Bought a Tsunami 400-Gallon Acrylic Aquarium from Fish Tanks Direct. John, the owner, was great at picking out all of the equipment necessary, including the saltwater, sand and rocks. The tank is extremely well built and arrived in pristine condition. Fish Tanks Direct also connected me with a local installer, Aquariums Done Wright, who helped to get the tank up and running. Overall, very pleased with company. Would definitely buy from them again.

I placed an order for a large aquarium, canopy and with fish tanks direct in March 2015. I was quoted a completion date of 6 – 8 weeks. After 8 weeks, I followed up only to be given excuses as to why the aquarium was late. The aquarium was eventually shipped after 11 weeks. When it arrived, there was partial damage to the canopy. There was also an issue with the trucking company that ended up costing me hundreds of dollars in terms of delivery. I ended up having to hire movers much longer than expected to complete the delivery that should’ve been part of what I paid initially. Given the service by the trucking company is not directly their problem, Fish Tanks Direct should still stand by the entire service given I paid for it. Delivery of the aquarium, stand and canopy is part of their package. I went out of my way to accept the partially damaged canopy to save the company money on shipping to Florida from Washington State. In the end, I only asked they pick up the measly $ 60 tab for renting a U-Haul van to retrieve the canopy. They didn’t even respond to my request. To summarize it, I am very happy with the product which I’d give 5 stars. I am unhappy with the customer service which I’d give 1 star. It can be hard to reach them on the phone or email although they are very nice when you do get them. They will not compensate ANYTHING in terms of out of pocket expenses that they admit as their fault. They had an opportunity to make my experience they even admitted was wrong. Instead, they collected the $ and went off to the next sale. Given someone would only buy a large aquarium once a lifetime, I can see how repeat customers aren’t a priority, hence this review. Hopefully your customer experience will be better than mine.
