As others have said the Sunday brunch is a delightful home style feast and you have to get there early if you want a table. Parking is a bit in short supply but you’ll get a spot if you are willing to walk 2 – 3 mins from your car to the building. I also recommend the spa treatments. Visitors should keep in mind that this is not your ordinary vacation spa. There is a heavy emphasis on Ayurveda, silence, deep rest and rejuvenation. That’s different than other spas that emphasize new age activities and diversions. Though I have never spent the night at the facility I have had multi-day outpatient treatments. The Ayurveda procedures were delightful and super stress reducers. I am speaking specifically of the shirodara and abyhanga treatments which are absolutely heavenly. The staff was prompt, polite and very experienced.

I was skeptical before i tried it, but it truley is some of the best vegetarian food i have ever had! Also very accommodating to other dietary restrictions. Mung bean pancake and caramel apple desert are fantastic!

Let me start out be saying, I have been to all the canyon ranches, miravel, The door etc… I expected this place to be slightly similar it was not. I did the weekend package which was supposed to be all inclusive for $ 2000. The hotel is nice, But my shower had pubic hair in it. You should know that after 5 Pm the Wi-fi Dies and you have to plug your laptop in, and it doesn’t work. If you call down to the front desk. THEREISNOONETHERE. The hotel is vacant of a front desk person from 5 pm on. They have no one there in the middle of the night!!! Good luck if you need help. There is no pool, nor is there really anything to do other than starve and read. The food, It is ALL over cooked Indian based cuisine, vegetables with grains. They have no concept of Nutrition. At your first treatment you sit with 2 «Dr’s» However they are not licensed medical practioners, they then prescribe some bogus herbs and tea that is supposed to miraculous heal you. They never once in person asked to see my medical records. When I asked what was in the herbs he was prescribing me, the incompetent«health expert» had to go online and look up the actual ingredients. He could not tell me what he was giving me off the top of his head. And the pills, yes they charge you extra for this. The ingredients are not listed on the bottles in the health shop, and god only knows the manufacturing processes behind them and if the herbs are even standardized and heavy metal free. He then«prescribed my spa treatment», You can’t choose them. The spa treatments; my first treatment was some bizarre ritualistic ceremony where i’m sitting wrapped in a sheet on a chair in a sterile white room, daylight, no music. 2 therapists get down on there hands and knees and start washing my feet. She then pours oil on my head onto my back and gives a light effleurage massage(there is no deep tissue here) I then lay on the table and they pour hot oil on me(burnt sesame oil) and lightly massage for 40 mins in different positions, part B of this was putting me in a steam sauna and rubbing my foerhead with frozen coconut oil cube. The next day this ritual was performed again except part B was 2 therapist hosing me down with hot oil for 40 min. I now know what a glazed fried doughnut feels like… never mind the fact I almost flew off the table in my birthday suit several times, I had to grip the edge of the table for dear life… now I ask is this relaxing??? The classes they offer, no one goes to them and the wellness expert spoke at one and he could not answer simple questions I had for him about his medicine… as well as you could not understand him. After my last session I had to leave, this place is for mindless zombies who are lost when it comes to their health… and these people are more than happy to put fluff in your brain and scrape your wallet clean… your charged for all these extra services that you think are part of the package when they are not. They pretend to care for you here it’s all about«Peace, meditation and love» No, it’s all about money. People do come back to this place, but that is only because the Maharashi university for Transcendental Meditation is in this town(the town is run down, very ghetto btw.) and this place is the cleanest hotel to stay at. If you want to be ripped off, conned and starved this is the place for you to be… I have to say it’s one of my worst experiences I have ever had.

One of the nicest vegetarian restaurants I’ve ever been to. The Indian food is the best anywhere and the atmosphere is extremely pleasant. The staff is excellent and the cook is divine.

I’m biased… I know the owner and the staff really well and I love them all… but even being aware of this it is hard for me to think of the food at The Raj as anything but supremely delicious vegetarian food as well as being well-priced(buffet-style at just over $ 10). They are open to the public 4 lunches a week… it is predominately Indian but on Wednesday they have Thai /Asian, and on Sunday the buffet is international. I eat here 3 times a week and have been a regular for many years!
