We love staying at Lareau Farm!!! At some bed-and-breakfasts, it doesn’t really feel welcoming because there are not common areas or those that do exist are not enough to accommodate all of the guests. Lareau Farm is exactly the opposite. There is a game room, a library, and a large dining room. I have spent many days hunkering down at the Inn while my family skis. The bonus of having an «in» at Flatbreads is amazing. It is great to just walk over after a long day instead of having to bundle up to go back out to eat. Don’t eat too much at dinner, though, because the cooked to order breakfasts are outstanding. If you are lucky, sweet potato pancakes will be on the menu!

Happy things to say and we are just half way through our stay. In booking, innkeeper Lisabeth was prompt, helpful and flexible. This morning, she made a great breakfast for my vegan daughter. The rest of us had omnivores’ delight and great coffee. My youngest gathered eggs today, which we are having in our pancakes tomorrow. Rooms are comfortable as promised. Flatbread pizza, a family favorite in its other locations, shares a driveway with the inn. How great is that? We will be back.

Everything you want in a quaint New England B&B and then some! This is our go-to spot for regular ski trips to Sugarbush, MRG, or Stowe… and sometimes if we just want to get away. Lisabeth is a wonderful hostess, and the clientele are equally congenial. Oh, and the breakfasts are second to none! If you want good cell phone service and on-site spa, keep looking. If a laid-back, dog-friendly inn is your speed, look no further!

This place is beyond a five star establishment. Five star views, five star breakfasts, five star welcoming staff. We held our wedding at the inn and in went far beyond what we could have imagined. The place is beautiful and lisabeth and her staff handled our 150(somewhat rowdy) guests like pros. Not to mention the food was AMAZING. We cannot recommend this place enough for the full Vermont experience. Love love love it and cannot wait to go back!

I won’t lie. I chose this place because it was the least expensive. I justified that choice because it was also connected to American Flatbread, a fantastic restaurant. But, I can not say enough good things about this place and the proprietor, Lizabeth. Everything was perfect, the setting was idyllic, right on the banks of the Mad River, the grounds and house were in perfect order, and the breakfast was gourmet quality! One morning was build your own omelets with all kinds of fresh, local ingredients. Another morning was sour cream pancakes with fresh fruit and sausage. Every breakfast was accompanied by delicious, locally-supplied trimmings: VT coffee, fresh jams and jellies, unpasteurized milk and creamers and multiple types of delicious breads. The house was rustic and what you would expect from a converted farmhouse; it was perfect for what we needed– relaxation. We spent a lot of time sitting by the wood burning stove. We were lucky enough to eat at American Flatbread twice during our stay as well as some of the other local eateries and everything meet our expectations. The town is a gem. This is definitely our place when we’re in town

We wandered in here, bedraggled and tired, when our Vermont vacation turned wetter than anticipated. What a lovely surprise. We were greeted warmly. The accommodations are homey but not luxurious, which the price definitely reflects. The breakfast, on the other hand, and the ambiance on the large porch where you can eat it, were luxury personified. The innkeepers were very friendly, as were the staff at the flatbread place next door. We had a lovely evening, catching a movie at the little theater in town, then having an out of control good flatbread and some wine, and then without driving heading to our room to get in our pajamas before playing one of the many available games out on the porch, under the stars. Great, great, great.

We stayed at Lareau Farm between Christmas and New Year. We have been coming to Sugarbush/Waitsfield for a few years now and we always thought about staying here. Well, this time we decided to do so, and I am very glad we did. This is what many people picture a Vermont country inn to be like: warm and cozy, with an innkeeper(Lisabeth) who is as friendly as can be. She also cooks fresh, local and imaginative breakfasts. This place is also the home of American Flatbread Pizza which is the best restaurant in Waitsfield for families, and it is hugely popular. When you stay at the Inn, you automatically get a preferred seating, which is a big bonus. The dining room here is open and bright with views of the river and the farm. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the house feels like your own. I highly recommend it here. We will be back.

I took a trip to Vermont during foliage season this year and I can’t say enough positive things about Lareau Farm Country Inn. The innkeeper Lisabeth is so warm and is not shy about giving you recommendations for dining and recreation in the area. Her breakfasts are insane. One morning we had huge breakfast burritos full of chorizo, avocado and eggs, the next it was belgian waffles with fruit compote. There is always some tantalizing baked goodie set out for snacking during the day. Lisabeth tends to stay out of your way because she wants you to feel at home, and she is very successful at creating this vibe. She has placed such thoughtful help-yourself items like cell phone chargers and toiletries throughout the house, and if you end up getting into one of the books in her library she’ll let you keep it. If I ever find myself in the Mad River Valley again, and I hope I do, I will definitely return. For all that you get, this place is a bargain at about $ 115 a night.
