I’ve ordered from Wacky Wok many times, because they cook their food to order as opposed to using heat lamps like some of the other Chinese food spots in the area. A couple of weeks ago, I had a craving for Chinese food and so I opted to order from here again… I ordered the orange chicken special and the description reads: «White meat chicken chicken dish that is carefully fried and served with green onions in an orange sauce. Includes rice and fried wonton. Spicy.» Through grubhub, I opted for the nonspicy chicken option and chose the fried rice thinking it would have at least eggs and green onions the way the fried rice entrée has(which also comes with the option of a protein or vegetables). I was super disappointed… –I arrived and their grade has dropped from an A to a B. That always has me concerned. –The 1st girl who greeted me said she’d be just a minute(I get that she was serving a table), but had no friendly smile nor was she at all compassionate about having to wait.(Hey it’s lunch time… people are hungry here!) –After girl #1 passed me more than once, a 2nd girl came to bring another customer her to go order and greeted me. She was a tad more pleasant and I did get an opportunity to let her know that I had ordered to go(and it happened to be the one she had in her hand). I paid and it was decent service, while nothing outstanding. –The food also ended up not being what I ordered or expected: +/-The orange chicken was just OK… Some decent pieces, while some were super crunchy and not the norm. — At first, I thought that the fried rice had nothing in it and looks like they literally just added it to a frying pan to turn the color(see picture)… but… when I got ¾ of the way through the rice, I found one large piece of egg and a couple of smaller pieces… So weird! — I did not receive a wonton. –My fortune cookie had a lot of black marks on it… to the point where I was scared to eat it … and a coworker confirmed it wasn’t worth it. Bottom Line — The 2nd star is based on previous experiences, while this recent experience has me sad and thinking it is very unlikely I“ll be returning here.

I found a rubber band in the fried rice which I have taken a picture of. The bbq pork was so old and try it couldn’t be eaten. The egg rolls tasted totally spoiled and we’re immediately tossed out. Waste of almost 100 bucks. Never again, and I will be sure my friends are aware of this as well

I’m a big fan of the orange chicken. At a lot of restaurants the orange chicken can be way too sweet… plus it’s covered in a thick waffle-like batter. I can go for some chicken and waffles from time to time, but it’s not how I want my orange chicken. I don’t know how Wacky Wok makes theirs, but it’s great. Worth trying for sure.

very tasty food. I’m from NY so the bar is set high. I always order take-out but there’s plenty of seating.

Ehhhhh. Lo main was soggy and had zero vegetables in it. And the wacky wok chicken had next to no spice and the«chicken» part was also in question. I found myself chewing for over a min before having to spit it out and just eat the Lo main for the rest of the meal. For $ 25 for those two items this place is not worth it

Let me start off by saying I usually I hate Chinese food. I alway find it to be greasy and salty. That being said Waky Wok changed my whole perception of chinese food. This place makes it fresh ready to order. With generous serving sizes and are not heavy handed on the salt or oil. I usally get the orange chicken and the cream cheese wantons. It never disappoints.

I ordered from here after seeing that the owner writes back to every reviewer. I figured anyone who cares that much about what they deserves a shot. What worked: The Fried Rice is really good. I usually hate chinese food in LA. But this takes me back to what i have eaten all over Asia. a little over done but still better than most other places i have eaten at. Orange Chicken — To die for. Really nice. The heat was just right and added a great dimension to the flavor. What did not work: The Schezwan Chicken — was a very strange flavors. The tomatoes overwhelmed and it was nothing like i have ever eaten with the name ‘Schezwan Chicken’ I threw it out after a bite. I knew i was not going touch it. The Kung Pao — pretty ok but could pack in a lot more flavor. I’d say your fried rice has way more flavor than the Kung Pao. It just needs to amped up. I wanna taste the ginger the garlic the spice in it. The packaging of the food was terrible. To pack dishes with sauces in paper boxes usually used to pack rice just creates a mess. For the prices you’ll charge, i would expect better food packaging. I would order the first two dishes and even try out other stuff from here provided their fried rice remains the same. Cause that is what i would go back there for.

First time dining here at Wacky Wok. I ordered the Wacky Wok plate from the lunch time special menu. My wife ordered the orange chicken plate from lunch special menu as well. It came with a bowl of soup which was good. The salad that came with the entrée was good. The dressing they used is soo good. The rest of the meal was delicious. Definitely coming back.

