Love this place! Fresh ingredients, you can customize your orders (no rice for me), cool local surf décor, casual and friendly. Tacos are delish!

I come here quite often as I live right up near FC, and I love the burritos! The guac is to die for, and the kitchen staff is freaking on POINT. Unless the line at the counter is out the door I almost always get my food within 5 minutes, and never more than 10 minutes. I personally dont get the vegan things or the gluten free junk (sorry, i like my meat haha) but they are always polite and prompt in awnsering questions about those things, at least from what ive seen. Service is polite and fast, and I have yet to get any food i didnt like from there. I really dont like fish, but I WILL eat the fish tacos here. They are soooo goood

Welp! This is the first time I have been here since it has expanded. I really like what they did with the place. To start with the positives, the guac was as good as I remember. And by good, I mean delicious!
We ordered the Shrimp Tacos which were better than the Fish that I’ve remembered. You can self serve from a water fountain nearby. Apparently they have a full bar which is a plus. Get your margarita on!
The BIGGEST downfall at this place was the service. We literally were noticed by everyone in the kitchen who just looked away after each one of them made eye contact with us. Instead of speaking up like I normally do, I decided to see how long it would be until someone even just greeted us. A «we will be with you in just a moment.» would’ve been suffice. When we were finally greeted by the manager, she took our order swiftly. Honestly, she wasn’t the most personal person either. When we got served our tacos, we notified the server we didnt get our guac yet. She just walked away and came back to give us our chips and guac. These people need to smile more, I could understand if it were busy, but come on guys. just acknowledge!
This was supposed to be 3 – 4 stars.

Went during happy hour. Got a $ 2 domestic and buy two get one free taco and some nachos.
Very good. Quick and simple. Good selection of craft beers and other Mexican food as well. Worth a visit if you’re in the mood for cheap casual quick Mexican

Nothing special. Their food lacked taste. I had carne asada tacos and it was dry meat with a splash of guac. They are playing loud skater music and the walls are covered in skater posters. Its nice inside but definitely nothing Mexican about the decoration. I wouldn’t come again. Im sure it makes for a cool hangout spot with friends but not good for kids IMO

I had high hopes for this place because I seen a large crowd and the décor was pretty cool. I ordered the chicken burrito and my wife had the carne asada tacos. My first bite was like biting into a salt lick. My chicken had the texture of jerky. The place has an identity crisis, has Mexican Grill in the name and serves tacos and burritos but the walls are full of surf & skateboards. It is a very crowded and noisy atmosphere. There is a lot of kids in here but I wouldn’t consider this place very kid friendly. There is a full bar with a decent selection of beers. If the food would have been better I might have considered coming back without kids to have a drink.

The service was okay and the quality of the food was good, but it was the way it was prepared that was not appetizing.
I got an order of chips and guac, some of their signature fish tacos and a shrimp tacos.
The chips looked store bought, and the guac was bland to the point that i wondered if i lost my sense of taste. The tacos were okay, but it was. more like shredded cabbage tacos with some fish or shrimp. There were very little seafood in the meal and it was disappointing.
I was hoping for more, coming from kc and eating less than a mile from the ocean, but sadly i had better seafood where i live, over a thousand miles from any ocean.

Best tacos around! They just rennovated and have a lot more seating. If you want the vb local experience then come here!!!

If you love CABBAGE this is a place for you!
Fast food type feel with the food quality of a restaurant. I say this because you order at the register take your number, seat yourself and wait for your food to be delivered. Rather suprised by the size its large, it wasnt crowded at all. Really clean industrial feel.
Our guacamole came out first, they have 2 types chunky with cilantro and smooth without. We got without its good to be expected. We ordered the famous fish tacos, comes in 3 or 1, we got both. Out comes 2 baskets overflowing with cabbage. The fish, sparse, was breaded not battered as described. If your looking to get filled you diffently need the 3. Over all still good. The salsa which i was glad i ordered on the side, taste pickled, while not what i was used to, actually taste good when paired with all this cabbage.

The fish tacos are most definitely amazing. Ceviche was good too. The rest seemed over priced.

Pelon’s has got to get faster, and I can’t get my fish tacos cool anymore.
30 – 40 min to get 3 fish tacos is just to long. Usually good when arrives, (except this last time, it was cold, like out of the freezer flash fried for 20 sec cold)
Service really does need’s to act like they give a sh**.
I will be back one more time, if service and is not any faster, I’m done.

The prices reflected here on Unilocal are incorrect. The current pricing is more expensive, so they should have two $$ instead of one $. You have to pay for chips and salsa, which wasn’t very good. Every 3^rd or 4^th chip I had was stale and the salsa was very watery. Overall, the food was very bland. The retried beans and the chicken tacos lacked any flavor. The fish tacos were ok, but the tortillas were already cold by the time the food got to the table. Overall, this place was like one of those chain taco places.

Good food. Fish tacos were very good with just the right kick. Good guacamole. A little too much onion, but great flavor. Only issue was service. They gave out multiple table numbers for the same number which was a problem. Also took a while to get food. Location seems to have just expanded so there is plenty of room for large and small parties.

I actually love this place but my friends often say it is just ok. I love the food, the yummy salsa and guacamole and the surfer ambiance. I don’t eat steak but I’ve been told the beef tacos are not the best and once we ordered chunky guacamole and it was basically an avocado opened and not mixed. But I can forgive them as most times I am in Mexican heaven with my favorite hot sauces, big burritos or cheap tacos on Wednesdays and a cold drink. The ceviche is unreal too.

You want fish tacos? A fish taco burrito then? If you are stopping by a taco joint near the beach this is for you. This delightful taco joint is a laid back surfer atmosphere.
Things you have have to try:
The queso. Omg. So creamy and flavorful. The chips have a nice saltiness to them. This is what you should order for while you wait for your food.
The curl. This is a seafood burrito delight from heaven. I personally recommend the way it comes, some people like shrimp in theirs. This is best eaten with the pineapple harbenaro salsa.
The bathrooms are clean and the staff are really nice. I will warn you, though parking is limited. A lot of people than come here walk. This is a small place so seating can be crazy.
I wish you luck. If you love fish tacos, and don’t come here, you are doing a disservice to yourself.

How dare this place charge an extremely high price for vegan food!!!
I asked the young lady if the vegan cheese was Daiya, she shrugged her shoulders and said «It’s some shredded cheese.» When I got my nachos, sure enough, it was Daiya. I HATE Daiya. The nachos only had little toppings, yet I had to pay extra. If this was the case, I could’ve ordered something else. I wasn’t pleased with this place, and I WILL NOT ever return.

This is my favorite restaurant at the beach. This is a place I take friends and family to share great food and drinks. This is the place I have been to more than any other place and have not once written a review.
Pelon’s should be spread by word of mouth and shared with friends. This is a place I feared tourist and people would ruin or trash because it is just a «taco bar» and it has «surf décor». This place is everything I love of virginia beach and it has, the BEST fish tacos at the beach. They may not be the biggest tacos (compared to Bajas) or the cheapest per meal but they have the best Baja styled fish tacos east of California.
Not a fan of fish (of afraid to try it??) I recommend the carne asada and carnitas. Burritos? They got burritos. Even breakfast burritos if your lucky enough to get in. Got a hankering for ceviche? It was good and I had no fear of quality I might find in other restaurants.
The restaurant is a small little hole in the wall in one of the last «strip» shopping centers at the ocean front. It has amazing daily special and is always a go to for me. I am finally making this Unilocal because as I am leaving I want others to enjoy in y favorite spot at the beach.
Come for the tacos and stay for the drinks!
