The staff are friendly and the place is clean, so those are two very important factors to a doctor’s office. I will say I love the concept of a one stop shop. I come to this location for everything from gyno appointments to blood pressure testing, and ENT visits. My only complaint is sometimes the doctors are a bit rushed and I don’t feel my visits are always worthwhile. But overall the facility is in a great location and very convenient for me.

Just the worst office imaginable, but please I am talking specifically about the internal medicine group. Some examples: I had surgery dine to remove a tumor and it has to be biopsied to see if it was cancerous. Results came in but no return call for 3 days in response to my numerous calls asking them to tell me what it found. Unbelievable. I literally wa crying sayong, «don’t you understand I think I might have cancer?»
This has been my typical experience many years. Right now waiting for refills on critical prescriptions I submitted for renewal over a week ago. Three calls, one email and counting. They have not yet even been submitted to the pharmacy.
Finally going to change doctors. Save yourself the stress and aggravation. Don’t go there.

My wife went to sick call today, and the Dr. Prescribed a medicine that no local pharmacy has in stock because it is on back order from the drug company. I called the Dr. back and have been waiting at Walgens for over 25 minutes for a substitute prescription. My wife is really sick, and I personally will die before I use this Dr again.

Called to see if I need an appointment for an x-​ray. The girl was unpleasant and could not get me off the phone quick enough. As soon as she answered my question she said «thank you, have a nice day» and hung up. I did have a follow-​up question but she excused me before I could say anything back. I was stunned! Needless to say, I will not be going to North Shore for my x-​ray.

Had an MRI, done. Took 3 WEEKS to get results. Called numerous times. Cost me over $ 1800 for an MRI. Was offered a 10% discount if I paid cash. If I would have known it would have been so inflated, would have gone to Advanced MRI where I could have had it done for $ 600. Will not utilize their services professionally or personally.

I made an appointment over a month ago after being told I needed to get in as soon as possible. This was the soonest they could get me in. I arrived 15 minutes early as they requested only to be told I was at the wrong location and I needed to reschedule the appointment because they messed up and told me the wrong location. The other location is only 15 minutes away so I still could have made it by my appointment time but they wouldn’t take me. Very unprofessional and now I have to continue to feel horrible while I wait for my new appointment time. No consideration for the fact I took off work for this appointment and now I have to take more time off for the next appointment.

Do not visit the Vernon hills location! My experience left me with a very bitter taste!
I visited the Vernon hills location for a GI appointment with The doctor. I arrived at 1:30 pm for my 2 pm appointment. The nurses at the front desk (there were around 5 – 6) barely had time as they were busy laughing and gossiping! Once in the waiting room, I waited till 2:30 to see the doctor. Finally, I came out of the the room to tell the nurse-​Miriam-​that my baby was really cranky and that I had to leave. Dr. Y then rushes in and we hastily get through the appointment! It gets worse from there. Dr. Y mentions that the nurse will strap a urine bag to my child and I can drop the bag of later. She mentions that my daughter will also need blood work done– fine. I wander out and the nurse is nowhere to be found. I speak to the front desk and the nurse tells me she doesn’t know what a urine bag is! We get the lab work done and I ask again if there was a way to get the urine bag attached. Nurse Miriam– who I have to say is probably the most inefficient nurse I have had the misfortune of dealing with– attaches the bag to my daughter and tells me that I have to wait in the office so she can then get her urine sample. I mention that the doctor told me I could drop it off. She replies ‘we can’t allow you to do that because urine goes bad! Can you drop it off before 4?’ It’s already 3:30 at this point and I am exhausted and in tears. My daughter is screaming. The manager comes in the room at this point and tells me that she will speak to the doctor. She comes back and hands me a cup and tells me I can drop off the urine. No apologies for the nurses behavior, the wait time or anything. I walked out of there and am never going back!
Save your time and look for a another facility where the nurses and the doctors will treat you better!

