Excellent food and wine selection by the glass. I’ve tried the chicken shawarma and kebob plates so far. Hubby had great looking burger with home made bun and huge plate of fresh looking fries. Need to work my way through the rest of the menu especially desserts. ;)

This place is one of Ventura’s gems. They have a huge selection of wine and beer that’s not typically found at other markets or stores. The deli is amazing and serves up delicious schwarma, huge fresh salads with grilled chicken, tri-​tip sandwiches and more. I love this place and go here probably once a week.

At long last, FINALLY got by here. Last time, it was Jue’s Mkt. My, what a change. Super clean, upgraded and modernized everywhere, employees super nice. The food was exceptional, and the menu extensive. The portions (I got the Lamb Schwarma Plate.) were generous and well seasoned. Pleased to pay $ 10 for what I recieved. I would have gladly settled for any one of similar items, it all looked good! Plus, an interesting retail section to browse while you wait. Who knew?!? (Besides, Anna, Centavo, Mikey,…)

Found my new schwrama spot and its on my street, thank the lord. I have been missing this stuff ever since my place closed down, plus it’s a full mini market, and a bar I think. I’ve been in twice already in a week o can’t get enough. Glad the big chain grocery stores are further away in my new place because I’m going to take full advantage the Santa Cruz market!

Santa Cruz Market was first Jue’s Market since forever, and was great. Then it was Green Market which was awful. Then a few years back a wonderful family bought it and added a kind of Persian/​Iranian deli. (If I’m wrong or offensive, please correct me)
Great kebabs and shawarma. Great tri-​tip sandwiches and burgers. The butcher case is great, as well as the affordable local produce. Huge premium beer selection. As well as wine and beer tastings with food on weekends. Very nice people. Products you can’t find elsewhere. Check it out. They are great. Also, since I mentioned them on my review of The Lebanese Oven I should recommend the oven too. Both are really worth checking out.

I had a serious jones for some lamb shawarma, so I started a Unilocal Talk thread and asked for recommendations. Thank you for directing me here, James B and Anna A!
My shawarma wrap ($ 7.99) was so jam packed with lamb that there was no way I could eat it all. I cut it in two and saved the second half for tomorrow. There must’ve been at least a half pound of perfectly cooked savory lamb in it.
In addition to the chicken and lamb shawarma, they also offer tri tip. You can also combine meats, if you wish. I’ll probably try a lamb/​tri tip shawarma wrap next time, insh’Allah.

Best market in Ventura! I really like the beef kabobs and the marinated chicken is amazing! The beer selection is huge! So many beers it’s hard to choose. Speaking of which, they do a dinner a beer tasting night that I’ve gone to and really enjoyed. All the staff is very friendly and helpful too. Check this place out.

What’s not to love? Awesome meat counter, great selection of ethnic groceries, great selection of beer AND a bar! Love this place. Bonus points, they’re always extremely nice to my son whenever he comes in, then tell me what a nice boy he is, when I come in. My friends hate me for living within walking distance to Santa Cruz Market.

Shawarma, shawarma, shawarma! I could eat their chicken shawarma every single day. Their chicken shawarma plate is enough for two. But I am super happy to devour it by myself. The plate also comes with pita bread, fresh hummus, and pickles. While I’m waiting for my food to be prepared, I love browsing through the aisles. I found canned dolmas, which I didn’t know that existed, and they were super good! Also, if you need to find an interesting beer, cider, or wine, they definitely have that covered.

Very cool authentic Greek market with bar/​eatery and deli attached. No place in Ventura like it. Friendly staff and lots of specialty items not found anywhere else. Great beer selection. Smallish menu but they have good weekly specials. Nice cuts of meat, desserts, and salads found at the deli.

Wow! Great food! Great service! I came here for lunch earlier with my colleagues from Mitec on Thompson and couldn’t believe this place! My burger was amazing and such a great price! Then I came back later to show my wife and got filet mignon dinner at a steal of a price! So much food we had to take home and they even gave us a Greek dessert for free!
Tons of good beer and wine selection too!
Way to go SC market! We will be back and be telling everyone about you.

ABSOLUTE BEST CHORIZO I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a lot) comes out of this place. It’s prepared and raw under the glass at the meat counter. Beyond incredible. It’s another realm of chorizo goodness. I always have some cooked up and in the fridge, ready to put on my eggs in the morning.
The breakfast burrito with chorizo is also one of the best I’ve had. Perfect if you are grabbing breakfast to go in the mornings.

I love this funky place. It’s a grocery store, deli and restaurant. I love their shawarma wraps with garlic mayo and tabbouleh. The staff is always very helpful and if you just need to get a cold beer/​wine and relax head to the back. They have a nice selection of craft beer and wine.

Santa Cruz market is a great little neighborhood market! They have a great selection of beer! I was pretty impressed with the variety in crafts they carry. I love being able to run here instead of all the way to Vons. I can usually always find everything I need!

This is my second visit. My first was enjoyable, we selected a bottle of wine and sat and drank and ate in the lounge area. The Greek salad, Mediterranean sampler, beef & lamb shawarma wrap, and chicken shawarma wrap were all excellent to munch on with a nice bottle of wine. My second visit was suppose to be exciting having read they have great Ruben sandwiches, what a disappointment, I’m really bummed, the sandwich was small, the corn beef was good but a small portion. My disappointment lowered my star rating from 4.5 to 3.

Is a great butcher! The meat is wonderful, the bacon is yummy and his chorizo is mouthwatering ! AND they have a sports bar wit 20 tap beers. If you haven’t been you REALLY need to go!!!

Amazing market within walking distance of home, how lucky can you get! Hard to find or rare food finds you won’t find in your average grocery store, attentive and pleasant sales clerks, an awesome deli with a wide array of salads and meats. Had a hard day? Then don’t forget to step off into the other room which features a wine bar. A definite must go to place for and foodie at least once to check it all out, I think you might decide you just struck gold.
