Came in at 5pm and had to wait for cook to show up. Finally ordered our food around 5:20.(we were two of five people, and only ones ordering food). Our meals arrived separately, and my meal was so over-fried, it was a dark brown. When waitress picked up our plates, she didn’t offer a «to go box» for my entire meal that I didn’t eat and asked how it was. I told her it was burnt and sh

They only seem to still do business due to Hurricane’s overflow. Meaning, it’s super crowded at Hurricane’s…let’s check out VB Sports Grille instead… which is empty. I had their wings… blech. Barely any sauce on them and weak. There’s an electronic darts game lodged in the corner, making it uncomfortable to play. There’s a decent amount of TV’s, but the largest one is blocked by the hard liquor bottles. Bad execution. Beers on tap — are you kidding? I don’t know why they even bothered. I was blown away by how expensive the drinks were. This is directly attributed to the expectations of the bar. If I pay $ 6 for a bottle of beer, I expect to be in a place with great service, location, ambiance, etc. This bar has none of those going for it. I in no way think Duffy’s is the epitome of a great bar, but when they can charge $ 6 for their 2−4−1 bottles all day, every day… and can churn out repeat customers and turn a sizable profit… why can’t these guys? I assume they’re really trying to get tourist dollars and nothing more.

This weekend was our first visit back to VB after a terrible experience over a year ago. We have always loved the food, the price, and the overall feel of the place. However, after waiting over 20 minutes to get our check the last time we dined, we removed them from our regular restaurant rotation. We decided to try them again and are very glad we did. They seem to have taken the notes regarding service to heart, as even on a quiet Saturday afternoon, they had two servers working(a waitress and a bartender, which was the issue previously). The food, as it has always been, was excellent. I would guess 80%-90% of the items are made in-house and are put together in very tasty combinations. All dipping sauces, etc. have the small batch taste you are able to recognize versus the things that come out of the 5 gallon vats from Sysco. After this experience, VB has gone back into regular rotation. Good job!
