Been to several weddings and other events here. PROS – Cost. It is probably the cheapest hall to rent out in this area. For the size, this would be a fortune if it was at wedgewood or some other country club hall. Access to freeways is good too for out-of-towners, and it is by the beach and downtown for after hours stuff and after parties. The Buenaventura Mission is right outside for pictures and sight seeing. CONS – The back doors literally open up to a sea of homeless people, vagrants, and addicts. They all sleep and hang out in the park behind the hall. It can stink of urine. Not too bad during the day, but don’t go out there without a group during the night. Parking sucks. There is one small lot out front, but that is shared by everybody who wants to go downtown. If it’s a busy weekend, you will not find parking and have to hike to the hall.(Be sure to go to your car with a partner at night) The bar is a rip-off, too pricey, and they few times I was there they didn’t have anything on tap. No TV? Come one man, have to have a TV in the bar to watch the game or at least get the score. I am not a person of means. So if I ever needed to rent a hall for any reason, I’d have no choice but to go here. It’s the only place I can afford on my budget. I recommend this place to people like me. If you have $$$, find a better place.

Event took place Aug. 22, 2009 Spoke to David Sept. 2, 2009 David(guy who runs the place) and his staff including Buddy are very unprofessional. David who is friends with the bride and bride’s mother of this event. Is now backtracking after reports of his staff being thieves. According to David no liquor is allowed in the hall. But he gave the ok for champagne to be served to the head table without the cork fee applied because he «knows the family.» Now that six bottle of champagne and a bottle of Sky Vodka are missing he said he knows nothing about it. After he changes stories several times David’s story is now the Vodka was confiscated because of the –No Liquor– rule but he knows nothing about the 6 bottle of champagne missing. By the way the vodka and the champagne were together and brought in from our car by his staff member(Buddy) to the kitchen. The bottle of vodka was for the limo not the hall. –Had I realized the vodka was there I would have taken it to the limo who was waiting to take us to the church. David even accused the a brides maid of spiking the punch with the vodka. Punch that our children were drinking! –I don’t think so, David! And thats why the staff confiscated the bottle. But when he spoke to me just now never brought that up but just said it was open and that his staff took it. So I asked him, «why didn’t your staff take the champagne that was with the vodka in the fridge» he said«I didn’t know anything about that, no one told me about that. « After speaking to David about this and his many stories changing he claims that I got caught with this said liquor in the hall and that it was my mistake. When I countered him with«If it was not allowed in the hall, why is it that your staff carried this big box in and never said anything to us? Had his staff member Buddy or anyone said anything about this $ 200 liquor box I would have asked to keep it in the car. Why I asked David«Why would I go against your rules and house the liquor in YOUR kitchen knowing I would loose out on $ 200? And why didn’t Buddy say anything about the giant blue bottle of Sky Vodka?» He had no reply. He also had no reply when told about Thursday, August 20th at 7:30AM a few of the wedding party went to decorate the hall and we were met by Buddy with a Budweiser beer can in hand. He also offered the Groom a beer and gave him one for the road!!! I believe this is a the epitome of unprofessional.
