Solid spot when you’re in need of a Vietnamese fix. Great salad rolls, my favorite are the tofu ones. They don’t skimp on the peanut sauce either, so delicious. I usually switch between the round-eye phở or lemongrass chicken vermicelli. And the iced coffee is a must. My only critique is the bubble tea is blended from a powder base. Not terrible, but I’ve definitely had better.

The service has gotten so much better and the food was delicious! Number 40, I believe, has the perfect amount of tendon, tripe, beef balls, and noodles. I love the broth it really soothes the soul. I am so happy that my recent experiences have been so much better. Great service and friendly staff :) Thank you!

One of my favorite places in Vancouver. The food is authentic and they have great food, prices and portions. I have had the Phở, Bahn Xeo and the clay pot rice all were good. The Bahn Mi looks good too. Overall very good.

Thanks for the phở fix! Coming from Los Angeles where phở restaurants are everywhere, Tan Tan has a rare beef phở that rivals anything I’ve had.

Ate there once. Banh Mi: house special is a cold sandwich. Good, fresh, just not what I expected. Will try a warm meat sandwich next time. Steamed bun with meatball inside: weird vietnamese meatballs aren’t my thing, be it in phở or here. DF spring rolls: had weird chewy meat inside, and served with Thai sweet chili sauce instead of nuoc mam fish sauce. I will go back for the banh mi and coffee. Nothing else.

For the longest time this use to be our favorite restaurant. The people were very friendly, the orders were always correct, and most importantly the food was friggin delicious! With the new staff, everything I valued in this once amazing restaurant are now sub par. My girlfriend and I now go to phở vi van on 164th where we love the people and food the same. Update 4÷26÷16: Banh mi thit is always on point ! And the new employees are nicer and get orders correct.

As someone that only knows Vietnamese food through Phở, take my opinion with a grain of salt. They have a lot of other food on the menu that seem to grab peoples attention. Their Phở isn’t that great, its lacking flavor slightly sweet and the quantity of meat to broth was not a good value, I wish their tripe wasn’t all one huge piece but cut up. I wasn’t impressed with their spring rolls the shrimp tasted old — could have used mint as well. Service was prompt and they have a legit bubble tea selection and sealer and proper straws.

I went to Tan Tan because it was the closest Phở place that was open past 7pm. I wish I had tried to get food elsewhere at an earlier time, because the food was really mediocre. I ordered Phở Tai Chin, Bo Kho(beef stew), and Bun Tom Thit Nuong(lemongrass pork & shrimp). The phở was a watered down broth, lacking in any robust flavor. It was like they completely forgot to put any of the normal spices into the stock. The Bo Kho was just ok, leaning on the bland side; it did not have the spicy, meaty flavor the dish is supposed to have. The Bun Tom Thit Nuong was really a joke. Since the description was«lemongrass pork & shrimp» I expected a bit more than 3 tiny shrimps. I was getting takeout, and I thought the bill seemed a bit high, but figured the side of rice was expensive or something. When they gave me the food, they finally had an itemized bill showing that they charged an additional«takeout fee» of $ 0.50PERITEM. Yes, even your $ 1.50 rice has a $ 0.50 surcharge! NOWHERE in the restaurant or menu do they warn you about this ridiculous charge. When I asked the guy at the counter, he just looked totally confused and said«I dunno.» No attempt to justify it or find anyone who could help. On top of this, they expect a tip?! Thankfully, I had the sense to not tip, so I’ll just pretend the extra $ 2 was for that. There are so many good Vietnamese place in the Vancouver-Portland area, no need to waste your time here.

In my mind, 298 reviews for a place tucked into a strip mall in the Couve is quite the deal. I pretty much had to get in here at some point and I’m glad I did. This is a place that seems to offer all things Vietnamese with the sandwiches, bakery items, teas and all that you can conjure about food served from that part of the world. I had #77. my wife had #90. My son had a variation of #40(phở). Please refer to the pics for descriptions, etc. To put it briefly, wowzers. My dish was layered in a hot pot, all the goodies on top and the rice in a soy-based sauce at the bottom. You know the drill. It’s a ‘lighter’ based version of the mambo-combo dish. All the components worked well together and most importantly, I did not suffer from sodium or MSG overload 2 hours after eating. ThankYouVeryMuchIndeed. My wife’s dish was compartmentalized nicely for mixing or matching and the bite of the spring roll I tried was excellent. My son enjoyed his phở. All the proportions looked both balanced and generous. I liked the sip I had of the broth but there was some subtle flavor I didn’t really like(durian?). All in all, I’m looking forward to my next visit.

This is like an all in one Vietnamese place with excellent food and drinks. Five star for sure for the delicious menu they have. Its a nice cozy place where you can eat in or take out. Service has been really good so far. Sometimes when they are’t busy they are just sitting around but still attentive. One time I went in 25 minutes before closing and they still served us, very quickly too. They have some good bubble tea[$ 3.50]. They have all the flavors you can usually get and choices of tapioca pearls or fruit jellies. My favorite is the Avocado shake and the Aloe Vera drinks. Being health conscious, I know the avocado shake comes with some sort of syrup and was able to have them take out the syrup when making my drink. The thai iced tea is also good and perfectly sweetened. Banh Mi for only $ 3.50. They have lots of choices but I like their special Tan Tan banh mi. All their banh mi served with liver pâté, homemade mayonnaise, pickled vegetables, cucumber, cilantro, onions and jalapeño peppers; seasoned with soy sauce and salt & pepper. This is such a good affordable meal and tastes good anytime. The deli section is filled with little goodies from buns to treats. Not sure everything they have but looks to be authentic vietnamese snacks. Phở. I usually order the #40 Special Phở, which is basically a combination with everything in it. They give a good portion of sprouts and garnishes with it. The broth is hot and so good that I usually gulp it all or take it home to finish later. Alot of protein and a good ratio of everything in the bowl. Another favorite is the Bun Bo Hue. Another great dish with alot of food in there that will fill you up. It is a good spice level for me and the noodles are al dente. Vermicelli noodle bowls are super flavorful as well if you don’t feel like soup. I think of it as in between a Phở without the soup and chow mein without the chow. Basically, everything is good here and I had the pleasure of trying alot of their menu. There are the usuals that I get but can’t wait to venture off to try other parts of their menu. I definitely recommend to try their flavorful Vietnamese cuisine.

