Great restaurant. It’s fast casual. You order from the counter. The restaurant isn’t the cleanest but the food is good. I usually take it to go. Chicken is good. Fried yuka is good.

I was really impressed with the place from the moment we walked in the door. We were greeted by the staff and they were all in a great mood. We ordered 3 steak and cheese and a lamb gyro. The food was prepared perfect and everything was great. We met up with some friends who also enjoyed the meal. I’m going to have to return in the near future to try other items on the menu.

It was what to expect at cheap prices. I got a steak and cheese, good quality but nothing great. More veggies than steak unfortunately. The roasted chicken looked great though. Menu could have a little more description as to they don’t explain much to you when you ordered. I didn’t know my steak and cheese would have lettuce, peppers, onions, tomato, and their sauce on it. Not bad, but I’ve had much better. Might give it another shot in the future.

I liked their food better then the other place that’s not to far near the Burlington Coat Factory(horrible), a lot of sides to chose from and I highly recommend the fried rice.

This place is ok at best. All my food was cold when I got it. For the price I definitely expected better.

Fabulous experience. Was in town for 2 days and ate her both days. Place was clean. Staff very friendly. Food choices abundant. Some protein choices require 10 – 12 minutes as they cook fresh(steaks/lamb). Received a large plate full of food and a drink for just under $ 10.00(That’s why I returned with friends on second day) If we had this restaurant in Va Beach I would make frequent visits.

Outstanding! Nice people and great food. I called ahead and the food was ready to go. Got a bunch of sauces but loved the green sauce on everything. I will be back with more friends.

Somebody said Peruvian Chicken and I came running! I am so elated that I found this hidden gem on a ravishing Saturday night!!! This venue has so many great reviews so I definitely had to check it out. There weren’t many people in the establishment at the time I arrived around 7pm. I checked out the extensive menu for about 5 minutes and finally decided, with the recommendation of the staff, upon the Lomo Saltado and Greek Salad to-go. The gentlemen that were working that night were really friendly and helpful. Since the food was cooked fresh I waited about 15 minutes before everything was ready. Once I arrived home I immediately opened my containers so I could feed my face. Everything was really good and warm & the infamous yummy cream sauces gave the steak and rice a nice flavor. Mmmmmm mmmmmm, deliciousness! I can’t wait to revisit! I hope that my subsequent visits are as great as my very first one! Keep up the stellar work!!! Thanks Waku Chicken for being my 200th review… Whoot, Whoot!!!

I found wake through Unilocal after deciding I wanted to try something different. I wanted something that wasn’t a chain and had healthier options. Upon finding Waku, I also decided I wouldn’t be boring and get Peruvian chicken; which is what I usually get a Peruvian chicken places. I ordered for pickup over the phone and the employee was very nice and understanding of the fact that I was ordering without a takeout menu. I decided to get the chicken souvlaki w/fried rice and Greek salad. When I arrived to pick up my food, the restaurant was a bit nicer than I expected. I typically go to Peruvian chicken places in the northern dmv metro area and they aren’t as large and nice as this. Not only was the atmosphere great, the service was as well. The guy that took my order, a woman, and a man that worked there all greeted me, apologized for the wait, and assured me that my food would be out shortly. When I went to pay for my food, the cashier even offered me free cornbread. I don’t know if it’s something new the were offering and wanted people to test it out or if they do give free things to first time customers. Regardless I appreciated it and enjoyed the cornbread very much. My entrée itself was AMAZING. The chicken was well seasoned and juicy, the salad was perfectly made, and the fried rice was very flavorful. I also really appreciated that my chicken was freshly grilled and wasn’t sitting under a food warmer. I’m soooooo glad I decided to try a new place and entrée as well!

I had to go pick up a prescription while at work, a coworker requested that I stop by Waku chicken to get a large yuca and a large plantain for us to share. I went and got them, and the total came out to $ 12.39. I thought that was pretty expensive for 2 sides but I paid and brought him the receipt. Not only did he also agree that 12.39 for just two sides is ridiculous, we opened the yuca to see that they barely even covered the bottom of the box as you can see in the photo. The yuca isn’t even cooked enough either. I even suggested going to Chicken Rico which I think is a lot better, but Waku was closer. I will take the extra few miles to go to chicken rico next time.

Solid food, good prices, an ethnic alternative to the typical fast food places. Sides are tasty without being overly salted.

Had the chicken, plantains, and green beans. Chicken was good, could’ve been a touch more flavorful. Plantains were okay, weren’t soft or caramelized. Green beans were good, very basic but I like them that way. Reading reviews I was curious why they had gyro at a Peruvian chicken spot. But it’s not the steakum type, they had a spit where they carve the meat off. I didn’t get one but actually having a gyro spit is a good sign that they’re decent. Not the best I’ve had but I’d go again.