I ordered the Sesame chicken and it was SOGOOD! Big chunks of chicken and broccoli! I did try the sweet&sour pork once and wasn’t happy with it because it tasted kind of old as if it had been sitting awhile so I haven’t tried that again. I also ordered the cream cheese won-tons for my daughter and she loved them! They were sweet and just excellent! This is by far my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. There are very few Chinese places that deliver in the Marina del Rey area so this is my normal«go to» when I start craving sesame chicken. Ever since trying to cream cheese won-tons, I have been craving them. I wish the delivery was free or they had some online coupons so we could get a sweet deal from time to time.

Ordered wonton soup. No flavor in broth, quality and quantity very low for the price.

Remember the cheap Chinese food you get in NYC as your budget lunch? Good, cause this is the place where you get the same quality and taste and I think that is the only reason it is so popular. It has only a nostalgic effect on the people exposed to the generic take-out Chinese food that most are familiar with… you can compare the food to Panda Express.

Love their Orange Chicken Lunch Special, I find myself craving it at least once a week. If I can’t get to Wacky Wok and I have to get Orange Chicken anywhere else I’m always disappointed. The only reason I don’t give the place more stars is because sometimes when I dine in service can be very slow or the server does everything else possible in the world before they actually come back over to my table to help me. So I recommend ordering it for take-out, it’s ready fast and you don’t have to worry about the service. Luckily their food is really good.

I come for the Orange chicken lunch special. It is a decent price for a good amount of food. They include hot & sour soup or an egg drop soup with the lunch meal. For under $ 10 I always bring home leftovers or lunch for the next day which is a plus. It is not the best Chinese food that I have had but it’ll do.

I went here because I received a flyer promoting«NY Egg Rolls.» My family is from New York, and we have spent 20 years searching for good NY old school Chinese food(the unhealthy kind that they served in the 80’s). This place is the first in LA to deliver on the egg rolls. I have tried a number of other items(like the fish in black bean sauce, the shu mai, the fried rice), and all of them are pretty good. I have had few disappointments(like the roasted pork), and I agree with the other review that potstickers are not meant to be deep fried(otherwise, they would not be call potstickers). Overall, it isn’t the quality of Xian in Beverly Hills, but it is far better than the other local options like California Wok. The price is reasonable(certainly not as expensive as Xian in Beverly Hills). All of you haters should just relax. It is Chinese food, not another dumb-ass farm-to-table experience. Get over it!!!

The cashier girl isn’t that friendly… When I go to an establishment the attitude of the workers really set the mood of the whole experience, so it will determine if I come back or not. Instead of asking if I wanted for here or to go, she just assumed it was to go which is not a bad going since I still got my soup after I asked. When I asked her what kind of soup they had, she didn’t even care to tell me but instead told me to read the menu. There were two soups in front of you, you work at the restaurant and you know what you have… Why was it so hard to just tell me without the attitude. Remember this is New York style Chinese food(whatever that means)… The Orange chicken was not actually pieces of meat it was more like thinly sliced pieces of chicken skin smothered in Orange chicken sauce. The fried rice was extremely plain, no veggies in it, barely any eggs.

This place used to be a go to Chinese restaurant on the west side. Every dish used to be amazing but they have really cut corners in recent years. I still try this place every now and then hoping they will go back to their old ways. Perhaps the old cooks moved on to other places.

Honestly, I would have never set foot at this establishment had I not been starving — the name and location are both a bit too quirky for me. I mean the latter in the least snobbish way possible. At any rate, I ordered and was happily surprised. The food was very nice, fresh, and healthy! My favorite: braised tofu with vegetables! Tasty!!! Lesson learned: don’t judge a book by its cover, if in Venice or Marina del Rey and craving Chinese food visit Wacky Wok.

Pleaded with them over the phone to return to making«authentic» pot-stickers that are pan-fried, NOTDEEPFRIED, but they refuse, even though they admit the pan-fried versions are better, they insist on continuing to call their deep fried dumplings pot-stickers. Really too bad. They would rather have an inferior, inauthentic product that is now falsely advertised, instead of keeping a customer. I will never eat there again. Very sad.

I would actually change this to zero stars if I could, however sadly that isn’t possible. After an error by Eat24 whereby my order was incorrectly placed for collection, the restaurant refused to make up a new order for delivery after Eat24 requested them too. They wanted to deliver the food that had been sitting for an hour, and was now presumably cold and soggy. Good on you Wacky Wok for losing a customer.

The place is an American Chinese restaurant with 3 stars(5÷11÷2015). It is simply hard to find an authentic Chinese restaurant in this neighborhood. Sautéed beef and broccoli, fried noodle with pork and hot&sour soup. The soup was typical Americanized taste, yet overall it was okay.
