Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries

Likely would have gotten many stars had the custard machine been operating so we could appreciate a milkshake with our hamburgers but my SO both loved our lunch! It was clean with ENORMOUS booths to fit our carseat in readily, child friendly and tasty. Our waiter was sweet! We’ll be back.

Had the kids out, figured we’d stop here for a quick meal. Looked just like you’d imagine if you were going into a dinner back in the 50’s …even down to the smell of the burgers cooking and the cute waitress smiling. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is the sweet tea was a little to sweet but other then that great experience

No, this baby that I’m carrying in my arms doesn’t need a high chair, thanks for not even asking. 10 minutes for hello after seated and 10 more for drinks. God knows when we are going to eat. I have already been here for 30 minutes and I’ve no food. Won’t be returning ever… This is a different location but the service is just as crappy and slow as the other location and they aren’t really even busy. I’m pretty sure the blue hairs sitting next to us will be dead from old age before their food arrives. Low an behold 50 minutes after ordering the food arrives, not even close to what we ordered, but we were hungry sofuck it… And this place, probably going to have to beg for my check too.

Came here with my wife one afternoon. Walked in and waited 3 minutes to get noticed. Finally got seated with menus. We looked at the menus and decided what we would order. Then we sat and sat and sat waiting for someone, anyone, to come back to our table… We even tried waving a waitress down to no avail… After about 20 minutes we got up and left, went to the BBQ place across the way, ate our meal there and walked back to hiway 55 to see through the window the same poor folks sitting there when we left waiting for service… Don’t know if the food was any good or not. Never ever going back…

Could be better compared to the other restaurants next to it.
First walked in and we seemed to interrupt a hangout session at the hostess stand.
Table was a little wobbly where we were sat at (wife made that abundantly clear) and that should be an easy fix.
Ordered the Andy’s sized John Boy BBQ burger, chili cheese fries, and almond mocha marshmallow milkshake. I initially ordered the regular sized burger but the server asked if I was sure because they were basically kid sized. After looking at pictures of previous reviews, I’m glad she let me know.
Burger tasted good but was difficult to hold because the cheese and chili were on top of the bottom bun making it soggy. The order of chili cheese fries had some fries that needed to be cooked a little longer and the chili seemed more like a soup on the fries. The best part of the meal was the milkshake. Always heard nothing but good things about them and it lived up to the expectations.
Would maybe come back but probably just for the milkshakes.

Love Highway 55! The servers are always nice & patient & its a very relaxed environment. Usually I get the double cheeseburger, but I decided to try something different tonight. I ordered my usual side of gravy cheese Fries, but the Po’Boy shrimp sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, a decent amount of shrimp, & Po’Boy sauce was delicious! My brother also enjoyed a delicious BBQ burger & he enjoyed as well. We’ll be coming back

This place was horrible for the following reasons:
1. Disgusting restrooms, no paper towels
2. A cook that left to smoke out the back door and returned without washing his hands
3. A revolving door of smoking employees wafting smoke into the restaurant where you could smell the smoke throughout
4. Filthy kitchen floor visible from the dining area
5. Pitiful produce on sandwiches
6. Shrimp Po Boy wasn’t worth eating
7. No attention from the waitress
…go down three doors to Firehouse, save yourself the stomach ache.

Waiting to be seated in clear view of two servers who continually walk by without making eye contant, mind you… they’re not busy AT ALL. Finally get seated and wait about 15 mins for our to be taken, still currently waiting for our food to come out… two burgers… that’s it. Never coming back.

I’ve been coming here the past three months or so and what I saw last night was a complete 180 of service. An entire new crew, including the manager. The food remained of pretty good auaoity, but the service was simply atrocious. The usual Friday night staff was no where to be found. Alyssa, Michelle, and Alex were not there.
I was able to get my waitresses name, Jos, by the receipt, as she didn’t introduce herself. As for the remaining staff, they all decided to hang out by the front door. When the other waitress and waiter walked, they looked so pissed. The manager wore a pair of black jeans that were sagging kind of low. Thats cool to wear when youre at home, but this is a family restaurant. What really pissed me off, were the two customers that had to get up repeatedly to get attention. One lady stood there for nearly a minute in order to get noticed. Later, another person in her party had to stand up and wait to get attention. All four of the floor staff were busy hanging out at the front. What the hell was so important? See pictures that are attached.
Months of great service and food was countered by the bad experiences tonight.
Overall, professionalism took a huge dive since I last visited a month ago. I will not be visiting this establishment any more.

When I wanted a really good burger my friend recommended this place over Red Robin. That might be giving it a little too much credit but I had a good experience with Hwy 55. It was pretty empty when we went in but our food came out fast and hot. My burger wasn’t anything out of this world but it was good. I particularly enjoyed the shake I ordered along with my food. I think the coolest thing about this place is the atmosphere. The decorations are cheesy but fun. If anything I will be back to sit at the counter and order shakes with my friends.