Let me start by saying I definitely do NOT recommend the vernon hills facility. I’ve been to others years ago and it’s frustrating because I wait for hours but other than that no complaints. The VH facility is MUCH worse. Not only did I have to wait 45 minutes to see the doctor just for a quick physical for work when I was the only patient there but I then had to wait 30 minutes after the doctor came in to see me and was called out by another staff member.
When the doctor was in the room I felt as though I was sitting with a salesman. He tried selling me on getting flu shots, whooping cough shot, and blood work. Even though I told him I had all those done at my other doctor. He didn’t believe me because it wasn’t on my file and this was after I told him I had a doctor not through north shore so clearly he wasn’t listening.
Currently I’m waiting to get my physical paperwork signed for approval of another job. I spoke to an incredibly rude nurse who without speaking to the doctor informed me the doctor would not sign my paperwork, in which he already had I just needed another copy, because I needed bloodwork. I told her I already had bloodwork at another doctor and she stated since it was not at the VH doctor he would not sign. I brought the papers in Sunday and told them I needed them by Thursday for the job, it is now Wednesday night and he still hasn’t signed them. DO NOT got to this facility. The buffalo grove facility and Gurnee facility are always nice but here not so much.

I have used a variety of NorthShore doctors in different specialties from allergists to Internists over the past six years. I have to say that none of the doctors was overly competent or a stand-​out physician.
My experience at the Vernon Hills location last night was unacceptable. I called the scheduling call center around 5:15 p.m. to see if there were any appointments available. I had a bladder infection that was getting worse and needed antibiotics quickly. The rep on the phone told me that I could go in, tell them I am a walk-​in, explain my situation and they would fit me in.
So, I drove all the way there and was told by the office associate that they were booked solid and only had one doctor on duty. I explained that I came all the way there, was in extreme pain, and that I was told by another NorthShore Associate that the office would fit me in. His response was «Sorry.» I was in tears at this point.
This is ridiculous as I and my family have given them thousands of dollars over the years.
How about a little compassion for sick patients?
This would have taken about three minutes of the doctor’s «valuable» time. Here’s how it goes… The Medical Assistant would give me a cup for a urine sample, he or she would run the lab, and then the doctor would make a two minute appearance, ask what my symptoms are, write a prescription and I’d be on my way to feeling better.
I will never go to another NorthShore doctor again, nor will anyone in my family. I do not recommend this uncaring facility or organization to anyone!

I ran in here because my doctor wanted me to have some blood tests drawn. I was the first and only patient at 7:00 AM. The only staff I interacted with was the receptionist at the front desk who was busy on some computer gossip site and the lab tech who drew my blood. I can’t say that either was rude, but a «Good Morning» or a smile is always appreciated, especially in a medical facility and these things are sorely lacking at this place. Sorry to have bothered both of you.

I’ve been noted for my loyalty (not always a good thing), and I tend to stay with Dr.‘s I don’t always have a «feel good» connection with. But after some asking around and getting referrals, I’m proud to say I found a recommended Dr. that’s super hard to get into. Like a hairstylist, it’s sometimes hard to switch without a feeling of betrayal, but yesterday I stood tall and proud and got what I wanted. And, NorthShore University made my job beyond super easy.
Booking an appointment was effortless. The main switchboard handles overflow calls for the office. I’m already in the system, so all I had to do was request my preferred physician, state my case, and they were able to get me right in… working hard to accommodate my kiddo school drop off and work schedule. Though Vernon Hills is a little bit out of the way, I would much prefer to come to this facility over the hospital right in Highland Park any day of the week. It’s clean, organized, feels intimate, and they are able to handle all types of typical bigger hospital procedures like x-​rays, ultrasounds, mammograms, etc. I didn’t wait one minute past my scheduled time to be called. The nurse was lovely and fun to chat with, and I really like my new Dr.
Like Luna M mentions, moving and finding a new place to go is challenging. NorthShore has been a great experience so far… even the hospital. I just like a smaller feel environment for my appointments.

