Fired Up: Rock Bar & Grill

The short version: Great food at ridiculously reasonable prices and top shelf staff that immediately makes you feel like a long lost friend!

** I saw a review from 2013 that talks about this place being smoky… perhaps back then it was but i did not smell any smoke. There is a smoking pit out back and a small indoors one towards the front.
Long version:
We pass this place constantly on our way to the base/​commissary/​NEX. We always meant to pop in, but sadly never made it until tonight. It took the recommendation of 3 separate groups of people to get us in here; not because we thought anything was wrong with it, but because we would simply forget about it. Rest assured that we will NEVER FORGET about this place again!!!
When you walk in you can tell that this is a neighborhood bar and they type of place that caters to its regular customers. I can confirm that not only do they treat their regular customers like gold, but they treat EVERY customer that way!
We seated ourselves and were instantly greeted by a staff member (Jack) who took our drink order and brought us menus. We already knew what we wanted… We specifically went tonight to take advantage of the steak deal… 85 cents an oz (10 oz min) and that price includes 1 side! Honestly we didn’t have super high hopes given the price and given that Saturdays are a prime «bar» night… thankfully we were so wrong. The steak was delicious. Nothing fancy on it to mask the flavor. Just a touch of salt and it was cooked to perfection! We opted to have it with a loaded backed potato and that was also a home run!
I could write more, but you really only need to know that this truly is a hidden gem.

Took a chance! We were hungry for a burger. The food was excellent and the waitress/​bartender was very attentive. Great food! Great service! I would definitely recommend the burgers! Great happy hour specials

This is the only place in the beach that you should visit or make your home for cocktails! The staff is amazing and the food is hands down amazing!!! Scott and Kristy run a phenomenal bar and grill. If you like steaks then come on Saturday because the steaks are 85 cents and ounce!!! Find a place in Virginia Beach that can beat that!!! Katie is not only a fantastic bartender but is also VERY nice to look at… Seriously, locals make this your new hangout and visitors make this place a must stop!!! Order the garlic parmesan wings… The best I have EVER had and the best in the beach!!!

Came in for a pre mma fight event and the place was packed. Typical dive bar with very nice waitresses, once you’re noticed. I waited 30 minutes for average mozzarella sticks and flavorless wings, which might have been due to how busy it was. Overall nothing sets this apart from every other neighborhood spot. If I lived in that area it would probably be my go to for cheap beer and food. I give it the extra star because all the staff was really sweet.

The food is great, have been here several times. I am always impressed with the food. Wings, pizza, burgers. It doesn’t matter it’s all good. I do recommend the pizza though.
The only reason this is a four star review is because it is a smoking establishment with poor ventilation.

Great food, and drinks. The bar has a laid back atmosphere and friendly bar staff! Great place to watch the game or play pool.

If one likes dives & doesn’t mind smoke, this is the place to be! I’ve walked into some local watering holes & have been given the evil eye but, I didn’t get that vibe here. The night I went they had ladies night & .30 cent shrimp. Service was attentive. Crowd was loud but, it’s a bar & people were having fun! I def want to go back to try their other food. There’s a great steak special on Sat. .75 ounce for Ribeye or NY strip. I also saw a burger challenge that looked interesting.
