Ordered reservations online for 6 people. Got there, table was ready in a private room. Very nice. Ordered our food, waitress seemed impatient and unhappy to be there. Hardly smiled and seemed pushy for us to order. Menu was as expected. Few choices, high prices. Another server came in and told us we were too loud, which seemed inappropriate at the time. The bill was almost 300. with an unexpected 20% gratuity already added on the bill. Not happy having to pay 20% for such poor service. The building and surrounding were perfect!

The restaurant is located in one of the houses on Officers Row. The house is beautiful. We came late on a Friday evening. There is parking across the street. We toured the house. The house was built of logs but the siding was added later. The inside is warm and comfortable. We came for dessert in the bar area. The desserts were excellent as was the service. I will be back again. I would like to try a meal and the happy hour

Atmosphere… perfection. Cleanliness was impeccable. lunch was wonderful. I had chicken salad with bacon, avocados and pickled onions. Bean and ham soup. Everything was right proportioned and excellent. My waitress was simply excellent and service well worth the 25% tip.

Excellent service but food quality/quantity won’t match the price. You pay way too much.

I work nearby and we love going here for a quick lunch or bigger birthday lunches. The food and drinks are great along with the service :)

Rotating seasonal menu is always good and the old officer’s house is a great setting for dinner. The dinner combos are abut unique and while not everything has been successful, its better than trying the same old same old over and over again. Nice to walk of the meal around the fort after diner.

Fantastic service, food and atmosphere! Would recommend to friends, family and especially dog lovers. The patio is dog friendly and our waitress Melissa brought water bowls for our dogs. After a walk in the park area this great lunch hit a home run. We would recommend the Non Cobb Grant salad which my wife loved or the pulled pork sandwich are both great choices.

I love the Grant House. That $$ price range is a bit deceptive. You will find entrees in the $$$ range and the menu is pretty high in the $$ range across the board. That said, this is a house that was built in 1849 for the Commander of the Fort. Named for Ulysses Grant but he never lived in it. The house is haunted by a ghost named«Sully» and the place is just awesome. The ambiance here is as good as it gets. Your in a National Park for Pete’s sake :) I have eaten inside, in the bar and outside. Always great. I would give it 5 stars but a couple of minor complaints. The food is great but a bit pricey for the whole dinner package(drinks, dessert, etc). It is also closed a lot. the last two times I wanted to eat there it was either closed or shut down for an event.

The prices are out of sync with the food and the service, as many reviewers have already claimed. Part of the problem is the menu – you could order a burger off the dinner menu for $ 12 or a filet for $ 35. Those are the beef choices. A $ 22 selection would be reasonable and welcomed. My son ordered the burger, my husband ordered the filet. When the waitress returned to the table to report that the burgers were sold out, my son hesitated to order the $ 35 filet. There wasn’t much else for him to choose from; he doesn’t like fish. $ 35 is too much for a 7 oz cut. My husband, by the way, had to send his very undercooked steak back to get the medium he prefers. The quality and flavor were fine – not outstanding, not memorable, in no way remarkable. The ambience, on the other hand, is five stars. This is a very interesting setting for a restaurant. We asked if we could walk around the house and were given permission to do so – it was awesome. The patio is equally charming. Bravo on finding a stellar venue for a romantic, historic restaurant. Everyone should experience it once. Owners – revise the menu with more choices and better price points, and we’d be back for another evening. Probably many evenings because we live nearby. Until then, we’ll limit Grant House to desserts and coffee on special occasions when we eat dessert. Our tab came close to $ 160 for three people – my entrée was a wedge salad; we had four drinks total. I don’t mind that kind of tab is the food merits it. Sadly, it didn’t.

I hosted a small luncheon for six at the Grant House. We sat in one of the dining rooms all by ourselves by the chimney piece. The interior décor is rather colonial; this is not the Reform Club in London but the atmosphere is sophisticated yet relaxed. We ordered two appetizers, they were tasty but the portions were small. Our main dishes were all executed well and at about $ 10 to $ 15 a person I can’t really complain. If I must complain then it will be my soup. I believe it was over seasoned because it was just a bit too salty. The service was good and my guests had a good time so yes I will dine there again in the future. Respectfully, Richard Edward Rupert Darlington

Fantastic piece of Americana everyone should visit. I am from the Hudson valley in NY and I thought that was the last place to get a bite to eat where you really felt like you were in old world America but there is a wonderful place in Vancouver called The Grant, that really took me back home. It’s like the Beekman Arms which is the oldest inn in America just a little newer. Highly recommended! Only issue was the prices! Def new world America prices. Regardless check it out! Great place for a date!