What cute atmosphere, great service and good food! We’ll definitely be back to try the custard. I had an Andy’s bacon burger — delicious. My boyfriend had the cheese steak — awesome! Love it. Thanks Hwy 55.

Awesome burgers and shakes! One of the best burger spots actually. Just wish they would add an adult beverage menu.

Been here quite a few times and experience has always been good. The service was spot on and food is good. Nice place to bring the family for lunch or dinner, I would recommend this place to others.

Horrible food, horrible service. Everything comes out of a can or a box. The atmosphere is cool. The staff could care less if you’re there or not– they get paid the same way none the less.

Aiming to bring you back in time, Hwy 55 has all the deliciousness that you’d expect from an age that knew nothing about cholesterol or low fat or even diets. And so when I bellied my way up to the counter, I had completely forgot that I’m trying to eat better on the road.
Bacon cheeseburger with an onion ring on it. And a side of fries. Burger was cooked perfectly, the cheese was nicely melted and while the bacon was in small pieces, it was all deliciously tasty. The fries were nicely cooked.
Service was okay. Maybe because it was well after the lunch rush.

This is a good place to come have a burger! The staff was excellent in serving us and we never had to ask for refills they just appeared! Old fashioned burgers are hard to find here they are basically faux burgers (fake) old-​fashioned so to speak. This place comes very close to what I remember as a wee lad! Anyways do give this place a try. Also they have ice cream, shakes etc delicious as well …

OK, Short and sweet on this one. First: There have been bunches of 50’s style restaurant chains coming out over the years. This concept is nothing new. So if you are going to open another 50’s style restaurant that is new to the area, better make it stand out!
This location: Not hopping at all. The food? Not good. There is nothing that stands out at all about the burger I ordered. The staff was not engaged at all. The time I visited, there were just teenagers on the floor, which is Okay if you have a store manager on the floor to keep ‘em moving!
Service? Again, all I saw were the guys in the grill joking around, very loudly. Seemed like cooking was their second concern, not their first. Also most of the staff on the floor were doing alot more lollygagging and socializing with each other rather than helping customers.
Yeah, rarely do I give a 1 or 2 star, but I felt uncomfortable that the food was even sanitary, based on the horseplay in the grill area, so 1 star. I can’t even round it up to 2 stars out of pity for this place. — This store needs an Engaged Store Manager to make some necessary changes.

Sad to say I’m not a fan. Nothing here stood out. I get that it’s a chain but geez.
I’ve had some good fake burgers but this one was awful. McDonald’s and Burger King put up some stellar stuff compared to what I got there. My burger looked like a kids sized burger and my fries were just plain looking and tasted like they could have used another two minutes in the fryer.
I know their shakes are stellar. The people working were friendly. That added a star. But I’m definitely not going back.

Aug 15 Update. I still haven’t returned to this location, but I have had numerous followups communications from corporate, franchise owner, and the location. Concerned that they keep referring to fixing «staff» issues when my experience was fine with the staff (unlike others) but was more with manager and above performance.
They have of course offered apologies for the experience and have stated they are taking steps to remedy the issues at this location. I told them I would go back, unannounced, in a month or two just to see if they did.

We were in the area and wanted to give it a try. I don’t like to complain much, but do not go here… its not worth it.
When we sat down, the first thing we hear from both booths around us is complaining about the service. The booth behind was complaining about how the waitress was rushing them. The booth in front of us was complaining about how the waitress was never coming to the table.
Husband ordered an orangeade that tasted like water with a little bit of orange syrup & artificial sweetener… We sent it back, the drink is $ 3.49, not paying that for basically water. I had the «award winning» sweet tea that tasted like over brewed tea & barely sweet.
We got the regular bacon cheeseburgers with some toppings. Husband ordered Lettuce, Tomato, Pickle, Mayo, Mustard, Ketchup. They didn’t put any ketchup or pickles on it and put probably a cup of mayo on it. Oh and the patty was horrible. The bun was regular size bun and the patty was about half of the bun size and was missing a chunk of it. I got just mustard, mayonnaise & for 50cent extra mushrooms. No mushrooms, half a slice of bacon, and a cup of mayonnaise. My patty was small too, but wasn’t missing a part of it.
He got a side of plain fries that arrived stone cold. I got gravy fries in which the fries were cold and the gravy was hot, but so salty.
The booth in front of us called over the manager who seemed like a teenager, but stayed composed even though it sounded like she was going to cry. We then waived her over too to express our concerns and told her that we dont even what the food, we were just wanting to leave. She comped our meal and told us that she just moved from a North Carolina store and was in the process of replacing all the staff at the location.
From walking into the door until walking out took probably 25 mins. We then walked over to the store next door and was in that store about 15 mins and came back out and we could see our table and they were just clearing our food that we left off.
