found the perfect color for me! I live in NW Portland and drive to Vancouver just to have her do my hair because I have yet to be unhappy with the outcome.

I’m giving a huge 5 STAR rating to Electra Kirkley, my stylist. She is great at what she does and I love that I walk in, sit down and she goes to work. Always has a plan for my color, cut and style. Even my family comes from eastern Washington to see her. Very easy to talk with, works her magic and BAM! I’m styling when I leave. Love her!

Kelsey is awesome! She is amazing and creative and loves to try new things out… I have not been disappointed yet and I have been going to her since I moved here in November. And the BEST scalp massage.

I was looking for a new salon after my second stylest left the one I was going to. I checked out Unilocal,and found Park West. It was closer to me, they had a nice and informative website, and it had a lot of good reviews with out it being from mostly one person.
I walked in and set up an appointment when I was at the farmers market. I was set up with Kelsey. I also had a chance to meet her while I was still there. She was very friendly.
On the day I was a little early. As soon as Kelsey as done with her other client, she greeted me. We had a good consultation on what I needed from my hair and she did a wonderful job on my hair. It exactly as I needed it.
The salon was clean, and everyone seemed friendly. And the price was lower then where I use to go. I’m definately going to send my husband here.

Availability was good. They set me up with Kelsey (first time here, used Unilocal reviews to choose this salon) and she was AWESOME! She asked me questions and really ‘reviewed’ my hair with me. She made cut recommendations based in how my hair lies and it came out great. I
The price was also very reasonable. She is my new stylist!

Park West was my salon for years. My mother and I first met the owner a long time ago, before she opened her own salon (about 20 years ago now??) and we were excited to hear that she was starting up her own. The location she found for Park West is absolutely amazing with a fantastic view of Ester Short Park, and flanked by delicious coffee and restaurants.
The ambiance inside is fantastic. Stylish, comfortable, flooded with natural light and full of chatter.
The best, of course, is the stylists. Joni is an amazing and talented hair stylist and her team of artists continue to amaze me every time I visit. I’m in Seattle now, but my mother still goes in for her monthly appointments. Every time I see her, she looks young and fabulous with flawless hair!
A note on price: It’s true that the prices at this salon are a little higher than the competition. BUT you get 110% of what you pay for. The products, the service, and the final result are all worth the extra time and money.
Keep up the awesome work, Joni & crew! One of these days I’ll come in for a cut, for ol’ time’s sake.

I’ve been going to Park West for a couple years now, and I love this salon. The only reason I don’t give it five stars is because the only service I’ve used is a hair cut by the BRILLIANT BRITTANY, so I can’t speak for the other stylists and services. But the location is terrific, great people watching, (Esther Short Park is right across the street, there’s lots of foot traffic in front of their terrific view), the people who work there are friendly, accommodating and know their stuff. I have crazy hair — curly on the bottom and straight as a stick on top, and Brittany is MAGIC. Every time I leave I feel that I’ve reached a new hair style nirvana. Reasonable prices, for a great haircut, too!

If the only way I would be allowed to use Pureology hair products would be to fully abide by their credo, I’d seriously consider it.
This includes becoming 100% vegan.
oooh… but I really like chicken… but… I really really like the way their shampoo and conditioner makes my hair feel super light and shiny and sexy and sulfate free and smelling soooo good for days.
Thankfully I don’t have to change my ways just yet, which is fortunate. I’m not sure how long I’d make it honestly.
My hairdresser recently went on maternity leave I figured I’d just wait until she returned to get a my cut and color done. But when I walked by the mirror and went «AGH!» after seeing the state of my curly locks, I realized I needed help sooner than expected. I’ve never really been the ‘girly-​girl’ type so to find a new hair stylist and get what I wanted done is just terrifying to me.
So I’ve spent the past few years walking by Park West when I’m out on strolls during lunch at work. I figured I’d see if I could get in sometime in the next month, it was always busy so they must be doing hair well. Surprisingly I got an appointment that week which I quickly accepted and crossed my fingers that all would go well.
It was amazing. Seriously the most thorough cut and color I’ve ever had… Jo did a spectacular job and was fun to chat with during my 2−½ hour appointment. I’m terrible at small talk, especially with people I don’t know… and hate those long awkward silences that always come up.
Park West is in a great location, just across from Esther Short Park in Downtown Vancouver. It’s a fun environment of 8 stylists and a nail technician. I had an appointment on a Saturday afternoon and it was fun to watch people on their way to the farmers market and other events stroll by the storefront window.
Though a little more expensive than other places, it’s a worth every penny from consultation to drying and tweaking. And lest we not forget that glorious shampoo… I’m already looking forward to going back in September.
