This place is closed down and for good reason. Im not sure how anyone would ever rate this as a 5 star. I feel that completely discounts anyones further sushi review cred. The tuna from this place smelled like its been sitting outside for days. The smell of a regular tuna roll literally made me nauseous. I came here a few times for lunch when I was desperate. Thankfully I cant make that mistake anymore!

Literally a hole in the wall, more like a window in the wall but oh so delicious and great prices. These guys know what they’re doing. Grab a few rolls and head out to the beach… take a seat and enjoy the food and the view. The lady roll is one of my favorites(cucumber, sushi, avocado — no rice) and oogba plum roll was pretty damn good too — different, but in a good way. Had a bit of a tang to it. Everything tastes pretty fresh and all the rolls were tasty… hard to make a choice. My new favorite sushi spot.

OMG this place is fantastic, I was totally blown away by it, had several of the local tell me to go to «sushi out the window», …it was cheep, and very fresh, ordered several types and they were all good, once again, ate way more than I needed, ordered 60.00 in sushi, and it was enough for 3 people and then some.

I was pleasantly surprised by how good the sushi was! Reminded me to never judge a book by its cover. Its literally a hole in the wall place by the boardwalk. I tried the spicy tuna and it was VERYGOOD. The staff was super friendly too! Everything looked super fresh. I will be back!

Walk up service near the beach. Rolls were well-made. Service slow…

If you are on Venice Beach and are a sushi fiend, then take a gingerly pilgrimage to Sushi Okiya. Unless you pay attention, you would not even notice it as you pin ball off of the people and street performers on the Venice beach walk about. The place is near a few other literal hole in the walls. A window opens and two Japanese chefs poke their heads out of the window, like chipmunks. I was hesitant to eat a roll with garlic in it, but the Garlic Albacore roll was worth the risk. Only $ 9, it was an entrée sized portion. The fish did have a garlic hint and was tender. The Unagi Combo roll was also an excellent roll. They accept credit cards. Be aware that there are no seats, but what is better than walking to the beach, finding some shade, and having a sushi roll picnic, while being harassed by the beastly seagulls and hording pedestrians.

At first I was hesitant about getting sushi on the Venice Beach boardwalk from a spot that is literally a hole in the wall, but after going multiple times, I’ve determined it’s probably the best(if not the only) sushi you’ll find on Venice Boardwalk. Great quality, flavor, fairly priced and consistent. I’ve been at least 5 times always with good results. Usually I get the spicy tuna with tempura on top and salmon sushi. Takes them about 20 minutes to make after ordering. note that it’s NOT a sit down place. it’s purely a to-go type spot.

Found this place on Unilocal and it’s worth the hype. Well-priced and delicious. Nothing like sashimi on the beach :) And yes, it’s literally a hole in the wall.

Still a fan of this place. But the last few visits, they didn’t have all the items they had on their menu. Referring to the sushi/sashimi selection, a few of the items would be unavailable every time I try and order. A changeable menu of what fish they have daily will be very helpful. I’ll try and always ask what they have at first, but it’s little annoying when something i’m craving for is rarely there. Last visit. the albacore and salmon sushi were awesome.

Delicious hole in the wall sushi may seem like an impossible feat, but it is made possible at Sushi Okiya. It is literally a hole in the wall with only one little sidewalk table, but they do deliver. The menu is short, but covers everything you could want from a sushi spot. Our order was simple and because we didn’t get the fancy items, super affordable. It happened to be chilly, so we started with some miso soup to warm us up, and then scarfed up our rolls. Everything was fresh, generous and definitely hit the spot. If you’re looking for quick, cheap and good with a little dash of a unique experience, take your cruiser back here.

Im an avid sushi goer and have tried sushi all over Venice and Santa Monica. This hole-in-the-wall place has some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. Its in an alley like atmosphere, which brings out the«Venice» vibe very well. You can sit outside at their one table, or on the grass or beach. Chef Willy is one of the best sushi chefs in LA! Everytime I go here, he is personable and friendly. He really has a good people ethic. He even went home to bring us a blanket because it was freezing outside! He makes each roll from scratch, by hand. Great quality!

Sushi Okiya is a tiny window in the«International Food Court» with the main window facing out onto Westminister. Perry and I were impressed by the five star Unilocal reviews and were surprised to come back to the same location as our taco lunch! Sushi Okiya does not have seating, with the exception of one small table with two chairs on the sidewalk. Take your meal to go and eat on the beach. Perry and I ordered the seared tuna roll, spicy california roll, surf clam sushi, and edamame. Its good, no frills, solid sushi at affordable prices. 3.5 stars, rounding up to 4 because given its location, I was surprised by the quality and value. Note — waits may be long because its just two guys and a delivery man running the whole show. Quality is worth waiting for!

Fantastic and(kind of) friendly. Although pretty expensive(8-piece roll was $ 9.50), quality is there. Good work guys.

Bomb-dot-com I sit across and write from this place everyday and have never eaten there. Today I did and all I can say is the word ‘superb.’ Venice charm, fresh fish, good prices, and the beach. Don’t judge a book by its cover.

We call it «Alley Sushi», @ Westminster & the boardwalk. It’s a whole-in-the-wall place that serves up better fish than the finest places in town! Willie is the Sushi Chef and I believe owner. You don’t wanna miss out, Sushi Okiya for excellent sushi at a great price!