I heard that Waku was starting to serve breakfast and I was tired of going to IHOP. So I decided to try this place out for breakfast. I gave 4 stars because the food took a little while to come out… but it might be a good thing that it wasn’t already made and they stuck it in a microwave to warm it up. The food was very good. Huge servings of everything. I only ate half of what they gave me. The pancakes were delicious and also huge. They gave me 3 but I could only finish 1. The home fries were the best i have had in a while. I would definitely come back.

Decided to stop by today after having the steak and cheese sandwich 3 days earlier(was the best steak and cheese I had in Waldorf in years). Went to get my usual chicken for lunch and saw today’s specials were fried liver and fried pork. I love both and could not believe they were available. The fried pork just looked so good I decided to get it with green beans. Then I looked to the right and there was a large pan of fresh mashed potatoes and a big pan of gravy!!! Once I sat to eat my meal I was a happy camper! The pork was fried just right with onions and peppers adding great flavor. The mashed potatoes and gravy were definitely home made… like my moms. They gave me so much food I almost burst. I have never been to Waku during a weekday for lunch but there were staff I never saw before. They were super friendly and ready to answer questions about the food choices. As I left the manager asked how I liked the food; I told him it was excellent:). If you haven’t been you need to try this place out. By the look of the 20+ to go containers being delivered I have a feeling the secret is out about Waku Chicken.

This place has alot of great reviews and as many stars as this place has, I would have expected more. First… there was unfriendly and unresponsive. Imagine people doing their job but blantently apparent they are not happy. Second… the sides were nothing special and if anything looked old. Third… price. For $ 10 half chicken and two sides you can get alot of food from Peruvian chicken places around NOVA/DC/MD so much so… you have food falling off your plate. This place… was like… a scoop and a half. :/ Fourth… what machina are they running in this place that causes resonance vibrations through the whole building? Three stars cause chicken was moist and sides were fine and price was ok… but definetly nothing special in terms of what you get.

This place is highly praised by my taste buds! The chicken is delicious and so is the fried yuca and the pasta and pretty much everything else on their menu. Additionally, you get a lot of food for such a great price — bang for your buck! Waku Chicken is basically a little piece of heaven located right in Waldorf — can we get one in Charlotte please?!

I came in for breakfast and was greeted when I walked in. The cook Maurice said he would cook my Greek Omlette himself which was nice and everything was fresh. Thanks Maurice!

Absolutely love this place! From the time you walk in the door to the time you leave. Someone promptly welcomes you. The food is always so fresh and seasoned just right. I get the ¼ chicken white meal with chicken friend rice, black beans, and green beans. YUM!!! Their chicken is so flavorful, juicy and tender. Just the way I like it!

So… on the way to my favorite thrift store located in Waldorf I made a startling discovery: OMG, THEYOPENED A PERUVIANCHICKENJOINTHERE! After shedding tears of perpetual gladness I did several cartwheels in the parking lot of Waku Chicken. Folks didn’t even stare; I think they understood why I was so overjoyed. For well over a decade, this building was previously a very unfortunate Asian buffet which had declined significantly over the years. The restaurant closed some months ago, and I imagine many folks wondered what would replace it. I’ll spare you the remainder of my history lesson to tell you that I’m so happy that Waku is here now! The food is cheap(but not lacking in quality), easy and delicious! The staff is super friendly and warm and the food is always piping hot. The first time I stopped by I was immediately hooked. I had a ¼ chicken meal with two sides for a mere $ 8! They use a very good blend of seasonings on their chicken which leaves the outside skin crispy and the meat juicy. I also enjoyed that it was not too salty. When you walk in you can see the chicken roasting on the spits! You are practically guaranteed fresh & hot chicken. I had a very well made Cesar salad too(fresh romaine lettuce with thick, hearty shavings of Romano cheese) and very delicious and crispy potatoes. Like many Peruvian chicken restaurants they had a special blend of their own sauces for you to chose from. I adorned my Waku Chicken with the medium(yellow) sauce. They have a green chile sauce and a white sauce that is similar to ranch dressing. All are great, but the yellow is the best in my opinion. Tastes great on everything they serve. There is a nice older man who is likely the manager who always adds a few extra sauces to my bag :) If you’re a pescetarian or vegetarian don’t fret. They also serve salmon, and delicious salads. In fact, they offer a full menu aside from the hot/cold bar options which includes sandwiches/gyros & Peruvian specialty dishes. I haven’t even had the opportunity to start digging into that yet. OH — back to one of my original points. This place is super cheap! I got 3 dinners for my family(¼(leg quarters) meal w/2 sides) for only $ 20! My family really enjoyed their meals, and were very impressed since they never had pollo la brasa. This is now one of our favorite takeout spots. I still go and visit whenever I have my thrift store days for a sit-in meal! Thanks Waku, for changing my life!
