Irish Acres is actually located about 10 miles south of Versailles, in Nonesuch KY. It’s off 33, on Ford’s Mill Road. The drive alone through horse country makes this a worthwhile trip from someone staying in Lexington. It’s about 30 – 35 minutes from UK. Irish Acres is a neat not-so-little antique gallery located in an old schoolhouse built in the 1920’s. Inside the gallery you will find some exquisite antiques(we saw a $ 48K bed!!) and some hard-to-finds without making you feel you need to shower immediately afterwards, as some«booth-style» antique stores sometimes do. We arrived at about 10:30 am, with lunch reservations at «The Glitz» downstairs at 11:30. The hour was plenty of time for us, but those actually shopping will likely need more. The ladies running the gallery were wonderful. They knew the folks we were staying with, giving me the impression that they are pillars of the community. The Glitz had pretty decent food. It was in an interesting setting — one I’m sure appeals to much of their audience(middle-aged to older women, traveling in small groups). The food was unique — I give them that. Was it 4-star food? No. But it’s probably the best food you can get in Woodford County. Three courses, plus beverage for $ 20. It’s an easy drive and the roads are great. Make this a stopping point for you when you visit Churchill Downs in Louisville, or visiting Keeneland in Lexington. You won’t be disappointed.