The reason I am rating it 4 is for the appetizers and the atmosphere. The atmosphere is incredible! We went on a sunny warm day so it was beautiful. We sat outside on the porch but in the shade so we were surrounded by green trees, sunshine and nature. We went around 3pm so it was quiet, before the busyness of dinner began. We ordered calamari and spinach artichoke dip for appetizers. They were so good! We gobbled them right up. The food we ordered was alright. Nothing special, nothing too fancy. Just OK. But I would go again for the appetizers and to sit on that porch.

Had a late lunch here on a lovely Saturday afternoon. The restaurant had a few small parties going on in private rooms. It was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised at the prompt courteous service we received, even with the parties. I tried the Alaskan cod fish n chips… it was very good, lightly battered n cooked well and the correct portion amount. My hubby tried the Pastrami Reuben on sourdough, as he can’t eat rye. The sandwich was filled w delicious lean meat and the perfect amount of accompaniments. Overall, we really enjoyed our meals and visit here. Afterward, you can enjoy a nice stroll along the park, so that was a big plus!

Service and food at the Grant House can be good but is often below average. The day I went to the bar, a guest who was helping out the manager had a noticeable cold. The Irish coffee I had was just right, the windows allowed in a gorgeous amount of sun, but the furniture doesn’t smell very nice. We felt the Easter brunch was overpriced last year. We paid fifty each, including tip. A lot of the ingredients weren’t fresh, such as the pies and tortes, which had a supermarket taste; and the platters of food weren’t well enough tended. If they want to charge a lot of money, they need to keep their food fresh and keep their serving dishes more presentable.

Fantastic! I met a friend here for dinner while she was in town, on her recommendation. She’d been there twice before, about 6 months previously, and the waitress recognized her instantly which i thought was impressive. The building and surrounding area are gorgeous. The dining room was a bit loud due to a large group, but still just wonderful ambience. Waitress was super attentive. I had the salmon entrée on the server’s recommendation and no lie, it was the most amazing dish i think i have ever had. Cooked perfectly, with an amazing chutney and a purée that was to die for. I have never been more tempted to lick my plate! My friend had the winter salad and a side of roasted carrots which were delicious. We also had the lemon cheesecake and the bread pudding. Both were wonderful, especially the cheesecake. I will definitely be back here! Can’t wait for warm weather to enjoy the veranda next time. There is also a charming bar area. I peeked in after dinner and they had live music in there and a great relaxed atmosphere. Wonderful!

We went last week. The food is average, nothing special. The service is also average and could be a 5 star with more interest in the customer. The building is amazing and the food could be too with a little effort. I would hope new management would be found for this exciting location and provide the flare this great piece of history desires. Also you are limited to were you can be seated. Why not open the entire house to everyone. The Grant house has great history, let everyone enjoy the fun. Only go if you are willing to settle for average food and fair service. The price is to high for the plates that are served. All this can be fixed and i hope they do soon.

What a leisurely lovely lunch on the porch. We had unlimited refills on the homemade lemonade. We were splitting the Not Cob salad and the raviolis with shrimp. They prepared two separate portions for each of us without asking. The raviolis were yummy in a light sauce with fresh corn, summer squash and succulent jumbo shrimp on top. The salad was delicious. The other couple raved about the Ceasar, enjoyed the chicken pot pie soup and panini with fruit. When we were debating between bread pudding and rhubarb crisp, the waiter satisfied us all by recommending the bread pudding. It’s drizzled with caramel sauce and sliced almonds… a bread pudding version of sticky buns.

Our calamari came with a tasty sweet chili sauce which I got an additional serving of to dip my french fries and sandwich in. The calamari was really tasty too. I was telling my mom it would have been awesome to get a couple of salads and an order or calamari and mix it all up. I ordered the ham panini with pears which was really tasty. After our meal was over I learned that was the sandwich of the day(meaning I could get a half sandwich with two sides rather than a full sandwich with one side). I wished the waiter had asked if I wanted the full or half. I got the full sandwich with a side of fries. It would have been nice to have gotten a half sandwich with fries and fresh fruit, but c’est la vie. The sandwich was really good. The waiter seemed to be gone more often than not when we needed something. We waited a long time for water refills and for him to pick up the check. Overall not terrible, but it was such a long wait that we began to notice it. There didn’t seem to be that many people. We aren’t sure what was causing the delays. The prices were reasonable. I think it’s a nice place to take visitors since you can go here for lunch then walk the grounds of Officer’s Row.