My husband and I have eaten here 3 times now and it is definitely our new favorite spot! We first tried Tan Tan Café because it is across the street from our apartment, and it turned out to be an excellent choice! My husband loves their Special Phở with all of the beef parts in it. I have tried the chicken garlic vermicelli bowl and their duck and bamboo noodle special. Both were amazing! The duck special came with vermicelli noodles in a delicate, sweet and savory broth. It is served with a duck salad on the side with a ginger fish dressing. It is one of the best meals I have had in my life. The flavors were delicate and delicious. I’ve never finished a bowl of noodles and broth, but I drained this dish! The staff are so friendly and helpful. Our servers are always attentive and are more than happy to explain dishes and how they are meant to be eaten. Great and friendly customer service!!! The restaurant is also very clean. It is definitely worth the trip to this little gem tucked away in the strip mall. It is the perfect dinner spot for these cold, rainy nights!

Still craving the food we tried here. From the curry pastry to the durian shake, Lemongrass Pork Banh Mi, flavors were all soooooo delicious! Prices are also pretty damn cheap. I Personally find it hard to come across Vietnamese joints that blow me away. This restaurant however has left a lasting impression where I still think of it and crave it even though I live in L.A. Definitely dine here if in the area. P. S. Do not expect hospitable service. They’re all very cold/quiet people disinterested in normal human engagement. My guess is it must be a cultural thing. Meh.

This is such a great place; food’s cheap, service is very good and in my humble opinion they’ve got some of the best Phở in Washington. Other great dishes I’ve had there include the fresh spring rolls, which are outstanding and the vermicelli noodle bowls. I’ve also had their Bunh Mi… I’ll give ‘em three stars for their Bunh Mi’s. Good but I found them to be more bread than filling. Now if you want just take-out…you need to checkout what’s up front… some outstanding pastry items and great stuffed sweet rolls along with deserts and many other items. This is a great little place worth checking out!

Ample parking and nice atmosphere(as in, this is what a Vietnamese restaurant should look like). Service was notably excellent. Our waitstaff was very attentive and sweet. They get five stars for that aspect alone. I got the vegetarian spicy noodle soup(bun bo Hue chay) and it left more to be desired. Granted, this is traditionally a meaty recipe(much pork) and turning it vegetarian is tricky. However, this place did not make the cut for this particular dish. It lacked flavor. I had to add quite a bit of salt. To be fair, I have been spoiled with my mom’s version of vegetarian bun bo Hue. It’s amazing the way she makes it, with vegetarian cha lua/pork patty that taste like the real thing! That’s all to say that if you are looking for a vegan/vegetarian dish, it is better to stick to the homemade goods rather than seeking it at this restaurant. Regardless, I was impressed with the menu selection. Lots of yummy options for those who know what real Viet food is all about.

Most of the people from the Couve know of Tan Tan. Tan Tan offers spacious seating and will accommodate for large parties. We came here after church with a group of friends for some lunch. The menu is giant! You can think of this place as a phở place but with many more options. They also have bubble tea in an assortment of flavors. They have way more flavors than more phở places. I’ve noticed that the bubble tea at phở places tend to much more thicker and smoothie like than«milk tea» from boba places. I really like that they have a green tea and a red bean bubble tea! They also give you a lot of tapioca at the bottom for all you tapioca lovers. I ordered a vermicelli bowl(#61) and my partner order a stir fry noodles(#84).The presentation here is fantastic. I’ve never been to a Vietnamese restaurant where the presentation was actually thought of. Everything had it’s own little spot. I thought my vermicelli bowl was above average. The grilled meat was cooked to perfection and the tad bits of fat really added some flavor. I was sad to see only three pieces of shrimp, but each piece was so succulent, juicy and fat. I love eating grilled shrimp with my vermicelli bowls! They give you a small sauce tray of fish sauce. You really don’t need the whole thing unless you like your noodles to be drenched. The noodles mixed together with the veggies and meat make a really refreshing bowl of food. The stir fry noodles was something we’ve never seen before on a menu. They tasted pretty average; just your typical beef flavored stir fry. It wasn’t amazing, but the portion size was pretty good. I did like the veggies in this dish and the strong flavor of beef. There is another option to get crunchy noodles, although I’m not sure what that is or what it tastes like. Service was excellent. We were taken care of very well by one waitress. She was patient, and very exact with our orders. She made sure that each person got precisely what they requested. We weren’t rushed to leave, and actually stayed and additionally two hours or so just chatting. They are willing to split the checks per person. This is a great little place to grab a bite if you are in the Vancouver area. I can see why people come here and I would come back when in the area.