I signed up to run the Chicago Marathon again this year and I figured a physical would probably be a good idea. Also, it has been a little while since my last physical so I figured now would be as good a time as any.
My primary care physician has evening hours, which is very convenient for me. I was able to easily make an appointment. The wait was a little long, but not terrible. My PCP was great about answering all my questions and she was very professional. I did not feel rushed at all during my appointment.
She requested that I have my blood drawn and I finally got around to that this morning. There is an outpatient lab where you have your blood drawn. It took me longer to drive to the appointment than to have my blood drawn. The woman who drew it was friendly and professional.
The best thing about NorthShore is their NorthShore Connect service. You can schedule appointments and e-​mail your doctor for any medical advice or questions online. They respond to you in a timely manner as well. All your results are posted online as well so you can access them whenever you want. Other advantages are that the office is easy to get to and offers walk-​in hours.
Overall, this is a good good place to come for your medical needs.

After moving twice over 10 years, doctor offices are one of the difficult transition decisions. Even though I switched to a small doctor’s office in Mundelein, I noticed their limitations. That is why I switched to the Northshore University Specialty office in Vernon Hills.
My husband was first to start going to this facility. When I went with him on one of his doctor visits, the facility impressed me. So I immediately transferred to Northshore in June 2013 & selected Dr Susan Thomas.
From my first visit, a nurse named Sheryl Z took me in & explained the facility as well as ask me the typical medical questions. Sheryl made me feel comfortable. Dr Thomas was also easy going & helpful.
What I really «love» about Northshore is that they are «connected» which means everything is maintained electronically. Whether its your regular medication, allergies, test results, test or treatment recommendations, etc. So if you end up seeing a specialist, you will not have to answer the same medical questions again or get the wrong medication that would complicate a current Rx. This system allows you to review test results & communicate with the staff via email.
Because Northshore is connected, if they have ordered a blood test for you, you don’t have to carry a piece of paper around for a month & make an appt with the lab department. You just go to the lab department & give them your name. How cool is that?
It gets better – at the Vernon Hills facility, they not only have a doctor’s office, they have a lab dept & a radiology dept. You don’t have to plan a visit to the hospital. You just walk down the hallway.
The facility makes taking care of yourself easier & without the headache. We need this type of convenience with our busy schedule.
Just when it cannot get better, I have more good news. They have «walk in» hours.
I’m so glad I switched to Northshore.

I have to tell you that I am not a person who likes to visit the doctors office. Not sure why but I can think of better things to do.
It was the day after Christmas and I started to feel a soar throat coming on and achy all over. What made things even worse was that I was on vacation from work.
I waited a day to see how things went and it wasn’t getting better. I emailed my doctor as they have a thing called NorthShore Connect which allows you to email you doctor as well as receive messages and your test results from them on line. My doc said that they are full but they do have walk ins between certain hours.
So I walked in without an appointment during the walk in hours and the place seemed to be pretty busy (it is the cold and flu season). I was seen within 20 – 30 minutes and out in about 45 minutes with my results.
They have several services here including a GI Lab, MRI, X-​ray services as well as Physical Therapy.
The building is very nice and well maintained. The staff is very nice and friendly and the doctors are great and very thorough.

Looking for a one stop shop for all of your healthcare needs — then walk right in.
Originally I had wanted a more personal experience. A small office with a doctor who would know my name without seeing my chart. I found him. And then his group moved over here. So I give up!
This is a specialty center for a number of physicians. From general internists to ENTs to allergists to lab technicians to x-​ray techs. Did I leave anything out?
It’s easy to get an appointment there are so many specialists that have office hours here. One thing I really like is that there are walk in hours in the morning for internists. I don’t even want to think about how many times I’ve had I use the walk in hours! *cough cough*. And for those of you «well» people who don’t pick up every little germ your kiddies bring home from school, I say: p…
The location is ideal and is super easy to reach. And when you’re done, you’re in the shopping center of Vernon Hills so go pick up a pair of new boots to make yourself feel better.
Last year this place changed from Evanston Northwestern to NorthShore University Healthcare. Even though I’ve put in a change online, Unilocal hasn’t updated the name. (hint hint)
